Despite enduring diverse insults, mitochondria maintain normal functions through mitochondrial quality control. However, the failure of mitochondrial quality control resulting from excess damage and mechanical defects causes mitochondrial dysfunction, leading to various human diseases. Recent studies have reported that mitochondrial defects are found in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and worsen AD symptoms. In AD pathogenesis, mitochondrial dysfunction-driven generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their contribution to neuronal damage has been widely studied. In contrast, studies on mitochondrial dysfunction-associated inflammatory responses have been relatively scarce. Moreover, ROS produced upon failure of mitochondrial quality control may be linked to the inflammatory response and influence the progression of AD. Thus, this review will focus on inflammatory pathways that are associated with and initiated through defective mitochondria and will summarize recent progress on the role of mitochondria-mediated inflammation in AD. We will also discuss how reducing mitochondrial dysfunction-mediated inflammation could affect AD.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the resource allocation problem in a self organizing network from the viewpoint of game theory. The main focus is to suggest the model and analyze a power control algorithm in wireless ad-hoc networks using non cooperative games. Our approach is based on a model for the level of satisfaction and utility a wireless user in a self organizing network derives from using the system. Using this model, we show a distributed power control scheme that maximizes utility of each user in the network. Formulating this as a non-cooperative game we will show the feasibility of such power control as well as existence of the Nash Equilibrium achieved by the non-cooperative game.
To an increasing extent, case-control studies are being undertaken to determine if use of early detection procedures is associated with reduced mortality from cancer. The authors recommend that in such studies the analysis focus on screening activity in cases that occurs during an interval prior to diagnosis in which the cancer is believed to be detectable and still curable and to a corresponding time period in controls. This approach places a heavy burden on the investigator to estimate accurately the period during which the tumor ought to be detectable using the test in question and to sort out reliably tests done in response to signs or symptoms of the cancer from screening tests per se. Nonetheless, the authors feel that it offers the greatest ability to discern a true benefit of screening, while minimizing the numerous potential biases that can be present in this type of study.
Contactless power transfer technology is gaining increasing attention in city transportation applications because of its high mobility and flexibility in charging and its commensurate power level with conductive power transfer method. In this study, an inductively coupled contactless charging system for a 48 V light electric vehicle is proposed. Although this study does not focus on system efficiency, the generic problems in an inductively coupled contactless power transfer system without ferromagnetic structure are discussed. An active load matching method is also proposed to control the power transfer on the receiving side through a load matching converter. Small signal modeling and linear control technology are applied to the load matching converter for port voltage regulation, which effectively controls the power flow into the load. A prototype is built, and experiments are conducted to reveal the intrinsic characteristics of a series-series resonant inductive power charger in terms of frequency, air gap length, power flow control, coil misalignment, and efficiency issues.
This paper presents a neutral point deviation compensating control algorithm applied to a 3-level NPC converter. The neutral point deviation is analyzed with a focus on the current flowing out of or into the neutral point of the dc link. Based on the zero sequence components of the reference voltages, this paper analyzes the neutral point deviation and balancing control for 3-level NPC converter. An analytical method is proposed to calculate the injected zero sequence voltage for NP balancing based on average neutral current. This paper also proposes a control scheme compensating for the neutral point deviation under generalized unbalanced grid operating conditions. The positive and negative sequence components of the pole voltages and ac input currents are employed to accurately explain the behavior of 3-level NPC converter. Simulation and experimental results for a test set up of 30kW are shown to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.
Following the intuition that the local information in time instances is hardly incorporated into the posterior sequence in long short-term memory (LSTM), this paper proposes an attention augmented mechanism for fault diagnosis of the complex chemical process data. Unlike conventional fault diagnosis and classification methods, an attention mechanism layer architecture is introduced to detect and focus on local temporal information. The augmented deep network results preserve each local instance's importance and contribution and allow the interpretable feature representation and classification simultaneously. The comprehensive comparative analyses demonstrate that the developed model has a high-quality fault classification rate of 95.49%, on average. The results are comparable to those obtained using various other techniques for the Tennessee Eastman benchmark process.

Recently, there has been an increase in research on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) because they are easy to deploy in applications such as internet-of-things (IoT) and body area networks. However, WSNs have constraints in terms of power, quality-of-service (QoS), computation, and others. To overcome the power constraint issues, wireless energy harvesting has been introduced into WSNs, the application of which has been the focus of many studies. Additionally, to improve system performance in terms of achievable rate, cooperative networks are also being explored in WSNs. We present a review on current research in the area of energy harvesting in WSNs, specifically on the application of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) in a cooperative sensor network. In addition, we discuss possible future extensions of SWIPT and cooperative networks in WSNs.
One of the most widely studied protocols for tactical ad-hoc networks is Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR). As for OLSR research, most research work focus on reducing control traffic overhead and choosing relay point. In addition, because OLSR is mostly dependent on link detection and propagation, dynamic Hello timer become research challenges. However, different timer interval causes imbalance of link validity time by affecting link lifetime. To solve this problem, we propose a weighted topology graph model for constructing a robust network topology based on the link validity time. In order to calculate the link validity time, we use control message timer, which is set for each node. The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism is able to achieve high end-to-end reliability and low end-to-end delay in small networks.
In this paper we proposed the aerodynamic numerical analysis with linear matrix inequality theorem of intelligent control, which is believed to be applicable in the application not only a function of the block size and reduced wind speed but itself depends on both the size and the aspect ratio of the structure, not on the total scruton number. In order to improve the accuracy of the results, the optimization curve was optimized for the test to evaluate the response in the time of achieving the results and we focus on the results that found a significant influence from the assumptions used for damage propagation for aircraft structural analysis of composite materials. Finally, the numerical simulations confirmed the effectiveness of the method.
Epidemiological models, also known as host-agent-vector-environment models, are utilized in public health to gain insights into disease occurrence and to formulate intervention strategies. In this paper, we propose an epidemiological model that incorporates both conventional measures and tobacco endgame policies. Our model suggests that conventional measures focus on relationships among agent-vector-host-environment components, whereas endgame policies inherently aim to change or eliminate those components at a fundamental level. We also found that the vector (tobacco industry) and environment (physical and social surroundings) components were insufficiently researched or controlled by both conventional measures and tobacco endgame policies. The use of an epidemiological model for tobacco control and the tobacco endgame is recommended to identify areas that require greater effort and to develop effective intervention measures.
