  • To investigate the effect of deformation condition on microstructure and texture formation behaviors of AZ91 magnesium alloy with three kinds of initial texure during high-temperature deformation, plane strain compression tests were carried out at high-temperature deformation conditions - temperature of 673 K~723 K, strain rate of 5 × 10-3s-1, up to a strain of -1.0. To clarify the texture formation behavior and crystal orientaion distribution, X-ray diffraction and EBSD measurement were conducted on mid-plane section of the specimens after electroltytic polishing. As a result of this study, it is found that the main component and the accumulation of pole density vary depending on initial texture and deformation caondition, and the formation and development basal texture components ({0001} <$10\bar{1}0$>) were observed regardless of the initial texure in all case of specimens.

  • The purpose of this study was to recognize the effects of parenting behaviors as perceived by female high school students on their loneliness and perceived competence. The subjects of this research consisted of 301 female high school students. The data collected were analyzed by multi-regression analysis. The father and mother's behaviors, defined as inconsistency, intrusiveness, physical abuse and neglect, all- resulted in increased levels of loneliness amongst the subjects, and also negatively influenced their perceived competence. However, the parent's monitoring, reasoning and affection behaviors tended to reduced loneliness and perceived lack of competence. The father and mother's affection, when recognized as such by female adolescents, revealed itself to be a positive influence on their various areas of perceived competence. In conclusion, parenting behaviors may affect loneliness and perceived competence on the part of female adolescents during the ego-identity formation stage.

  • Fe and Si are common impurity elements in the aluminum alloys. In this investigation, the effects of the addition of Fe and Si on the age-hardening behaviors of the Al-Cu-Mn-Ti-Zr-Cd casting alloys were examined through hardness measurements, calorimetric techniques and observation of the transmission electron microscopy. The addition of Fe depresses the formation of GPII and ${\theta}'$, and thus retards the peak aging time and reduces the peak hardness of the Al-Cu-Mn-Ti-Zr-Cd alloys. On the contrary, the addition of Si accelerates the formation of GPII and ${\theta}'$ and thus accelerates age-hardening behaviors of the Al-Cu-Mn-Ti-Zr-Cd alloys.

  • The formation and thermal desorption behaviors of octanethiol (OT) SAMs on single crystalline Au (111) and polycrystalline Au, Ag, and Cu substrates were examined by X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS), thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS), and contact angle (CA) measurements. XPS and CA measurements revealed that the adsorption of octanethiol (OT) molecules on these metals led to the formation of chemisorbed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Three main desorption fragments for dioctyl disulfide (C8SSC8+, dimer), octanethiolate (C8S+), and octanethiol (C8SH+) were monitored using TDS to understand the effects of surface morphology and the nature of metal substrates on the thermal desorption behavior of alkanethiols. TDS measurements showed that a sharp dimer peak with a very strong intensity on single crystalline Au (111) surface was dominantly observed at 370 K, whereas a broad peak on the polycrystalline Au surface was observed at 405 K. On the other hand, desorption behaviors of octanethiolates and octanethiols were quite similar. We concluded that substrate morphology strongly affects the dimerization process of alkanethiolates on Au surfaces. We also found that desorption intensity of the dimer is in the order of Au>>Ag>Cu, suggesting that the dimerization process occurs efficiently when the sulfur-metal bond has a more covalent character (Au) rather than an ionic character (Ag and Cu).

  • In this study, the formation of magnetite using Fe(II) and Fe(III) hydroxides was investigated; The effects of hydroxide synthesizing pH and temperature, reaction temperature, and total water volume of hydroxide suspensions on the magnetite formation were studied. And the basic reaction behaviors of magnetite formation was discussed in the view of hydroxide formation reaction of Fe(II) and Fe(III) by titration. The characteristics of products were examined by TEM, VSM, XRD. From these experimental data, solid-solid reaction between Fe(II) and Fe(III) hydroxides is proposed as a new ferrite formation mechanism.

  • Spectral behaviors of cationic dye, crystal violet(CV), in aqueous solution and with varying concentrations of Triton X-100(TX-100), sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and cetyl trimethyl amonium bromide(CTAB) were studied. The characteristic changes of the absorption spectra observed in the dye-SDS interacting systems with the SDS concentration are analyzed. The behaviors of both a- and J-bands of the each componet dye suggest that the following four sequential steps are occurring : the formation of dye-SDS complex, the stacking of the dye molecules arising from the association of the dye-SDS complex, breaking of the dye stacking due to the formation of micelles, redistribution of the dye molecules in the surface of micelles at high SDS concentration.

  • Nickel oxide thin films exhibit the resistive switching as a function of applied voltages. The switching phenomena involve low and high resistance states after electroforming. The electrical features are believed to be associated with the formation and rupture of filaments. The set and reset behaviors are controlled by the oxidation and reduction of filaments. The indirect evidence of filaments is corroborated by the presence of nanocrystalline nickel oxides found in high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The insertion of insulating layers seems to control the current-voltage characteristics by preventing the continuous formation of conductive filaments, potentially leading to artificial control of resistive behaviors in NiO-based systems.

  • When surfactants meet chlorine bleaches not only in the washing drums but also through the whole path from the stream to the river, it is not difficult to expect that they produce the harmful substances like DBPs. Furthermore considering wastewater that is contaminated by surfactants is used to discharge into drinking water sources via sewer system, it also can be imagined that residual surfactants would contribute to the some extent of DBPs' formation during chlorine disinfection in water treatment plants. Although the main behavior observed was the formation of chloroform during the reaction of LAS with free chlorine, the other manifest behaviors like the trends of pH, MBAS, free chlorine, the mole concentration of benzene ring and etc. were also investigated.
