  • In the manufacture of integrated circuits, photolithography is the lowest yield step in present production lines. Electron beams form a powerful set of tools with which to attack this problem. Electron beams can be used to make patterns that are smaller than can a photolithography. We design a high voltage generator of electron beam manufacturing system. For this purpose, first, the configuration of electron beam manufacturing system was analyzed. Second, the basic configuration of a high voltage generator and test results were presented.

A New Korean characer Dispaly (가변조합방식의 문자 display에 관한 연구)

  • This study has developed a new system of character generator which is able to display more thats 14,364 different Korean characters by the 24 fundamental input elements. That is. in this system, all of the Korean characters are fomalized into 30 kinds of character forms (each having 70-980 characters), from which six form featuares are detacted to control and combine the fundamental input elements at their proper sizes and positions in a character frame. The device is very simple and all of the Korean characters can be displayed on CRT by the operation of only 24 input keys in good character quality.

  • 본 논문은 인터넷 환경에서의 전자 비즈니스(E-Business) 상황에서 거래 주체들(Trading Partner)간에 교환되어 지는 비즈니스 문서 양식을 생성하기 위해 연구되어 졌다. 기존의 종이 형태 또는 특정 포맷을 갖는 문서 양식이 갖는 문제점은 많은 단계의 제작 과정과 그에 따른 고 비용의 문제, 거래 파트너간의 문서 교환을 통한 상호 운용성(Interoperability)을 확보 할 수 없는 문제들을 가지고 있다. 이에, 인터넷 문서 표준인 XML(extensible Markup Language)과 그 표현을 위한 XSL(extensible Stylesheet Language) 문서를 이용하여 비즈니스 DTD 문서를 기반으로 한 XML 폼 생성기(Form Generator)를 개발하였으며, 그 결과인 폼 XML 문서를 XSL 문서를 이용하여 기존 웹 상에서 이용할 수 있는 HTML 문서로 생성하고, 사용자 입력을 통해서 비즈니스 DTD 문서 구조에 유효한 비즈니스 XML 메시지를 작성할 수 있도록 설계 구현하였다.

  • 인터넷 기반의 B2B(Business To Business) 및 B2C(Business To Customer)의 거래 확대에 따른 비즈니스 상에 이용되어질 문서 양식도 웹(Web)화 되거나 전자화된 전용 양식 형태로 변환되어질 필요가 있다. 이러한 점은 기존의 비즈니스 상에서 이용되어진 종이 형태나 특정 포맷에 의존한 문서 양식이 제작 과정의 여러 단계와 그에 따른 고 비용의 문제를 안고 있으며, 거래 파트너간의 문서 교환을 통한 상호 운용성(Interoperability)을 확보 할 수 없는 문제점을 가지고 있기 때문이다. 이에 본 논문에서는, 인터넷 문서 표준인 XML(eXtensible Markup Language)과 그 표현을 위한 XSL(eXtensible Stylesheet Language) 문서를 이용하여 비즈니스 DTD(Document Type Definition) 문서를 기반을 한 XML 폼 생성기(Form Generator)를 개발하였으며, 그 결과인 폼 XML 문서를 XSL 문서를 이용하여 기존 웹 상에서 이용할 수 있는 HTML 형태의 웹 문서로 생성하고, 사용자 입력을 통해서 비즈니스 DTD 문서 구조에 유효한 비즈니스 XML 메시지를 작성할 수 있도록 설계 및 구현하였다.

A Study on the Measurement of Fracture Resistance Characteristics for Steam Generator Tubes (증기발생기 세관의 파괴저항 특성 측정에 관한 연구)

  • The structural and leakage integrity of steam generator tubes should be sustained against all postulated loads even if a crack is present. During the past three decades, most of the efforts with respect to integrity evaluation of steam generator tubes have been focused on limit load solutions but, recently, the applicability of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics was examined cautiously due to its effectiveness. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a testing method to estimate fracture resistance characteristics of steam generator tubes with a through-wall crack. Due to limited thickness and diameter, inevitably, the steam generator tubes themselves were tested instead of standard specimen or alternative ones. Also, a series of three dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analyses were carried out to derive closed-form estimation equations with respect to J-integral and crack extension for direct current potential drop method. Since the effectiveness of $J_{IC}$ as well as J-R curves was proven through comparison with those of standard specimens taken from pipes, it is believed that the proposed scheme can be utilized as an efficient tool for integrity evaluation of cracked steam generator tubes.

  • With the advent of multimedia era, there are ever increasing interest in computer music and sound syntheis. An FM type sound synthesizing method makes possible the syntheis ofvarious sounds ofmusical instruments with a relatively simple hardware architecture. Therefore, in this paper, we designed a hardware architecture for real-time sound synthesizer and its logic gates. In this paper, we designed a basic sound generator for implementation of real-time logic gates, analzed characteristics of sounds synthesized in this architecture and extracted parameters of FM sounds of musical instruments by using the Csound software. The major bolkcs to build the hardware are a phase-generator, a singe-function-generator, an envelope-generator and a multiplier-part. Finally, logic circuits are designed and verified in VHDL and logic gates by 1.0um standard cell library, which will be easily implementable by the form of ASIC.

  • The generator cost function is one of the basic data for the generation scheduling. Generally the cost functions are obtained form design calculations or from heat rate tests. The real operating condition may be different from the condition of design or the tests. Some of the conditions may not be tested during the periodical maintenance. In order to improve the calculation of the generator cost function, this paper presents a new calculation method of the generator cost functions using the utilization factors of generators and the mixed fuel burning ratio of the generators.

  • Antarctic King Sejong Station was established in King George Island, the South Pole in 1988, and has been executing the monitoring studies on the change of antarctic natural environment. As an available power, the wind energy generator has been used in the form of hybrid with mainly diesel generator. Because the wind generation power sharply changes by wind energy, it must be careful during the system operation. When the power system becomes stable, the output performance of wind energy generator becomes stable. But, in case of unstable system, the errors frequently occur on the wind energy generator and it badly impacts the power system by output of wind energy generator. The purpose of this paper is to analyze suitability while operating the system of 10kW wind energy generator at Antarctic King Sejong Station, an isolated area, and to analyze the problem and improvements by power quality.

  • We present the results of a study of a piezoelectric generator that generates electricity by the application of tension to an element. A device is named "EYE-type generator". The EYE-type generator consists of a rectangular ceramic and two elastic body plates that are attached to upper and lower surfaces of a ceramic. If tension is applied to both ends of the elastic body, that tension is transformed to pressure on the ceramic through a change in the form of the elastic body, causing a piezoelectric effect whereby electricity is generated by the ceramic. This generator is relatively durable because a forces are not applied directly to the ceramic. We examined dependencies of the generator's output characteristics on the size of the ceramic and elastic body. A resonance and output characteristics were analyzed by using a finite element method. The generator was fabricated based on results of the analysis, and this was attached to a frequency-controllable vibrator to measure the output characteristics. The measured results were compared with results of the simulation, and the results pointed to the practicality of the design.

A Form-finding Technique for Three-dimensional Spatial Structures

  • A form-finding technique is proposed for three-dimensional spatial structures. Two-step discrete finite element (FE) mesh generator based on computer aided geometric design (CAGD) is introduced and used to control the shape of three-dimensional spatial structures. Mathematical programming technique is adopted to search new forms (or shapes) of spatial structures. For this purpose, the strain energy is introduced as the objective function to be minimized and the initial volume (or the initial weight) is considered as constraint function. Numerical examples are carried out to test the capability of the proposed form-finding techniques and provided as benchmark tests.
