파라핀족탄화수소의 폭발하한계의 온도의존성 예측 (Prediction of Temperature Dependence of Lower Explosive Limits for Paraffinic Hydrocarbons)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the temperature dependence of the lower explosive limit(LEL) at elevated temperature. The temperature dependence of the lower explosive limit is one of the significant indices of flammability and combustibility. By using the literature data, the new equations for predicting the temperature dependence of the lower explosive limits for paraffinic hydrocarbons are proposed. The values calculated by the proposed equations were a good agreement with the literature data. It is hoped eventually that this proposed equations will support the use of the prediction for the lower explosive limit and the flash points of the flammable mixtures.

  • The flash point is an important property and hazardous index of a flammable liquid. The flash points are used by virtually all the environmental, health, and safety organizations in both government and industry to classify flammable liquids for safety and transportation regulations. The basics of all flash points behavior are concerned with the vapor pressure and explosive limits. The flash points of pure components and the mixture of solvents can be calculated with the use of the laws of Raoult, Dalton and Le Chatelier. In this paper, experimentally determined lower flash points of a p-xylene and epoxy resin system were compared with the calculated values by using Raoults law. Calculated lower flash points were in reasonable agreement with the observed values.

  • Explosion limit and flash point are the major combustion properties used to determine the fire and explosion hazards of the flammable substances. In this study, in order to predict upper explosion limits(UELs), the upper flash point of n-alkanes and aromatic compounds were measured under the VLE(vapor-liquid equilibrium) state by using Setaflash closed cup tester(ASTM D3278). The UELs calculated by Antoine equation and chemical stoichiometric coefficient tusing the experimental upper flash point were compared with the several reported UELs. From the given results, using the proposed experimental and predicted method, it is possible to research the upper explosion limits of the other flammable substances.

가연성 소재 기반의 에너지 하베스터 연구 (A Research for Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters Based on Flammable Material)

  • Energy problem has been issued in worldwide because fossil fuel has being almost exhausted. A lot of renewable energy have been received attention to replace the energy from fossil fuel. Among them, piezoelectric energy harvester is one of excellent candidates. In general, micro scaled small sized energy harvesters were usually based on the lithography process. However, these lithography process require complicated process and high cost. In this paper, a new process has been proposed for micro-scaled piezoelectric energy harvester. $0.2Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.8Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ composition was used as piezoelectric material due to excellent piezoelectric properties and also can be easily prepared by mixed oxide method.

  • 화학공정에서의 안전하고 최적화된 조작과 내재되어 있는 화재 및 폭발 위험성 평가를 위해서 연소 특성치를 알아야 한다. 폭발한계는 가연성물질의 화재 및 폭발위험성을 결정하는데 주요한 특성치 가운데 하나이다 본 연구에서, 알코올류의 폭발한계에 대해 용액론을 근거로 표준끓는점과 인화점을 이용하여 예측하였다. 제시된 예측식에 의한 예측값은 문헌값과 적은 오차범위에서 일치하였다. 제시된 방법론을 사용하여 다른 가연성 물질의 폭발한계 예측이 가능해졌다.

건축현장의 화재 문제점 분석 및 대응방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fire Problems and Preventive Measures in Construction Sites)

  • This study attempted to establish fire risk factors and preventive measures for each of five major types of construction, focusing on construction sites. For this purpose, disaster cases were analyzed and countermeasures were prepared. In addition, fire risk factors and flammable and combustible materials by construction type according to construction process were identified and preventive measures thereof were suggested. The results of this study can be used to establish policy improvement directions that meet various educational needs and expectations by identifying the use status of flammable and combustible materials and figuring out the fire risk factors according to the process by work type in construction sites.

폭발위험장소 선정 시 풍속 변화에 관한 연구 (The Effect of the Change of Wind Velocity on the Classification of Explosion Hazardous Area)

  • It is very important to classify explosion hazardous area in order to prevent an accident explosion. In order to prevent such a explosion, the Industrial Safety and Health Standards Rules stipulates the establishment and management of explosion hazards in accordance with the criteria set by the Korean Industrial Standards. This study has investigated the range of the explosion hazardous area according to various hole sizes, pressures, vapor densities, and wind velocities in the outdoor flammable liquid tank using KS C IEC-60079-10-1 $2^{nd}$ Ed.(=IEC CODE) and PHAST. The results show that the explosion hazardous areas by IEC CODE have circle shapes. However, the areas by PHAST show ellipse shapes. The different of the explosion hazardous areas increases with the increase of wind velocity.

  • Exterior wall molding, which is widely applied as a design element of the exterior wall of domestic apartment, should be applied as a nonflammable or semi-nonflammable material grade according to the rules on standards for evacuation/fire protection structures of buildings. For this reason, stone and AL sheet are mainly used, but stone is expensive and design autonomy is low. Inorganic reinforced CLC nonflammable molding was applied to the exterior wall of the building through tests of nonflammable performance, noise reduction, and installation stability.
