119 구급대원의 법의학 지식에 대한 연구 (Assessing the forensic knowledge of 119 emergency medical technicians)

  • Purpose: It is crucial that 119 emergency medical technician (EMT) have adequate knowledge regarding forensic science. This study aimed to assess the forensic knowledge of EMTs in the Republic of Korea. Methods: This study was conducted on EMTs of five fire stations in D metropolitan city between August 6 and August 13, 2018. A questionnaire consisting of items on crime-related incident recognition (i.e., mechanical asphyxiation, trauma, sex crimes, and child abuse), forensic evidence management (i.e., evidence collection, preservation, and recording) was administered to the participants. Finally, 119 questionnaires were analyzed. Results: The ratio of correct answers for crime-related incidents recognition was 55.82%, which was lower than that for forensic evidence management(84.5%). In particular, the scores for the type of neck compression(16.5%) and wound assessment(44.0%) were low. The percentage of correct answers for forensic evidence management was 78.4% for evidence collection, 84.4% for evidence preservation, and 90.6% for evidence recording. Previous forensic education experience was not a significant variable. Conclusion: Specific and practical forensic science education on perception of crime-related incident, including asphyxia and wound identification, and forensic evidence collection is needed.

  • Because people who take more than two drugs have increases, a simple and sensitive method for the simultaneous analysis of amphetamine, methamphetamine and nalbuphine in urine was developed. After alkalinization of the urine samples with 6 N-NaOH, the analytes were extracted using ethyl acetate, derivatized with MSTFA : TSIM : TMCS (= 100 : 2 : 5) prior to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) analysis with selected ion monitoring. Effectiveness of interference filter for photoluminescence observations: comparison with absorption filters

  • Currently, most photoluminescence reagents used in forensic science have short stokes shift, making it difficult to observe strong photoluminescence due to scattering light from forensic light sources when using filters that are not shieldable. However interference filters can be observed near monochromatic light, making them a better alternative to absorption filters. To verify practical applicability of interference filters, interference filters and three other types of previously frequently used absorption filters were observed using a variety of light source products, and transmission light was cross-compared. Interference filters have a lower slope value than absorption filters, and selectively show only the photoluminescence of reagents, regardless of the type of product from the forensic light source. In addition, tilting the angle of the filter surface for observation lowered the λcut-on, which could replace various types of absorption filters with a single interference filter.

응급실 간호사의 법의간호학적 역할의 인지와 수행정도 (The Awareness and Performance of the Forensic Nursing Role in Emergency Departments)

  • Purpose: This study attempted to measure the awareness and performance of the forensic nursing role among the emergency department (ED) nurses to emphasize the presence of forensic nurses in ED and suggest encouraging essential forensic nursing education. Methods: A quantitative descriptive survey using a questionnaire was carried out to the nurses, who had a minimum of 6 months experience in the ED. This study was conducted at 7 hospitals in the Republic of Korea. Results: A total of 124 nurses were enrolled. As to the Awareness of the forensic nursing role, all the core data obtained an average of 3.39 points out of 4 points, and the documentation category was the highest score of 3.57. For the performance of the forensic nursing role, all the core data obtained an average of 2.50 points out of 4 points, and a documentation category acquired the highest score of 2.91. There is a significant correlation of (r=.452, p<.001) the awareness and performance of the forensic nursing role. Conclusion: Currently, the awareness regarding the forensic nursing role is low level. Therefore, the performance of forensic nursing role has also become low level. Consequently, forensic nursing education is essential for ED nurses to preserve evidence accurately.

  • 클라우드 컴퓨팅 서비스의 확산으로 범죄수사를 위한 증거수집의 관점에서 불확실성으로 인한 다양한 실무적이고 법적인 문제가 제기되고 있다. 이 논문은 클라우드 환경에 대한 일반적인 수사상의 논점을 개관하고, 관할과 국제공조를 비롯한 문제점을 진단한다. 실무적으로 직접적으로 수사관이 접속하는 경우와 서비스제공자의 협조를 받는 경우의 장단점을 비교하여 실무적 개선방안을 논의하고 이에 따른 관할의 중복과 서비스 약정 및 포렌식적으로 무결한 데이터 수집 등 법률적 쟁점을 정리한다.

Application study of PCR additives to improve the split peaks in direct PCR

  • Analysis techniques using DNA profiling are widely used in various fields including forensic science and new technologies such as the Direct PCR amplification method are being developed continuously in order to acquire the DNA profiles efficiently. However, it has a limits such as non-specific amplification according to the quality of crime scene evidence samples. Especially, split peaks caused by excessive DNA samples are one of the important factors that could cause the debate to allow researchers to interpret the DNA profile results. In this study, we confirmed the occurrence rate of split peaks in each STR (short tandem repeats) locus of the $GlobalFiler^{TM}$ kit and investigated the possibility of improving the split peaks using several PCR additives such as DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide), $MgCl_2$, Betaine and Tween-20. As a result, we could make three groups according to the occurrence rate of split peaks in Direct PCR and it was confirmed that the ratio of split peaks could be reduced by DMSO (87.4 %), $MgCl_2$ (84.5 %) and Betaine (86.1 %), respectively. These results indicate that PCR additives such as DMSO, $MgCl_2$ and Betaine can be improve the split peaks in Direct PCR and thereby facilitate subsequently a successful DNA profile results.

임상병리학과 학생들의 법의학 교육의 요구도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Educational Requirement of Forensic Medicine for Biomedical Laboratory Science)

  • 임상병리학과 학생들의 법의학 교육에 대한 인식개선의 방법을 개선하고, 활성화를 위한 방안을 제시할 목적으로 대구지역 대구보건대학교 임상병리학과 학생 100명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 법의학 과목에 대한 인식 및 요구도에 대한 항목들을 빈도 분석하였다. 그 결과 대부분의 학생들이 법의학이라는 인식이 많이 높은 수준으로 조사되었다. 100 응답자 중, 법의학대한 인식 질문에 94 (94 %) 그것을 알고 있다고 조사되었으며 법의학에 대한 기대 또한 높게 조사되었다. 현재 임상병리과 학생들에게서는 법의학 교육의 인식 및 교육의 요구도가 매우 높았다. 따라서 대학 교육과정에 임상병리사가 되기 위한 중점과목에만 집중하는 것보다 전문적 영역 확대와 활성화를 위해 법의학 과목을 통해 특히 임상병리사의 취업을 위한 방안으로 소개하는 프로그램의 도입이 필요하다.
