  • This qualitative case study focused on the activation plan of flexible work arrangements. We selected eight workers from a foreign affiliated firm that has various flexible work arrangements for in-depth interview and focus group interview. The workers were categorized into two groups; those who have experiences with flexible working and those who have needs for flexible working. We analyzed their condition of work-family life and experiences with flexible working. Through the focus group interview, we can find out the needs and suggestions about activation plans of flexible work arrangements.

  • The aim of this research is to understand the perceptions of primary and secondary teachers regarding educational resource sharing systems(ERS) by using a qualitative approach. This study conducted Focus Group Interview(FGI) with 20 primary and secondary school teachers. Interview data were analyzed through inductive content analysis method. The results are as follows. First, teachers placed significant emphasis on high-quality, convenient functions, and reward system for sharing resources. Specifically, teachers identified the necessity for a diverse array of materials, systematic categorization of these resources, and the provision of monetary compensation as essential components. Second, the study participants advocated strategies for revitalizing ERS including enhancing accessibility, constructing user-friendly features, increasing awareness, and establishing a reward system to incentivize the resource sharing. In particular, teachers proposed strategies such as developing mobile-based services and AIdriven data recommendation system. These results provide actionable insights for stakeholders engaged in the design, implementation, and evaluation of resource sharing platforms.

  • This research aims to evaluate the effects and the shortcomings of strategies for teaching paraphrasing to foreign university students. For this study, the effects of teaching paraphrasing skills on student's academic writing was investigated through the assessment of pre- and post-test writing tasks and through a focus group interview. The teaching of paraphrasing was divided into 3 instructional sessions and the focus group interview was conducted at the end of the last session. After each instructional session three trained assessors evaluated the outcomes of pre and post task writings; the in-depth focus group interviews were conducted on seven of the students in order to define better positive effects as well as shortcomings. By comparing the scores of pre- and post-task assignments it is possible to affirm that there is a meaningful difference for overall scores; moreover, in an analysis conducted on each single sub-element of the paraphrasing skill, it emerged that except for "task completion", all other four elements of "structure", "understanding core content", "change of expression" and "academic expressions" showed a statistically significant improvement in performance. On the other hand, as a result of the focus group interview, it was possible to individuate as main shortcomings insufficient vocabulary knowledge, poor overall comprehension of the reference material, lack of practice and difficulty in connect sentences organically. It is possible to consider these elements as limiting factors in understanding the reference material and making correct citations by the students. Therefore, we suggest as supplementary instructional strategies a deeper attention to the difficulty level of the text, the introduction of devices to understand better the content of the reference material and an integrated practice of the paraphrasing skill.

  • Purpose : The demand for skilled critical care nurses and the significant impact of the practice-readiness gap underscore the need for educational programs bridging nursing education and clinical practice. This would ensure safe, high-quality patient care and a stable workforce. This study aimed to explore the educational needs of critical care nurses to develop an essential nursing education program for nursing students, addressing the practice-readiness gap they may encounter as new nurses. Methods : The study espoused a qualitative approach by utilizing focus group interviews conducted in South Korea in April and May 2022. A total of 11 nurses participated in the study. Data were collected from three focus groups, each consisting of three to four nurses from intensive care units. Focus group interviews were conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire. Content analysis was performed on the interview data using thematic analysis. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the institutional review board. Results : Nursing education programs in intensive care units should prioritize fundamental nursing competencies such as basic nursing and physical examinations. Participants' critical care nursing education needs were categorized into four main themes: holistic nursing competency, advancement of practical education, skilled communication, and systematic critical care nursing education. Conclusion : The study's findings provide valuable insights and guidelines for developing critical and intensive care nursing education programs tailored for nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the components of the geriatric robot pet, which might be helpful in caring for elderly people in the future. Focus group interview-with two focus groups-was performed between August 2014 and December 2014. Study participants were 13 geriatric experts from nursing, medicine, social work, and physical/occupational therapy. All interview data were transcribed, followed by debriefing and a qualitative content analysis. Three main themes emerged: acknowledgment of the usefulness of geriatric robot pet, establishment of elderly-centered appearance, and the functions of the robot pet to meet the needs of elders and family members. The robot pet was considered to be useful to elders who live alone since they can benefit from companionship and care provided by the robot pet. Geriatric robot pet needs to be manageable in size and weight, like a small dog. Moreover, a function that allows for interaction with and monitoring the elderly would be beneficial. The baseline elements that could guide further development of contents for the Korean geriatric robot pet were proposed from the results of FGI. Studies that validate these elements are necessary.

  • This research has studied developing the persona model based on alan cooper's user oriented design which is newly in the limelight in the field of product design process. As developing the persona model, In-depth interview and FGI(focus group interview) has been conducted for extracting car navigation user group's motivation and using attribute. Based on research, three different car navigation user group were divided-low using & understanding the function group, medium using & well understanding the function group, heavy using & well understanding the function group. This research yielded the foundation for setting the persona model and this persona gives the key factor for producing the user oriented user Interface design after all.
