Recently, as steel structures become higher and more long-spanned, construction of high-strength steels is increasing gradually. Application of high-strength steel can be possible to make a more light and economic steel structures by reducing thickness and space. To apply a high-strength steel to structure, criteria of high-strength steel for buckling is required. However, current specification is not sufficient for criteria of high-strength steels. In this paper, buckling behavior of high-strength steel truss columns with box sections is investigated by using three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite deformation analysis program. The criteria equation for allowable compressive stress of high-strength steel truss columns with box sections is proposed and confirmed the applicability. It is reasonable form analytical results that formulated equations after finding the upper limit of allowable axial direction compression stresses of high-strength steel truss columns. And new equation is suitable to buckling design of high-strength steel truss columns.

Continuously motivating people to exercise regularly is more important than finding a way out of barriers such as lack of time, cost of equipment, lack of nearby facilities, and poor weather. Our proposed system presents practicable methods of motivation through a diverse exercise aid system. The Health Improvement and Management System (all-in-one system which saves space and maintenance costs) measures and evaluates a diverse body shape analysis and physical fitness test and directs users to automated personalized exercise prescription which is prescribed by the expert system of three types of exercise templates: aerobics, anaerobics, and leisure sports. Automated personalized exercise prescriptions are built into XML based documents because the data needs to be in the form of flexible, expansible, and convertible structures in order to process various exercise templates, BIOFIT, a digital exercise trainer, monitors and provides feedback on the physiological parameters while users are working out in the gymnasium. If these parameters do not range within the prescribed target zone, the device will alarm users to control the exercise and make the exercise trainer adjust systemically the proper exercise level. Numeric health information such as the report of the physical fitness test and the exercise prescription makes people stay interested in exercising. In addition, this service can be delivered through the Internet.
This study aims to examine the transition of the youth to the labor market by types of education and training institutes focusing employment rate. To construct the dataset for the analysis, the list of the graduates from 4-year universities, junior colleges, polytechnic colleges and the graduates from vocational training institutes as of February 2001 has been merged with the database for the insured in the Unemployment Insurance Database. This data enables tracking down of these graduates in terms of their mobility in the labor market. For graduates from universities and junior colleges, their scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test have been matched. One of major findings is that the longer the schooling period is, the better the employment results are. Among those who finished 4-year universities, those who went to schools in the metropolitan area achieve a relatively better record in job finding than those who attended schools in the local areas. Meanwhile it is confirmed that the SAT score is highly co-related with the performance in the labor market among those who finished 4-year universities. The co-relation of one's major with his/her employment is not negligible also.

The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of elementary teachers about educational technology. Educational technology that is embodied at school was the form of "systemic structure" whose components are complex and exert close mutual influence on one another, rather than of "systemic assembly" that relationship of components were well controlled. A qualitative epistemological method was used to look into educational technology instead of existing empirical ones. Metaphor analysis was utilized among various qualitative research methods to find out what elementary teachers thought of educational technology. Six elementary teachers were asked to draw a picture to describe what came into their mind when they heard term of "educational technology," and they were interviewed in depth to check what their pictures meant. As a result, elementary teachers expressed their point of views about educational technology as "a scientific, technical and systemized instrument to stir up the learning interest and joy of students," "an action to mechanically fit together every part of education(curriculum)," "educational technology as a teaching and learning method," and "an integrated and overall system." This finding seemed to have something to do with media theory, teaching and learning theory and system theory that have been used in educational technology. This study was expected to be significance in that it investigated the way of looking at educational technology in the field, and confirmed the close relationship between theory and practice, and finally provided an opportunity to reflect on the ontological nature and epistemological method of educational technology.

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most abundant form of human genetic variation and are a resource for mapping complex genetic traits. A genome is covered by millions of these markers, and researchers are able to compare which SNPs predominate in people who have a certain disease. The International HapMap Project, launched in October, 2002, motivated us to start the Korean HapMap Project in order to support Korean HapMap infrastructure development and to accelerate the finding of genes that affect health, disease, and individual responses to medications and environmental factors. A Korean SNP and haplotype database system was developed through the Korean HapMap Project to provide Korean researchers with useful data-mining information about disease-associated biomarkers for studies on complex diseases, such as diabetes, cancer, and stroke. Also, we have developed a series of software programs for association studies as well as the comparison and analysis of Korean HapMap data with other populations, such as European, Chinese, Japanese, and African populations. The developed software includes HapMapSNPAnalyzer, SNPflank, HWE Test, FESD, D2GSNP, SNP@Domain, KMSD, KFOD, KFRG, and SNP@WEB. We developed a disease-related SNP retrieval system, in which OMIM, GeneCards, and MeSH information were integrated and analyzed for medical research scientists. The kHapMap Browser system that we developed and integrated provides haplotype retrieval and comparative study tools of human ethnicities for comprehensive disease association studies (http://www.khapmap.org). It is expected that researchers may be able to retrieve useful information from the kHapMap Browser to find useful biomarkers and genes in complex disease association studies and use these biomarkers and genes to study and develop new drugs for personalized medicine.

The purpose of the current study was comparative analysis of autonomic and electrocortical responses to passive and active touch of the tektites with different subjective emotional preference. Perspective goal of the project is development of a template for classification of tactile stimuli according to subjective comfort and associated physiological manifestations. The study was carried out on 36 female college students. Physiological signals were acquired by Grass and B10PAC 100 systems with AcqKnowledge III software. Frontal, parietal and occipital EEG (relative power spectrum /percents/ of EEG bands - delta, theta, slow and fast alpha, low and fast beta), and autonomic variables, namely heart rate (HR), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), pulse transit time (PTT), respiration rate (RSP) and skin conductance parameters (SCL, amplitude, rise time and number of SCRs) were analyzed for rest baseline and stimulation conditions. Analysis of the overall pattern of reaction indicated that autonomic response to tactile stimulation was manifested in a form of moderate HR acceleration, RSP increase, RSA decrease (lowered vagal tone), decreased n and increased electrodermal activity (increased SCL, several SCRs) that reflects general sympathetic activation. Parietal EEG effects (on contra-lateral side to stimulated hand) were featured by short-term alpha-blocking, slightly reduced theta and significantly increased delta and enhanced fast beta activity with few variations across stimuli. The main finding of the study was that most and least preferred textures exhibited significant differences in autonomic (HR, RSP, PTT, SCR, and at less extent in RSA and SCL) and electrocortical responses (delta, slow and fast alpha, fast beta relative power). These differences were recorded both in passive and active stimulation modes, thus demonstrating reproducibility of distinction between most and least emotionally preferred tactile stimuli, suggesting influence of psychological factors, such as emotional property of stimulus, on physiological outcome. Nevertheless, development of sufficiently sensitive .and reliable template for classification of emotional responses to tactile stimulation based on physiological response pattern may require more extensive empirical database.
Recently, the criterion of teachers' qualification has been changed in Korea. 'Teaching Practice' was included new subject in the teaching training system since 2009. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the textbook contents and to propose the direction of textbook writing for 'teaching practice'. So the study contents of this paper are as follows ; First, it is to identify the changes of the teacher training system and the principles of collection on textbook materials. Second, it is to review the trends of the authors' character and the textbook contents on 'Teaching practice'. Finally, it is to proposal the direction of textbook writing for 'teaching practice'. For this study, the researchers collected 15 textbook published in Korea from 2009 to 2011. According to the results, the researchers to present the authors' number, authors' position, the system of chapter topics on the textbook. Based on these finding, the proposition of the textbook writing were present as follows: First, to change the criterion of national documents. Second, to collect the needs on the school fields widely. Third, to grasp the unique identity of subject that is isolated from the previous subjects, Fourth, it is to promote the joint writing form which is include professors and experts in the school field.

The recent real estate development projects are made in very complex due to the diversity of development method or its legal aspects. Under such a real estate investment, the review of investment yield rate is fundamentally important for the one that invests and the one that finances it. Previously, the focus was in the review of the time to turn the surplus or the plan for making repayment of the borrowings, and without the analysis of sufficient investment yield rate. For a simple issue of finding the most advantageous project method, there is a need for reviewing the taxation issues, fund procurement method, legal aspects, policy analysis aspects and others. Therefore, the real estate investment is now likely to encounter the form of having the time of venture as well. In conclusion, the scientific and reasonable decision making in investing on the real estate does not suggest the absolute evaluation standard but the need and the use are more and more demanded.

As consumers' alternatives in fashion store selection increase, they select different store types to purchase different product types. Therefore, the probability of patronage mix behavior according to product type increases. Understanding consumers patronage mix behavior, finding out the determinant attributes of fashion stores for each product type are important to retailers and marketers for building a successful merchandising and marketing strategies. Most of the previous researches in store selection and patronage assume consumer behavior as single store patronage, and thus relatively little is known about patronage mix behavior. Also, little attention has been given to product characteristics as an important variable in store patronage behavior. The purposes of this study were to determine the effects of product characteristics in consumers patronage mix behavior. In this study, a theoretical model including product characteristics as an intervening variable between store attributes and patronage behavior was developed. A Questionnaire was developed and data were collected form 464 adult women living in Seoul area in Korea. Factor analysis, paired t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and discriminant analysis were employed to analyze the data. As a result, the suggested model was partially verified. First, the product characteristic was found to have an effect on perceived importance of store attributes and on determinant attributes of stores. Consumers were found to use different evaluative criteria for store attributes when they purchase different product types. Second, the perceived importance of store attributes was determined by consumer characteristics as well as product characteristics. Third, the determinant attributes in store selection were affected not only by the perceived importance of store attributes but also by the type of product to be purchased.
