This paper presents an experimental study on flexural behavior of structural member enlarged with epoxy mortar system. The main test variable is flexural tensile strength. A series of 4 test beams was tested to shoe the corresponding effect of each variables on maximum load capacity, load-deflection and moment-curvature relationship, interface behavior and failure mode. The results show that the flexural tensile strength of retrofitted materials have no relation load-deflection, but to load-strain, and failure mode.

Various characters of the concrete are greatly improved as the effect of the steel fiber. As the improvement effect of the steel fiber, the increment in flexural strength, shear strength, toughness, and impact strength are remarkable, and tenacious concrete is obtained. This paper presents model which can predict mechanical behavior of the structure according to aspect ratio and volume fraction of steel fiber. Experiments on compressive strength, elastic modulus and tensile strength were performed with self-made cylindrical specimens of variable aspect ratios. This paper presents an analytical study on the behavior of a beam specimen with steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC). The effect of the SFRC on the crack pattern, failure mode and the flexural behavior of the structure were investigated. The analysis model based on the nonlinear layered finite element method was successfully able to find the necessary amount of steel fibers, tensile steels and beam section which can best approximate flexural strength and ductility of a given conventionally reinforced concrete beam.

The purpose of this study is to investigate analytically the flexural behavior of beam reinforced by an alkali-activated slag-based fiber-reinforced composite. The materials and mixture proportion were selected to manufacture an alkali-activated slag-based fiber-reinforced composite with high tensile strain capacity over 7% and compressive strength and tension tests were performed. The composite showed a compressive strength of 32.7MPa, a tensile strength of 8.43MPa, and a tensile strain capacity of 7.52%. In order to analyze the flexural behavior of beams reinforced by ultra-high-ductile composite, nonlinear sectional analysis was peformed for four types of beams. Analysis showed that the flexural strength of beam reinforced partially by ultra-high-ductile composite increased by 8.0%, and the flexural strength of beam reinforced fully by ultra-high-ductile composite increased by 24.7%. It was found that the main reason of low improvement in flexural strength is the low tensile strain at the bottom of beam. The tensile strain at bottom corresponding to the flexural strength was 1.38% which was 18.4% of tensile strain capacity of the composite.
Flexural load-deflection relationships for steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) are dependent on the tensile and compressive constitutive behaviors of the material, which may be refined in the presence of strain gradients under flexural loads. Considering the relatively large amount of flexural test results available for steel fiber reinforced concrete, and the relative ease of conducting such tests in comparison with direct tension tests, it seems to be important to obtain basic information on the tensile constitutive behavior of SFRC from the result of flexural tests. For this purpose "System Identification" technique was used for interpretating the flexural test data and it was successful in obtaining optimum sets of main parameters which explain the tensile constitutive behavior of SFRC under flexure.
The focus of this research effort was characterization of the flexural and tensile properties of a specific ultra-high-strength, fiber-reinforced concrete material. The material exhibited a mean unconfined compressive strength of approximately 140 MPa and was reinforced with short, randomly distributed alkali resistant glass fibers. As a part of the study, coupled experimental, analytical and numerical investigations were performed. Flexural and direct tension tests were first conducted to experimentally characterize material behavior. Following experimentation, a micromechanically-based analytical model was utilized to calculate the material's tensile failure response, which was compared to the experimental results. Lastly, to investigate the relationship between the tensile failure and flexural response, a numerical analysis of the flexural experiments was performed utilizing the experimentally developed tensile failure function. Results of the experimental, analytical and numerical investigations are presented herein.
Continuous fiber ceramic composites (CFCCs) have advantages over monolithic ceramics : Silicon Nitride composites are not well used for application because of their low fracture toughness and fracture strength, but CFCCs exhibit increased toughness for damage tolerance, and relatively high stiffness in spite of low specific weight. Thus it is important to characterize the fracture resistance and properties of new CFCCs materials. Tensile and flexural tests were carried out for mechanical properties and the fracture resistance behavior of a SCS6 fiber reinforced Si$_3$N$_4$ matrix CFCC was evaluated. The results indicated that CFCC composite exhibit a rising R curve behavior in flexural test. The fracture toughness was about 4.8 MPa$.$m$\^$1/2 , which resulted in a higher value of the fracture toughness because of fiber bridging. Mechanical properties as like the elastic modulus, proportional limit and the ultimate strength in a flexural test are greater than those in a tensile test. Also a numerical modeling of failure process was accomplished for a flexural test. This numerical results provided a good simulation of the cumulative fracture process of the fiber and matrix in CFCCs.

This study was intended to estimate the efficiency of inducing fiber arrangement in UHPCC (Ultra High Performance Cementitious Composites). For the purpose, UHPCC members produced by several different placing methods according to flow characteristics were prepared; flexural behaviors were compared and correlation between the flexural behavior and the characteristics of fiber arrangement was investigated. Test results showed that placing method for inducing specific fiber arrangement had a considerable influence on the flexural performance. The standard specimen in which fibers are induced to be directed parallel to the principle tensile direction presented higher flexural tensile strength but lower variation. Therefore it should be considered that the flexural tensile strength actually developed in UHPCC member may be highly different and in lager variation. The qualitative variation of fiber arrangement according to the flow of UHPCC was also predicted considering the flow pattern and the boundary effect; the prediction provided good explanation to the difference in the flexural behavior according to the induced flow.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of composition of underground structural wall and H-pile in soil cement. The results of previous experimental studies are re-analyzed and the nonlinear cross-sectional analyses of composite basement walls are performed to verify their nonlinear flexural behavior. Based on the study, it is explained how the gap deformation between H-Pile and RC wall should be considered in the design of flexure of composite underground walls. The nonlinear cross-sectional analysis shows that the load-displacement curves of composite basement wall specimens exhibiting flexural behavior exist between the results of the analysis of the complete and non-composite cases. When predicting the behavior of the composite basement wall by nonlinear cross-sectional analysis, the flexural behavior of the composite basement wall could be suitably predicted by considering the reduction of the composite ratio due to tensile stress acting on shear connectors.

In order to estimate the mechanical properties of ultra high performance concrete, the most important is to evaluate its tensile behavior. The tensile behavior of concrete is generally characterized by the elastic behaviour before cracking and tensile stress-crack width relationship after cracking. We carried out the direct tensile and flexural tensile test and compared the tensile behaviors obtained by the direct tensile test and by inverse analysis of the flexural tensile test results. We compared the obtained tensile behavior with that of JSCE recommendations for ultra high performance concrete as well. we could see that the tensile stress-crack width relationship obtained from the flexural tensile test results using inverse analysis had good agreement with directly obtained tensile behaviour with direct tensile test and showed similar tensile softening behaviour introduced in JSCE recommendations for ultra high performance concrete.

This paper presents experimental and analytical results on flexural behavior of flexural members made of SIFCON. Twelve SIFCON beams were subjected to bending tests and their flexural behavior was evaluated. Experimental variables included steel fiber type, presence of tensile reinforcement, and height of section. The specimens using Type-B steel fibers, which had better pullout resistance than Type-A steel fibers, showed flexural failure behavior without shear failure. The aspect ratio of steel fiber had a great influence on the behavior of SIFCON beams without tensile steel, however the effect on the behavior of SIFCON beams was negligible. In addition, the flexural strength equation for SIFCON was proposed in the study. The mean and standard deviation of the ratios of the predicted value to the experimental value are 1.02 and 0.04, respectively. Therefore, the proposed flexural strength equation can be useful for the design and performance evaluation of SIFCON beam.
