  • Distributivity has been one of the central topics in formal semantics. However, no due attention has been paid to embedded distributivity that very frequently occurs in natural languages. In this paper, I propose a formal analysis for embedded distributivity. In analyzing embedded distributivity, I employ no complicated mechanisms but pluralization. Since distributivity is reduced to plurality as Landman (2000) argues, employing plural formation is not an ad hoc approach to embedded distributivity. That is, the plural variable inserted in the process of deriving embedded distributivity is motivated in a principled manner since the pluralization occurs inside a pluralization operator. Moreover, I point out that the plural variable made available is not restricted to entities.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate multifaced aspects of angle concepts and the developments of angle concept and to examine textbooks in relation to above investigation. In this study, we obtain the following results. First, angle concepts have static and dynamic aspects and develop situated angle concepts, contextual angle concepts, abstract angle concepts, through formal angle concepts. Second, our textbooks emphasize abstract angle concepts and formal angle concepts but lack situated angle concepts and contextual angle concepts.

  • In this paper, we present an analysis of the IS-95 authentication protocol for the Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) mobile communication network. We propose a mutual authentication protocol, AP-6, to improve the security and correctness. Formal description and verification of the proposed AP-6 are also presented on the basis of the formal logic. It is shown that the proposed AP-6 is more secure and correct than the IS-95 authentication protocol.

  • In these paper, we define object models in order to represent a correct analysis model, propose translation method to formal specification necessary to uniform and standard. The translated model provide to correctness, consistency and completeness. If it is happen to error in the VDM specification, we can verify model to adapt initial object model step. It increase correctness to retrieval, reduce the costs and efforts of after development because of the verified model used to basic specification in design step.

  • In the era marked by information inundation, social network analysis is the most important part of big data analysis, with clique detection being a key technology in social network mining. Also, detecting maximal balance clique in signed networks with positive and negative relationships is essential. In this paper, we present two algorithms. The first one is an algorithm, MCDA1, that detects the maximal balance clique using the improved three-way concept lattice algorithm and object-induced three-way concept lattice (OE-concept). The second one is an improved formal concept analysis algorithm, MCDA2, that improves the efficiency of memory. Additionally, we tested the execution time of our proposed method with four real-world datasets.

  • In this paper, we propose the similarity measurement method between two program codes by counting the frequency and length of continuous patterns of specifiers and keywords, which exist in two program codes. In addition, we propose the visualization method of this analysis result by formal concept analysis. Proposed method considers adjacencies of specifiers or keywords, which have not been considered in the previous similarity measurements. Proposed method can detect the plagiarism by analyzing the pattern in each function regardless of the order of function call and execution. In addition, the result of the similarity measurement is visualized by the lattice of formal concept analysis to increase the user understanding about the relations between program codes. Experimental results showed that proposed method succeeded in 96% plagiarism detections. Our method could be applied into the analysis of general documents.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify differences that married exist between married women´s buying motivations for imported and domestic formal two piece suits and to test the role of socioeconomic variables on those differences. Sample selection criteria included married women lit in8 in ,seoul. Korea, between ages 30∼59. Purposive sampling method was used to secure respondents It with experience with imported formal two-piece suits. Of 400 distributed. 246 usable questionnaires were returned. Statistical analysis of results included factor analysis, and paired t-tests. For both imported and domestic suits, the most important buying motivation was utilitarian, with qualify the most important consideration. Purchases of domestic suits were more influenced by factors such as advertisements, economics, impulse buying, approval of others, and current fashionability of style than were the purchases of imported suits. On the other hand, purchases of imported suits u·ere more influenced by factors such as prestige and utilitarian motivation than were purchases of domestic suits. For most socioeconomic variables, respondents indicated significant differences in their motivations for buying imported suits and domestic suits. The results of this study suggest the need for implementing different marketing strategies for imported suits and domestic suits.

  • Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) based on electronic bulletin board system (e-BBS) has been widely used for various educational purposes since the advent of the Internet. Instructors can achieve pedagogical goals by analyzing the contents of postings. They can be benefited technically from analytic information on discussion activities. Studies on content analysis and social presence in communication have been traditionally done by social studies. However, researches on computational and logical analysis of the phenomenon are rare. To do that we propose a formal model to represent and analyze communication activities logically. The model consists of interactivity vector providing a formal representation of discussion activities and interactivity chart providing a graphical representation of interactivity vector. The formal approach can be used as a useful technical assistance to analyze and compare discussion groups computationally.

  • In this study, Rural and urban housewives were compared in terms of their clothing practical use and clothing buying behavior. For the analysis, a nation-wide stratified sampling was made across the rural and urban areas. As a result, 400 subjects of housewives were selected and were asked to answer the questionnaire. Results of the analysis were as follows: 1. Both rural and urban housewives were found to have reliable knowledge about the kinds of clothes they are possessing. However, there were significant differences in the knowledge level of clothing practice methods, in clothing patterns of one′s favor, and in clothing buying behavior by the type of clothing. 2. With regard to the clothing buying behavior by the type of clothing, several differences were found between rural and urban housewives. Purchase motivation for formal wear, was found to be "I don′t have one" in overall, yet having a significant frequency difference between rural and urban housewives. Major evaluation criteria were "color and design" and "fits to me" for formal wear and "comfort and fitness" and "price" for casual wear, also having a significant frequency difference between rural and urban housewives. 3. Rural area housewives bought their formal wear in stores offering "low price or sale" while urban housewives looked at "quality and variety". The major source of information was "display and direct observation" and "previous experience" in both cases. The rural housewives bought clothes when they had any "event" and urban housewives bought them when they had "extra money or sale".

  • This study examines crosslinguistic influence on the use of concessive conditionals by Japanese EFL learners. Contrastive analysis suggests that Japanese native speakers may overuse the concessive conditional even if due to partial similarities to Japanese concessive conditionals, whose formal and semantic restrictions are fewer than those of English concessive conditionals. This hypothesis is tested using data from the written module of the International Corpus Network of Asian Learners of English (ICNALE). Comparison of Japanese native speakers with English native speakers and Chinese native speakers reveals the following trends. First, Japanese native speakers tend to overuse concessive conditionals compared to native speakers, while similar overuse is not observed in Chinese native speaker data. Second, non-nativelike uses of even if appear in contexts allowing the use of concessive conditionals in Japanese. Third, while overuse and infelicitous use of even if is observed at all proficiency levels, formal errors are restricted to learners at lower proficiency levels. These findings suggest that crosslinguistic influence does occur in the use of concessive conditionals, and that its particular realization is affected by L2 proficiency, with formal crosslinguistic influence mediated at an earlier stage than semantic cross-linguistic influence.
