  • A folksonomy is a new classification approach for organizing information by users to freely attach one or more tags to various resources published on the web. Recently, in order to provide useful services and organize the folksonomy data, many collaborative tagging systems based on folksonomy offer additional functionalities for grouping each elements of a folksonomy. In this paper, organization framework for grouped folksonomy is proposed. That is, we suggest the grouped folksonomy model that is an extended folksonomy with the concept of "group" and fundamental operations(Group Aggregation, Group Composition, Group Intersection, Group Difference) for grouping of folksonomy elements. Also, we developed a supporting tool(GFO) that constructs grouped folksonomy and executes fundamental operations. And we introduce some cases using the fundamental operations for grouping of each elements of folksonomy. Based on suggested our approach, we can construct grouped folksonomy and organize and extract useful information from the folksonomy data by grouping each elements of a folksonomy.

  • This study intends to make a comprehensive inquiry into the meaning and limitations of Folksonomy, and to explore how to make full use of Folksonomy in library cataloging. To this end, this study examined as follows : (1) how the philosophical meaning of Folksonomy is different from traditional principles of library cataloging, (2) what the viewpoint of LIS scholars toward Folksonomy are, and how North American libraries have customized Folksonomy for their catalogs. In addition, (3) usefulness of Folksonomy in library catalogs is thoroughly discussed. Based on these, (4) the final discussion includes strategies for Korean LIS scholars and library practitioners to consider when applying Folksonomy to Korea library contexts.

  • The most of navigation services these days, are designed in order to just provide a shortest path from current position to destination for a user. Several navigation services provides not only the path but some fragmentary information about its point, but, the data tends to be highly restricted because it's quality and quantity totally depends on service provider's providing policy. In this paper, we describe the folksonomy POI(Point of interest) recommender system using mashup in order to provide the information that is more useful to the user. The POI recommender system mashes-up the user's folksonomy data that stacked by user with using external folksonomy service(like Flickr) with others' in order to provide more useful information for the user. POI recommender system recommends others' tag data that is evaluated with the user folksonomy similarity. Using folksonomy mahup makes the services can provide more information that is applied the users' karma. By this, we show how to deal with the data's restrictions of quality and quantity.

  • In contrast to traditional taxonomy, folksonomy is generated not only by experts but also by creators and consumers of the content. Folksonomy is the practice and method of collaboratively creating and managing tags to annotate and categorize content. It is also known as collaborative tagging or social indexing. Folksonomy is also used to link to create social network that connect people to people who share same interest. Folksonomy users can generally discover the contents by which the tag sets of another user who tends to interpret contents in a way that makes sense to them. Firstly, this study consider the significance and some critical issues about folksonomy. Secondly, analyze special features of Korean academic site's folksonomy, which is managed by academic information site. Accordingly consider the directions of development about folksonomy system.

  • Folksonomy is a user-generated taxonomy to organize information by which a user assigns tags to resources published on the web. Triadic datas that indicate relations of between users, tags, and resources, are created by collaborative tagging from many users in folksonomy-based system. Such the folksonomy data has been utilized in the field of the semantic web and web2.0 as metadata about web resources. In this paper, we propose FCA-based folksonomy data mining approach in order to extract the useful information from folksonomy data with various points of view. And we developed tool for supporting our approach. In order to verify the usefulness of our proposed approach and FMT, we have done some experiments for data of del.icio.us, which is a popular folksonomy-based bookmarking system. And we report about result of our experiments.

  • Metadata and folksonomy are two main approaches in representing, organizing, and retrieving resources in the current information environment. Many researches have conducted studies to combine of metadata and folksonomy in order to utilize the strengths of both approaches. This research proposed an approach to utilize both metadata and folksonomy in representing resources by using microcontents. Microcontents in this research is a conceptual structure that reflects dynamic characteristics of folksonomy and the structure of metadata. By connecting folksonomy with metadata through this microcontents structure, both approaches can maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses in representing, organizing, and retrieving resources.

  • Folksonomy, which is collaborative classification created by freely selected keywords, is one of the driving factors of the web 2.0. Folksonomy has advantage of being built at low cost while its weakness is lack of hierarchical or systematic structure in comparison with taxonomy. If we can build classifier that is able to classify web resources from collective intelligence in taxonomy, we can build taxonomy at low cost. In this paper, targeting folksonomy in Slashdot.org, we define a general model and show that collective intelligence, which can build classifier, really exists in folksonomy using a stability value. We suggest method that builds SVM classifier using stability that is result from this collective intelligence. The experiment shows that our proposed method managed to build taxonomy from folksonomy with high accuracy.

  • This research aims to present the ego-centered topic citation analysis, which is a new application of White's ego-centered citation analysis, for analyzing multilayered knowledge structure of a subject domain. An experimental topic citation analysis was carried out on the folksonomy research documents retrieved from Web of Science. Ego-centered topic citation analyses on folksonomy research domain were conducted in three stages: ego-documents set analysis, topic citation identity analysis, and topic citation image analysis. The results showed that the ego-centered topic citation analysis suggested in this study was successfully performed to illustrate the inner and the outer knowledge structures of folksonomy research domain.
