  • A method for forming production cells in cellular manufacturing systems is presented. The basic approach is based on part-machine group formation by using relationship matrix calculated from the original part-machine matrix. The cases of exceptional elements and bottleneck machines are discussed. The proposed method can work with any starting form of part-machine matrix and provides the same solution regardless of the changes of starting form of part-machine matrix for any given problem.

  • This paper describes the design and realization of an extra high frequency band $8{\times}8$ microstrip Butler matrix. Operation at 36 GHz is achieved with a frequency bandwidth exceeding 400 MHz. The circuit is implemented on a bi-layer microstrip structure using conventional manufacturing processes. This planar implementation of a Butler matrix is a key component of a switched beam smart antenna with printed antenna elements integrated on-board. Conception details, simulation results, and measurements are also given for the components (hybrid couplers, cross-couplers, and vertical inter-connections) used to implement the matrix.

  • Fictitious Crack Model(FCM) is one of the Nonlinear Analysis Method which is presented strictly strain softening phenomena of concrete in the fracture zone. As no stress singularities occur, it is not necessary to use special crack tip elements for this analysis. A special feature of the used method is that it explains not only the growth of existing cracks, but aslo the formation of new crack, as it is assumed that cracks start forming when the tensile stress reaches ft, i.e., the same criterion is used for formation and propagation of cracks.

  • A $32{\times}33$ MOS-type area image sensor has been fabricated. The blooming current is reduced to 1/14 by forming +p photocell in P-well instead of a simple p-type substrate. A shallow n+ junction is made to improve the sensitivity of photodiode on short wavelength. Bootstrapping circuit technique is applied to obtain high speed dynamic shift register. The shift register operates at up to 10MHz for 7V clock.

  • This study investigated the characteristics of the establishment of an architectural guideline which is an important element of a urbanscape plan in basic landscape plans established by four local governments(a county level) in Jeollanam-do since the enactment of the landscape law. The results were as follows. The guideline for landscape plan elements was closely associated with shapes, materials, harmony, and coherence. For the detailed guideline for landscape plan elements, an architectural guideline on the arrangement, height, facade, and roof shapes of buildings, which is one of important elements related to urbanscape, was similar in local governments, showing a standard and uniform tendency. It indicates the limitation of forming urbanscape to enhance local identity and unique features and complementary contents are needed. The color guideline was classified into base color, sub color, and accent color in consideration of local features. In particular, natural material color was commonly used for base and sub color in all local governments. Therefore, it is necessary to develop unique material color and distinctive local color for each region.

  • In this paper, we studied the derivation method of isoflux radiation for a planar array antenna. The presented array antenna was designed for considering of 1U-sized CubeSAT with Ku-band communications. For the presented array antenna, 8×8 radiating elements were arranged, and the distance between radiating elements was set of half-wavelength. The excited current weighting for each radiating elements was calculated by the signal processing technique used in the design of the low-pass filter. As a result of analysis of the method proposed in this paper, it was confirmed that a seamless isoflux pattern can be derived.

A Study on the Expression Methods of Space Perception by the Scene in the Exhibition Space (전시공간에서의 장면에 의한 공간지각 표현방법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the space perception by the scene and to analyze the characteristics in the exhibition space. The data for the analysis was collected through a questionnaire survey method. The questionnaire is composed of a scene selection on the panoramic photographs of the exhibition space. 'The 4 Rivers Cultural Center - The ARK' was selected as the subject of this survey. The results of the study are presented as follows : First, the space perception perceived imaged scenes rather than the specific elements of space. Second, the space perception was revealed through the 'Form', 'Materials', 'Light', 'Lighting', 'Furniture' and 'Media' of notable elements. Also that was perceived by forming 'Line', 'Surface' and 'Volume'. Particularly, the perception of 'Surface' was higher than 'Line' and 'Volume'. 'Surface' was perceived mostly through the 'Color'. The perception of 'Line' was positive to 'Boundary' or 'Continuous placement of the light'. In addition, the perception of 'Volume' was positive to 'The curve of the form', 'Transparent material', 'Three-dimensional elements'. Finally, The type of space perception was chosen as 'Extension', 'Center', 'Deep', 'Boundary' and 'Formative'. In this way, the results of this study will set a foundation for developing design methods to induce the space perception by the scene in the exhibition space.

Effect of Alloying Element on the High Temperature Tensile Property of Ferritic Stainless Steel for Automotive Exhaust System (자동차용 페라이트계 스테인리스강의 고온인장성질에 미치는 합금원소의 영향)

  • Ferritic stainless steel is currently increasingly used for automotive exhaust material. The material for exhaust manifold is used in the temperature range of 500∼$850^{\circ}C$. Therefore, high temperature characteristic is an important one that affects it's life span. It has been investigated the effect of alloying elements of Cr, Mo, Nb, Ti in the ferritic stainless steel for exhaust manifold on the high temperature tensile strength. There was a few difference in the tensile strength at $600^{\circ}C$ with the exception of low Cr steel, but the steels containing higher Cr, Mo or Nb elements showed significantly higher tensile strength at the temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. The precipitates of the specimens after heat treating at the test temperature were electrolytic extracted, and quantitatively analysed using by SEM-EDS and TEM. The alloying elements of Cr and Mo increased the tensile strength as a solid solution strengthener, and on the other hand Nb element enhanced the strength by forming the fine intermetallic compounds such as NbC or $Fe_2Nb$.

  • This study has resulted in the followings applying costume's form and meaning to the theory of structuralism established by Saussure and the extensive and contained meanings of Roland Barthes. The kinds of woman's costume of the Romanesque era were not various, but those of the royal family and aristocratic class were more various and decorated better than the lowly persons. So their social levels could be differed by the forms of the costume they wore. Each form of costume was differed according to the structural elements and showed the feature that the form is the costume of the era and social position's differences of the wearers' sexes, levels, and vocations in the same era. Costume's analistic body was the costume's form selected according to the central analystic elements, this showed the meaning of the era's levels and classes, that is, the costume's structure was reflected by the era's features. In the structure of the woman's costume in the Romanesque era, many religious features were emphasized and the elements forming each analystic body were classified and meant the society's features. Nano Structure and Mechanical Properties of Rapidly Solidified Al81-(x+y)Si19NixCey Alloy (급속응고된 Al81-(x+y)Si19NixCey 합금의 나노조직과 기계적 특성)

  • In order to produce good wear resistance powder metallurgy Al-Si alloys with high strength, addition of glass forming elements of Ni and Ce in $Al_{81}$Si$_{19}$ alloy was examined using SEM, TEM, tensile strength and wear testing. The solubility of Si in aluminum increased with increasing Ni and Ce contents for rapidly solidified powders. These bulk alloys consist of a mixed structure in which fine Si particles with a particle size below 500 nm and very fine A1$_3$Ni, A1$_3$Ce compounds with a particle size below 200 nm are homogeneously dispersed in aluminum matrix with a grain size below 600 nm. The tensile strength at room temperature for $Al_{81}$Si$_{19}$, $Al_{78}$Si$_{19}$Ni$_2$Ce$_{0.5}$, and $Al_{76}$Si$_{19}$Ni$_4$Ce$_1$ bulk alloys extruded at 674 K and ratio of 10 : 1 is 281,521, and 668 ㎫ respectively. Especially, $Al_{73}$Si$_{19}$Ni$_{7}$Ce$_1$ bulk alloy had a high tensile strength of 730 ㎫. These bulk alloys are good wear-resistance bel ter than commercial I/M 390-T6. Specially, attactability for counterpart is very little, about 15 times less than that of the I/M 390-T6. The structural refinement by adding glass forming elements such as Ni and Ce to hyper eutectic $Al_{81}$Si$_{19}$ alloy is concluded to be effective as a structural modification method.d.tion method.
