GUI Modeling을 기반으로한 선박의 HVAC System 소음 해석 (The Noise Analysis of Ship HVAC System Based on GUI Modeling)

  • One of the main noise sources in cabin onboard ships is HVAC system. Up to now, the HVAC system designer manually calculates the HVAC system noise, or uses the program that is generally based on text user interface. In such a case, it is difficult to use the program and also to obtain the flow induced noise. In this study, the HVAC noise analysis program has been developed, which is based on GUI user interface that include 3.D modelling and model modification modules. For calculation of the insertion loss of HVAC system elements, NEBB experimental data and plane wave theory are used. And in order to obtain the flow rate information in each HVAC elements which is used to calculate the flow induced noise calculation, Global Converging Newton-Rapson Method is used.

2상 횡유동에서 열교환기 관군 배치에 다른 진동특성 고찰 (The effects of tube bundle geometry on vibration in two-phase cross-flow)

  • Two-phase cross-flow exists in many shell-tube heat exchangers such as steam generators, condensers and reboilers. An understanding of flow-induced vibration excitation mechanism is necessary to avoid problems due to excessive tube vibration. This paper presents the results of a series of experiments done on tube bundles of different geometries subjected to two-phase cross-flow simulated by air-water mixtures. Normal(30$^{\circ}$) and rotated (60$^{\circ}$)triangular, and normal(90$^{\circ}$) and rotated (45$^{\circ}$) square tube bundle configurations of pitch-to-diameter ratio of 1.2 to 1.5 were tested over a range of mass fluxes from 0 to 1,000kg/$m^2$ㆍ s and void fraction from 0 to 100%. The effects of tube bundle geometry on vibration excitation mechanism such as fluidelastic instability and random turbulence, and on dynamic parameters such as damping and hydrodynamic mass are discussed. A lower pitch-to-diameter results in a higher hydrodynamic mass. The effect of tube bundle configurations on damping and random turbulence excitation is minor. The effect of pitch-to-diameter on the fluidelastic instability, however, is significant.

광 디스크 드라이브 내부 유동장에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flow Fields in an Optical Disc Drive)

  • The present study investigates flow characteristics in an optical disc drive (ODD). Detailed knowledge of the flow characteristics is essential to analyze flow-induced noise and vibration, forced convection and flow friction loss. The ODD used in a personal computer is used for the experiment and rotating velocity of disc is under the 4500 rpm. Time-resolved velocity component and velocity spectrum are obtained using the laser Doppler anemometry (LDA), and the flow patterns induced by rotating disc in the ODD are calculated by a commercial finite volume method at the same time. The results show that the front holes reduce flow-induced noise and the position of pickup body only affects flow near the window. Furthermore, it is possible for cooling of heat sources in the drive through measuring the flow fields under the tray. In addition, the numerical results are well matched up to the experimental results, therefore, the validation of the numerical results can be achieved. From the validation of numerical results, it is possible to predict the flow characteristics of the region where it is unable to conduct the experiment.

  • Long and slender body, like a fuel rod, oscillating in axial flow can be unstabilized even by the small cross flow which can be activated by the flow mixer or turbulent generator. It is important to include these effects of flow disturbance in dynamic stability analysis of nuclear fuel rod. This work shows how eigen frequency of a multi-span fuel rod can be changed by the swirl flow, which is discretely generated by a flow mixer. By solving a state-space form of the eigenvalue equation for a multi-span fuel rod system, the critical velocity at which a fuel rod becomes unstable was calculated. Based on the simulation results, we evaluated how stability of a multi-spanned nuclear fuel rod with mixing vanes can be affected by the coolant flow in an operating reactor core.

  • This paper presents an analytical method to evaluate the dynamic behavior of the scroll compressor. Unbalanced forces and moments act on the compressor body because of the reaction forces acting on rotating components like the orbiting scroll, Oldham coupling ring, and the crank shaft. The vibration of the compressor is induced by the forces and the moments. In this paper, through modeling of the leakage flow, solving the forces from the equations of motion of the moving parts, the analysis of vibration of the compressor was performed. According to the operating condition, the variation of acceleration of the compressor body were calculated and compared.

  • Long and slender body with or without flexible supports under severe operating condition can be unstabilized even by the small cross flow. Turbulent flow mixer, which actually increases thermal-hydraulic performance of the nuclear fuel by boosting turbulence, disturbs the flow field around the fuel rod and affects dynamic behavior of the nuclear fuel rods. Few studies on this problem can be found in the literature because these effects depend on the specific natures of the support and the design of the system. This work shows how the dynamics of a multi-span fuel rod can be affected by the turbulent flow, which is discretely activated by a flow mixer.   • The latest research has shown that the turbulence-induced noise is important in total characteristics of flow noise. Also, turbulence-induced noise have a significant influence for performance of sonar dome. In this paper, Flow analysis is performed on vicinity of the sonar dome model using Large Eddy Simulation method. Also, direct method that extracts perturbational sound pressure, FW-H method without turbulence-induced noise and permeable FW-H method that is able to calculate turbulence- induced noise were compared in order to show turbulence effect.

곡면을 가진 외팔보형 PVDF 에너지 하베스터의 와류유기진동으로 인한 에너지 수확 특성 (Energy harvesting characteristics on curvature based PVDF cantilever energy harvester due to vortex induced vibration)

  • 수중 압전 에너지 하베스터(Piezoelectric Energy Harvester, PEH) 설계시 곡률변화를 통해 외팔보형 전체의 와류유기진동(Vortex Induced Vibration, VIV)을 생성시키고, VIV의 생성으로 곡면형 외팔보 PEH에 진동 변위가 증가한다는 것은 실제 전력을 증대 시키는 데 중요한 요소이다. 해석 모델인 곡면형 PEH의 재질은 Polyvinyline Di-Floride(PVDF) 압전 필름으로서 곡률이 다양한 50 mm, 130 mm, 210 mm 모델에 유속은 0.1 m/s ~ 0.50 m/s로 정하여 VIV에 의한 PEH의 스트레인 에너지 변화를 관찰하였다. 곡률 반경이 작을수록 큰 폭의 VIV가 나타났고, 유속이 증가할수록 VIV가 많이 나타났다. 작은 곡률로 인한 급격한 형상변환이 VIV의 생성에 효과적이었고 스트레인 에너지, 정규화 발생 전압, 평균 전력 등은 곡률이 증가할수록 감소하였다. PEH 자체의 전력량을 증대시키기 위해 급한경사의 곡률 개선뿐만 아니라 곡률형 PEH의 개수가 늘어남에 따라 평균 전력도 상승할 것으로 사료된다.
