  • Aluminium foam material is a highly porous material having complicated cellular structure defined by randomly distributed air pores in metallic matrix. this structure gives the aluminium a set of properties which cannot be achieved by any of conventional treatments. The properties of aluminium foam material significantly depend on its porosity, so that a desired profile of properties can be tailored by changing the foam density. Melting method is the one of foaming processes, which the production has long been considered difficult to realize becaues of such problems as the low foamability of molten metal, the varying size of. cellular structures, solidification shrinkage and so on. These problems, however, have gradually been solved by researchers and some manufacturers are now producing foamed aluminum by their own methods. Most of all, the parameters of solving problem in electric furnace were stirring temperature, stirring velocity, foaming temper:iture, and so on. But it has not considered about those in induction heating, foaming velocity and foaming temperature in semi-solid state yet. Therefore, this paper presents the effects on these parameter to control cell size, quantity and distribution.

알루미늄 캔 스크랩의 고품위 재활용을 위한 발포금속의 제조 (Fabrication of Aluminum Foams for High Profit Recycling of Aluminum Can Scraps)

  • The main emphasis of this study is to optimize the process variables for manufacturing aluminum foam materials by direct foaming of remelted aluminum scraps. Aluminum foams were fabricated from two different raw materials, pure aluminum and used beverage cans. For both cases, $TiH_{2}$ was used as a foaming agent. Calcium was added as a thickener for the foaming of pure aluminum and no thickener was added for that of used beverage Cans because the pre-existing oxides of the used beverage cans are used as a thickener. Calcium and $TiH_{2}$ content varies from 0.5wt.% to 2.0wt.% and from 0.5wt.% to 1.5wt.%, respectively. The processing conditions, such as the effect of calcium on the melt viscosity, foaming temperature, and the optimum amount of the foaming agent with regard to the melt viscosity were discussed.

  • According to the industrialization the using of polymers is increased by their mechanical or commercial demands. At now, the using of polymers is become bigger and bigger than yet. On the other words, our whole life is covered by the polymers. Due to the extended polymer using, the material cost is higher and higher. Therefore, the people used the polymer foaming process using the gas. The polymer foaming using the pentane or butane gas is prohibited by the government cause of the explosiveness and non-environmental friendly. Therefore, the members of MIT invented the Micro-cellular Polymer Foaming in 1980. The Micro-cellular Polymers has many cells in the polymer matrix. By compare between non-foamed polymers, the Micro-cellular Polymers have low material cost, soundproof and shock less. The purpose of this study is to study the twice foamed polymer by batch process. To know the reaction by step of microcellular foaming process, we measure the density of polymer. And to viewing the cell morphology, we used the scanning electron microscopy(SEM).

용제형 저기포성 정련제의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Preparation of Solvent Type Low Foaming Scouring Agents)

  • 2-Ethylhexylaminoethyl sulfate, Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate, Newpol PP-2000, MJU-100, 에틸렌글리콜 및 유기용제 등을 블렌딩하여 저기포성 정련제(SLFS)를 제조하였다. SLFS로서 여러가지 물성시험을 해 본 결과, SLFS-2는 정련효과, 침투력, 유화력, 내알칼리성 등이 양호하였으며, 수질오염에 대한 영향이 크지 않았다. 또한 SLFS-2는 Ross & Miles법에 의한 거품생성 직후의 기포력이 포고 8mm로 나타났고, Ross & Clark법에 의한 기포력이 $30^{\circ}C$에서는 포고 300mm 이하로, $80^{\circ}C$에서는 15mm를 각각 나타내어 양호한 저기포성 정련제임이 입증되었다.

Effect of Irradiation on the Mixture of Egg White Proteins Responsible for Foaming Property

  • Irradiation of egg white increased foaming ability significantly. To investigate the protein modification by irradiation responsible for the increase of foaming ability, 3 major egg white proteins were purchased and mixed (7.7 g/L ovalbumin, 1.8 g/L ovotransferrin, 0.5 g/L lysozyme) as a model system and irradiated at 0, 2.5, and 5 kGy. The different protein expressions were evaluated using 2-D electrophoresis and it was found that ovotransferrin was cleaved by irradiation and molecular weight and isoelectric point were changed. In addition, many uncharacterized proteins were found and it indicated that irradiation modified proteins randomly but mainly fragmentation was observed. Therefore, it can be concluded that protein fragmentation of 3 major egg white proteins responsible for foaming ability may be the main reason for the improvement of foaming ability.

An Environment-Friendly Surface Pretreatment of ABS Plastic for Electroless Plating Using Chemical Foaming Agents

  • We have developed an environment-friendly etching process, an alternative to the dichromic acid etching process, as a pretreatment of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic for electroless plating. In order to plate ABS plastic in an electroless way, there should be fine holes on the surface of the ABS plastic to enhance mechanically the adhesion strength between the plastic surface and the plate. To make these holes, the surface was coated uniformly with dispersed chemical foaming agents in a mixture of environmentally friendly dispersant and solvent by the methods of dipping or direct application. The solvent seeps into just below the surface and distributes the chemical foaming agents uniformly beneath the surface. After drying off the surface, the surface was heated at a temperature well below the glass transition temperature of ABS plastic. By pyrolysis, the chemical foaming agents made fine holes on the surface. In order to discover optimum conditions for the formation of fine holes, the mixing ratio of the solvent, the dispersant and the chemical foaming agent were controlled. After the etching process, the surface was plated with nickel. We tested the adhesion strength between the ABS plastic and nickel plate by the cross-cutting method. The surface morphologies of the ABS plastic before and after the etching process were observed by means of a scanning electron microscope.

난백 거품형성능력 및 안정성 평가를 위한 간편 측정방법과 실용성 검증 (Convenient Method for the Determination of Foaming Properties of Egg White and Its Verification)

  • 본 연구에서는 난백의 거품형성능력 및 안정성을 간편하게 평가하기 위한 표준방법을 제시하고자 시료의 양, whipping 속도 및 시간이 거품형성에 미치는 영향을 조사하고 적합한 거품형성조건을 선정하였다. 선정된 조건(시료량 70g, 1,200rpm, 2분)으로 난백의 거품형성능력 및 안정성을 20회 반복 측정하여 평가한 결과 높은 재현성을 나타내었으며 시료의 변화(신선한 난백, 동결건조 난백분말, 상업용 난백분말) 및 계란의 저장기간에 따른 거품형성능력 및 안정성의 유의적 차이를 효과적으로 구별할 수 있었다.

기포제를 사용한 경량 콘크리트의 역학적 특성 및 동결융해 평가에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Freezing-Thawing and Mechanical Properties of Lightweight Foamed Concrete Using Micro Foaming Agent)

  • This research is focused on the applying of the foaming agent which can make the independent pore in the concrete structure in order to make a lightweight concrete structure. This lightweight foamed concrete can satisfy both the required strength and the mechanical properties as structural members. In addition, anti freezing-thawing properties also required. As a result of the unit volume-weight measurement, when the foaming agent mixed at 0.5% to 1%, the lightweight foamed concrete can be applied for the structural member. Also the density and compressive strength measurement results reveals that it will be suitable as structural member with 21MPa strength, when the density is betweenity8 to 1.9 and foaming agent quantities are 0.5% to 1%. Finally the result of freezing-thawing experiment, the effect freezing-thawing damage reduced according to adding foaming agent because those foaming agent make micro-pores in the structure which are not seen in the ordinary concrete structure.

기포제(起泡劑)가 모르터의 특성(特性)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Foaming Agent on the Characteristic of Mortar)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 기포제(起泡劑)가 모르터의 특성(特性)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 연구(硏究)하기 위(爲)하여 기포(氣泡) 모르터의 물-시멘트 비(比)시험(試驗)과 밀도시험(密度試驗)을 배합별(配合別), 기포제별(起泡劑別)로 실시(實施)하였으며, 그 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 물-시멘트비(比)는 배합비(配合比) 1 : 4, G, U 및 J 기포제(起泡劑) 첨가량(添加量) 0.5%에서 90.0%, 88.3% 및 70.0%로 가장 크게 나타났으나, 보통(普通)모르터의 물-시멘트비(比) 91.6%보다는 작게 나타났다. 2. 물-시멘트비(比)의 감소율(減少率)은 보통(普通)모르터에 비(比)하여 G 및 U 기포(氣包)모르터에서 배합비(配合比) 1 : 3, 기포제(起包劑) 첨가량(添加量) 3.0%일 때 22.0%와 24.1%로 가장 크게 나타났고, 이 보다 부배합(富配合)이나 빈배합(貧配合)일수록 작게 나타났다. 또한 J 기포제(起包劑)에서는 배합비(配合比) 1 : 4, 기포제(起包劑) 첨가량(添加量) 3.0%에서 물-시멘트 비감소율(比減少率)이 53.1%로 가장 크게 나타났고 이보다 부배합(富配合) 일수록 작게 나타났다. 3. 밀도(密度)는 배합비(配合比) 1 : 1, G, U 및 J 기포제(起包劑) 첨가량(添加量) 0.5%에서 $1.981g/cm^3$, $1.863g/cm^3$$1.149g/cm^3$로 가장 크게 나타났으나, 보통(普通)모르터의 밀도(密度) $2.048g/cm^3$보다는 작게 나타났다. 4. 밀도(密度)의 감소율(減少率)은 보통(普通)모르터에 비(比)하여 G, U 및 J 기포(氣泡)모르터에서 배합비(配合比) 1 : 2, 기포제(起包劑) 첨가량(添加量) 3.0%일 때 20.7%, 23.7% 및 56.5%로 가장 크게 나타났으나, 이보다 부배합(富配合)이거나 빈배합(貧配合)일수록 밀도(密度)의 감소율(減少率)은 작게 나타났다. 5. 물-시멘트비(比)와 밀도(密度)는 기포제(起泡劑)의 첨가량(添加量)이 증가(增加)할수록 감소(減少)되었으며, 또한 배합비(配合比)와 기포제(起包劑) 첨가량(添加量)에 따라 물-시멘트비(比)와 밀도(密度)를 추정(推定)할 수 있는 다중회귀방정식(多重回歸方程式)도 유도(誘導)되었다.

  • 발포체를 성형하기 위한 방법으로는 여러 가지 방법이 있는데 일반적으로 가장 많이 사용되는 방법으로는 발포제를 섞은 레진을 고온, 고압상태에서 발포하는 가압발포 방법과, 압을 주지 않은 고온의 상태에서 발포하는 상압발포 방법이 있다. 발포에 사용되는 고분자들은 상압상태에서 발포를 시키기 위해서는 최적 발포조건에 대한 설계 및 분석이 필요하다. 친환경 바이오 기반 폴리머는 단독으로는 발포가 힘든 문제가 있어 기존의 발포체 제조가 가능한 수지를 혼합하여 발포체를 제조하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 바이오 기반 고분자의 함량 변화에 따른 바이오 기반 고분자와 EVA 혼합 발포체의 특성변화에 대해서 연구하였으며 가교도에 따른 최적 발포 조건에 대해서 연구하였다. 발포체의 기계적 특성 분석을 통해서 발포특성과의 상관관계에 대해서 연구하였다. 이 연구를 통해 바이오 기반 폴리머의 함량이 바이오 기반 폴리머가 포함된 발포체의 물성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알 수 있었고 상압 및 가압 발포 공정에 따른 차이점을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 바이오 기반 폴리머-EVA 복합 발포체의 상용화 가능성을 확인하였다.
