The present paper includes recent research works on the estimation of physical properties like equivalence ratio and heat release rate of flame through chemiluminescence measurement. Modern combustion devices require a precise control to increase combustion stability as well as to suppress pollutant emissions. The determination of combustion characteristics from chemiluminescence provides practical advantages over other techniques. However, the technique is dependent on equivalence ratio, combustion pressure, inlet temperature, turbulent intensity and fuel type. The intensity ratio of $OH^*$ and $CH^*$ has a strong relation with an equivalence ratio for methane/air premixed flames. The global measurement of chemiluminescence is accepted as a good indicator for a global heat release rate.
Oil tank fires need to be suppressed differently from other oil-related fires, due to the high-temperature flames and hot updraft above the tank, in the former case, that cause the destruction of large amounts of foam. We studied high-capacity foam discharge systems based on the standards of the American Petroleum Institute (API), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), British Standard European Norm (BS EN), and the laws of Japan. The performance of a high-capacity foam discharge system was measured by conducting real fire experiments with model oil tanks. We concluded that lightweight and easily movable high-capacity foam discharge systems should be urgently introduced in domestic operations. Additionally, the obstacles faced by major tanks, such as long-distance installation of large-diameter fire hoses and narrowing of firefighting spaces, should be resolved depending on the conditions of the site.

Performance of the existing sensor-based fire detection system is limited according to factors in the environment surrounding the sensor. A number of image-based fire detection systems were introduced in order to solve these problem. But such a system can generate a false alarm for objects similar in appearance to fire due to algorithm that directly defines the characteristics of a flame. Also fir detection systems using movement between video flames cannot operate correctly as intended in an environment in which the network is unstable. In this paper, we propose an image-based fire detection method using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network). In this method, firstly we extract fire candidate region using color information from video frame input and then detect fire using trained CNN. Also, we show that the performance is significantly improved compared to the detection rate and missing rate found in previous studies.
Purpose: To identify internal self ignition and ignition caused by external flames in energy storage rooms, and to analyze the difference between ignition due to overheating and ignition caused by external heat sources. Method: membrane melting point measurement, battery external hydrothermal experiment, battery overcharge experiment, comparative analysis of electrode plate during combustion by overcharge and external heat, overcharge combustion characteristics, external hydrothermal fire combustion characteristics, 3.4 (electrode plate comparison) / 3.5 (overcharge) /3.6 (external sequence) analysis experiment. Result: Since the temperature difference was very different depending on the position of the sensor until the fire occurred, it is judged that two temperature sensors per module are not enough to prevent the fire through temperature control in advance. Conclusion: The short circuit acts as an ignition source and ignites the mixed gas, causing a gas explosion. The electrode breaks finely due to the explosion pressure, and the powder-like lithium oxide is sparked like a firecracker by the flame reaction.

Measurements of heat release are very important for controling combustion instabilities, which are closely connected with combustion instabilities. $OH^{\ast}$ images were acquired through a ICCD in this study, which were in use as indicating index of the reacting region, global and local heat release rate in the lean premixed combustion. The objectives of this study are to see the effect of equivalence ratio on global heat release rate and local Rayleigh index distribution. The local Rayleigh index distribution was acquired by information from central section of flame. This information was from the line-of-sight images which were inverted by the Abel de-convolution. In each condition, the mean value of heat release increased exponentially with equivalence for a periodic time. Local Rayleigh index distribution cleary showed the region of amplifying or damping the combustion instability as the equivalence ratio increased. This could provide an insight on the region of combustion instability and the structure of flames on the equivalence ratio.
Mi Fu, who was associated with Wen Tong, invented the Mijoem Technique (Dotting Technique) in landscape painting with his son Mi Youren. His landscapes, which referred to Dong Yuan's landscape technique and was inspired by the scenery of Jiang Nan, illustrate the mood of a cloud-covered foggy landscape by liberally applying dots with ink. 'Chunsansoesong' which is considered done by Mi Fu, clearly shows the virtues of ink painting's spreading, absorbing and omission techniques. This simply rendered landscape - whose mountains and hills are wrapped in both clouds and fog - displays exquisiteness by using small dots. In 'Chunsansoesong', the characteristics of Song painting: a 'vital energy', a 'poem within the painting', a 'beauty of margin', a 'beauty of one brush stroke, and a 'display of inner meanings' are implicatively expressed This is because it's simple but connotatively delineative. There is the characteristic of a 'poem within the painting' when analyzing the both fragmented and combined 'Chunsansoesong'. The margins support an imaginative space as the height of the mountains get higher which result in deepening both the width and depth of the landscape space. Furthermore, the soft thickness of ink, clouds, pine trees, and pavilion evoke delineative feelings and a desire to write a poem Every thing in 'Chunsansoesong' is enveloped in both clouds and fog regardless of its distance and this delivers boundless feelings of Oriental mystery and urges a desire for 'writing a poem'. The pavilion that faces the cloud and fog-bound mountains especially flames the poetic urge further by inducing viewers' poetic imaginations. As we reviewed above, 'Chunsansoesong's cloud and fog-covered landscape is a good example that clearly showcases the characteristics of a 'Poem within the Painting'.

The characteristics of syngas-oxyfuel combustion has been investigated experimentally in the present study. Experimental measurements were conducted to aid a fundamental design of a syngas-oxyfuel combustor with a double coaxial burner configuration. To examine the effects of different syngas fuels on combustion characteristics, various fuel types are utilized such as commercial coal gases (Texaco, Shell), COG (cokes oven gas), and $CH_4$ as a main component of natural gas. $CO_2$ was added to the four fuel types as a diluent gas to reduce the flame temperature. The flame images and emission characteristics of NOx and CO were examined for various equivalence ratio and $CO_2$ dilution ratio. The results show that CO emission was rapidly increased as equivalence ratio approached the stoichiometry condition by reducing the amount of oxygen. As the $CO_2$ dilution increased, CO emission increased while NOx emission decreased due to reduced flame temperature. When the syngas-oxyfuel combustor is operated with 20~40% of $CO_2$ dilution ratio, the CO and NOx emission levels were kept below 50 ppm and 25 ppm, respectively, with a high concentration of $CO_2$ over 95 vol.% in exhaust gases.

Flame oscillation phenomena in a co-flow diffusion flame was experimentally studied with periodic fuel supply using a solenoid valve. The degree of excitation was controlled by changing the volume flux of fuel passing through the valve. Flame oscillation frequencies were measured utilizing a photodiode, a spectrum analyzer, video and high speed movies. Laser planar visualization was employed to study the correlation between the flame oscillation and the toroidal vortices. Observed are three regimes of flame oscillation, where the oscillation frequencies are for the multiples of excitation, the excitation itself and the flame natural oscillation. Both periods of natural oscillation and of excitation induced oscillation exist over one cycle of the excitation in the frequency multiplied regime. It is considered as an effect of balancing the influence of buoyancy driven vortex with that of excitation induced vortex near the excitation rate of 0.2. Flame shapes are become monotonous as increasing the excitation frequency to the range of over two fold of the natural oscillation. The flame oscillation can be modulated to the frequency of either multiples of excitation or excitation itself under certain conditions. This implies that the flame oscillation could be modulated to avoid the resonance frequency of the combustor, and shows the possibility of active control of the flame oscillation.
In this study, the effect of central fuel injection on a coaxial laminar $CH_{4}/air$ flame was experimented at the defined premixing condition(${\Phi}=1.90$, ${\sigma}=50/75/100%$, x/D=10). The partial premixing parameter are the equivalence ratio that total fuel is fixed at 200cc/min, the fuel split degree which means the percentage of fuel entering the outer tube to the total amount, and the mixing distance indicating the nonreactant mixture's homogeneity between inner tube top and burner exit. The object is to investigate the flame structure and chemiluminescence characteristics of laminar partial premixed flame as changing mixing parameters. The radical signal was acquired from ICCD camera and PMT. Each intensity was compared with Abel inverted value for measuring the effect of background light on the peak signal location and the intensity at central preheat zone. The results show that the peak location of each radical was broaden as the fuel split degree increasing because the mixing quality was enhanced. and $OH^{\ast}$ is a good indicator for flame front between reaction and preheat zone. At last $CH_{2}^{\ast}$ has the same tendency with $CH^{\ast}$ but a thinner reaction zone than $CH^{\ast}$ due to a rapid decay on the burned gas side.
The Numerical simulation was performed on the flow field around the two-dimensional rectangular bluff body in order to simulate an engine nacelle fire and to complement the previous experimental results of the bluff body stabilized flames. Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) based on the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) was employed to clarify the characteristics of reacting flow around bluff body. The overall reaction was considered and the constant for reaction was determined from flame extinction limits of experimental results. The air used atmosphere and the fuel used methane. For both fuel ejection configurations against an oxidizer stream, the flame stability and flame mode were affected mainly by vortex structure near bluff body. In the coflow configuration, air velocity at the flame extinction limit are increased with fuel velocity, which is comparable to the experiment results. Comparing with the isothermal flow field, the reacting flow produces a weak and small recirculation zone, which is result in the reductions of density and momentum due to temperature increase by reaction in the wake zone.
