This paper deals with two problems of optimal portfolio strategies in continuous time. The first one studies the optimal behavior of a firm who is forced to withdraw funds continuously at a fixed rate per unit time. The second one considers a firm that is faced with an uncontrollable stochastic cash flow, or random risk process. We assume the firm's income can be obtained only from the investment in two assets: a risky asset (e.g., stock) and a riskless asset (e.g., bond). Therefore, the firm's wealth follows a stochastic process. When the wealth is lower than certain legal level, the firm goes bankrupt. Thus how to invest is the fundamental problem of the firm in order to avoid bankruptcy. Under the case of different lending and borrowing rates, we obtain the optimal portfolio strategies for some reasonable objective functions that are the piecewise linear functions of the firm's current wealth and present some interesting proofs for the conclusions. The optimal policies are easy to be operated for any relevant investor.
Integration of mobile networks and Internet has started with 2.5 generation of mobile cellular networks. Internet traffic is today dominant traffic type worldwide. The hanger for higher data rates needed for data traffic and new IP based services is essential in the development of future wireless networks. In such situation, even 3G with up to 2 Mbit/s has not provided data rates that are used by Internet users with fixed broadband dial-up or through wired local area networks. The solution to provide higher bit rates in wireless access network has been found in wireless LAN although initially it has been developed to extend wired LAN into wireless domain. In this paper, we propose and describe a solution created for interoperability between mobile cellular network and WLAN. The integration between two networks, cellular and WLAN, is performed on the authentication, authorization, and accounting, i.e., AAA side. For that purpose we developed WLAN access controller and WLAN AAA gateway, which provide gateway-type access control as well as charging and billing functionalities for the WLAN service. In the development process of these elements, we have considered current development stadium of all needed network entities and protocols. The provided solution provides cost-effective and easy-to-deploy PLMN-WLAN Internetworking scenario.

The optimal design of batch-storage network by using periodic square wave model provides analytical lot sizing equations for a complex supply chain network characterized as multi-supplier, multi-product, multi-stage, non-serial, multi-customer, cyclic system including recycling and/or remanufacturing. The network structure includes multiple currency flows as well as material flows. The processes are represented by multiple feedstock/product materials with fixed composition which are very suitable for production processes. In this study, transportation processes that carry multiple materials with unknown composition are added and the time frame is changed from single period into multiple periods in order to represent nonperiodic parameter variations. The objective function of the optimization involves minimizing the opportunity costs of annualized capital investments and currency/material inventories minus the benefit to stockholders in the numeraire currency. The expressions for the Kuhn-Tucker conditions of the optimization problem are reduced to a multiperiod subproblem for average flow rates and analytical lot-sizing equations. The multiperiod lot sizing equations are different from single period ones. The effects of corporate income taxes, interest rates and exchange rates are incorporated.

Proximate composition, dimension, water uptake and volume increase rates of three cultivars of Korean kidney beans, Pink(PKB), Red(RKB) and White(WKB) were compared. Significant differences in the proximate composition and calorie were not observed among samples. Hull removed samples showed the lowest ash content and the highest calorie. The rates of water uptake increased as the soaking temperature increased from 10~4$0^{\circ}C$. The moisture gain of the kidney beans during soaking showed a similar pattern to volume increase. Water uptake and volume increase rates were in the decreasing order of PKB, RKB and WKB. Moisture and volume gains held a linear relation with the square root of soaking time regardless soaking temperatures. The activation energies of water uptake and volume increase were 3033~3087 and 3077~ 3161 kcal/mole, respectively. The log time to reach a fixed moisture content showed a linear relation with soaking temperature regardless soaking temperatures. The z-values calculated from weight and volume changes decreased in proportions to the increase of hydration. The z-values of weight and volume to reach 50% hydration were 50.5~56.6$^{\circ}C$ and 48.4~61.2$^{\circ}C$, respectively.

In this study, drying and carbonization experiment was conducted in a fluidized bed reactor according to the variations in gas velocity, particle size, and reactor temperature. As a result, the weight loss rates of sludge by drying in the fixed bed and fluidized bed type dryer showed that drying in the fluidized bed was about 6 times faster than drying in the fixed bed, and the weight loss rates of sludge by carbonization in the fixed bed and fluidized bed type reactor showed that carbonization in the fluidized bed was about 4 times faster than drying in the fixed bed. This implies that carbonization in the fluidized bed was completed within 10 minutes. Although the amount of char decreased with the increase of carboniration temperature, the amount of char became similar at upper 873K. Also, the amount of char decreased with increasing gas velocity. Consequently, it could be efficient that slow fluidization should be maintained within the range of fluidization in case of fluidized carbonization of sewage sludge at 873K.
Background: Radiation dose rates in PRIDE facility is evaluated quantitatively for assessing radiation safety of workers because of large amounts of depleted uranium being handled in PRIDE facility. Even if direct radiation from depleted uranium is very low and will not expose a worker to significant amounts of external radiation. Materials and Methods: ORIGEN-ARP code was used for calculating the neutron and gamma source term being generated from depleted uranium (DU), and the MCNP5 code was used for calculating the neutron and gamma fluxes and dose rates. Results and Discussion: The neutron and gamma fluxes and dose rates due to DU on spherical surface of 30 cm radius were calculated with the variation of DU mass and density. In this calculation, an imaginary case in which DU density is zero was added to check the self-shielding effect of DU. In this case, the DU sphere was modeled as a point. In case of DU mixed with molten salt of 50-250 g, the neutron and gamma fluxes were calculated respectively. It was found that the molten salt contents in DU had little effect on the neutron and the gamma fluxes. The neutron and the gamma fluxes, under the respective conditions of 1 and 5 kg mass of DU, and 5 and $19.1g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$ density of DU, were calculated with the molten salt (LiCl+KCl) of 50 g fixed, and compared with the source term. As the results, similar tendency was found in neutron and gamma fluxes with the variation of DU mass and density when compared with source spectra, except their magnitudes. Conclusion: In the case of the DU mass over 5 kg, the dose rate was shown to be higher than the environmental dose rate. From these results, it is concluded that if a worker would do an experiment with DU having over 5 kg of mass, the worker should be careful in order not to be exposed to the radiation.
In this paper, we combine a generalized analysis-by-synthesis (AbS) structure and an algebraic excitation scheme to propose a new 4kb/s speech codec. This codec partly uses the structure of G.729. We design a line spectrum pair (LSP) quantizer, an adaptive codebook, and an excitation codebook to fit the 4 kb/s bit rate. The codec has a 25㎳ algorithmic delay, which corresponds to a 20㎳ frame size and a 5㎳ lookahead. At the bit rates below 4kb/s, most CELP speech codecs using the AbS principle have a drawback that results a rapid degradation of speech quality. To overcome this drawback we use the generalized AbS structure which is efficient for the low bit rate speech codec. LP coefficients are converted to LSP and quantized using a predictive 2-stage VQ. A low complexity algebraic codebook which uses shifting method is used for the fixed codebook excitation, and gains of the adaptive codebook and the fixed codebook are quantized using the VQ. To evaluate the performance of the proposed codec A-B preference tests are done with the fixed rate 8kb/s QCELP. As the result of the test, the performance of the codec is similar to that of the fixed rate 8kb/s QCELP.
The objective of this study was to examine and compare to transient response to quantitative and hydraulic shocks which produce equal changes in mass rate of organic feed in aerobic fixed-film process. The general experimental approach was to operate the system at several growth rates under steady-state(pre-shock) conditions, then to apply step changes during day 3 in dilution rate(hydraulic shock) , or feed concentration(Quantitative shock) at the same organic mass loading rate. Performance was assessed in both the transient state and the new steady-state (post- shock). Shock load of different type did not produced equivalent disruptions of effluent quality for equal increases in mass loading rate. Based on effluent concentrations, a hydraulic and a Quantitative shock at the same mass loading caused equal increase in total effluent COD, but the increase was primarily a result of suspended solids the hydraulic shock and COD in the quantitative shock. The time which effluent COD came to peak values were about 32~48 hours at the low organic loads and 52 ~ 72 hours at the high organic loads, respectively A quantitative shock produced a much greater increase in effluent COD than did a hydraulic shock at the same mass loading. Mean and peak values of effluent concentration weve increased in 2.8~4.2 times at low organic loading rate, 5.2~6.6 times at the high organic loading rate, respectively. Key words : Aerobic fixed-film reactor, Quantitative shock, hydraulic shock, mass loading rate.

This paper evaluates patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) in the treatment of small and multiple tumors by the CyberKnife system with fixed collimators, using an ion chamber and EBT3 films. We selected 49 patients with single or multiple brain tumors, and the treatment plans include one to four targets with total volumes ranging from 0.12 cc to 3.74 cc. All PSQA deliveries were performed with a stereotactic dose verification phantom. The A16 microchamber (Standard Imaging, WI, USA) and Gafchromic EBT3 film (Ashland ISP Advanced Materials, NJ, USA) were inserted into the phantom to measure the point dose of the target and the dose distribution, respectively. The film was scanned 1 hr after irradiation by a film digitizer scanner and analyzed using RIT software (Radiological Imaging Technology, CO, USA). The acceptance criteria was <5% for the point dose measurement and >90% gamma passing rate using 3%/3 mm and relative dose difference, respectively. The point dose errors between the calculated and measured dose by the ion chamber were in the range of -17.5% to 8.03%. The mean point dose differences for 5 mm, 7.5 mm, and 10 mm fixed cone size was -11.1%, -4.1%, and -1.5%, respectively. The mean gamma passing rates for all cases was 96.1%. Although the maximum dose distribution of multiple targets was not shown in the film, gamma distribution showed that dose verification for multiple tumors can be performed. The use of the microchamber and EBT3 film made it possible to verify the dosimetric and mechanical accuracy of small and multiple targets. In particular, the correction factors should be applied to small fixed collimators less than 10 mm.
In order to determine the optimal conditions for the process of acetic acid fermentation, the kinetics of Acetobacter aceti fermentation in submerged batch cultures were studied at different agitation speeds and air flow rates. The maximum cell concentration was noted after about 48 hr fermentation and the time course of Acetobactey aceti fermentation showed a distinct feature of growth-associated product formation. At agitation speeds 700, 500, and 300 rpm fixed on air flow rate 1 v/v/M, specific grow rates were $3.97\times10^{-2},\;3.82\times10^{-2},\;and\;2.04\times10^{-2\} \;hr^{-1}$, saturation constants were 61.4, 64.6, and 69.4mg/ml. and volumetric oxygen transfer coefficients were 0.9337, 0.4468, and 0.1701 $min^{-1},$ respectively. At air flow rates 1.25, 1.00, and 0.75 v/v/M fixed on agitation speed 500 rpm, specific growth rates were $3.90\times10^{-2},\;3.82\times10^{-2},\;and\;2.37\times10^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$, saturation constants were 63.4, 64.6, and 64.9 mg/ml, and volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient were 0.4923, 0.4468, and 0.3509 $min^{-1},$ respectively.
