Dynamic behaviors of line type bearings, spherical bearings and disk bearings which are being used for railway steel bridges are investigated, and that of the bridges is also analyzed. For the purpose, the vertical displacements of the three bearings including fixed and expansion type are measured and analyzed. Also, the deformation of the PTFE plate placed inside of spherical and disk bearings of expansion type is measured and its effect on the dynamic behavior of the bridges is discussed. The up-lift phenomenon at the bearings installed for the steel bridges is estimated. The vertical displacements at mid-span of the bridges are compared according to the bearing types. Finally, the 1st mode natural frequencies are estimated and the relationship to the vertical displacement is discussed.
Domestic photovoltaic system for roof-top is installed towards the south at an angle of 20 to 35 degrees and the shape of PV array is divided into two kinds; a plane shape and a curved shape. This paper aims to understand an actual condition of PV facility and strengths and weaknesses of support structure production and installation and to consider the best PV surface shape by analyzing theoretical logics of these two surface shapes and architectural perspective-based realistic case studies. This study targeted 98 facilities including common houses, public institutions and education institutions. In common houses, all of 59 PV facilities have a plane surface. In public institutions, 7 of 15 PV facilities have a curved array surface and 8 PV facilities have a plane surface. In education institutions, also, 14 of 24 PV facilities have a plane array surface and 10 PV facilities have a curved surface. Most of 98 facilities have a flat roof supporting shape. However, it was found that the curved shape wasn't positive for PV generation due to the change of radial density and it was at least 10 % more expensive to produce its structure. Also, domestic general large single-plate PV facilities have problems of harmony with buildings and wind load. Therefore, it is considered that for fixed-type roof-top PV, a plane PV array shape is good for optimum generation and economic efficiency and a parallel array structure on the roof surface is favorable to wind load and snow load without being a hindrance to the building facade.

Sulfonated poly(styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene) (SSEBS)-clay hybrid membranes were prepared by solution method. In the preparation of hybrid membrane, the amount of clay content was fixed to 5 phr and montmorillonite (MMT) was fully exfoliated by the SEBS and it was confirmed by X-ray diffraction method. D-spacing of the characteristic peak from MMT plate in WAXD was fully diminished. Gas permeability, mechanical properties and thermal properties of the SSEBS-clay hybrid membranes were investigated. Gas permeability through the SSEBS-clay hybrid membranes decreased due to increased tortuosity made by exfoliation of clay in SEBS.
In this paper, it is developed simulator system of 3 D.O.F parallel robot for educate of expertness. This simulator system is composed of three parts ? 3 D.O.F parallel robot, controller (hardware) and software. First, basic structure of the robot is 3 active rotary actuator that small geared step motor with fixed base. An input-link is connected to this actuator, and this input-link can connect two ball joints. Thus, two couplers can be connected to the input-link as a pair. An end-plate, which is jointed by a ball joint, can be connected to the opposite side of the coupler. A sub-link is produced and installed to the internal spring, and then this sub-link is connected to the upper and bottom side of the coupler in order to prevent a certain bending or deformation of the two couplers. The robot has the maximum diameter of 230 mm, 10 kg of weight (include the table), and maximum height of 300 mm. Hardware for control of the robot is composed of computer, micro controller, pulse generator, and motor driver. The PC used in the controller sends commands to the controller, and transform signals input by the user to the coordinate value of the robot by substituting it into equations of kinematics and inverse kinematics. A controller transfer the coordinate value calculated in the PC to a pulse generator by transforming it into signals. A pulse generator analyzes commands, which include the information received from the micro controller. A motor driver transfer the pulse received from the pulse generator to a step motor, and protects against the over-load of the motor Finally, software is a learning purposed control program, which presents the principle of a robot operation and actual implementation. The benefit of this program is that easy for a novice to use. Developed robot simulator system can be practically applied to understand the principle of parallel mechanism, motors, sensor, and various other parts.

Titanium foil and mesh(anodized tubular $TiO_2$ electrode, ATTE) were anodized in a bath at $5^{\circ}C$ with 20V external bias applied, then annealed at different temperatures($450^{\circ}C{\sim}850^{\circ}C$) to obtain tubular $TiO_2$ on the Ti substrate. The prepared sample was used to investigate rate of hydrogen production as well as Cr(VI) reduction. The ATTEs annealed at relatively lower temperatures showed higher activity than those at relatively higher temperatures. In particular, the Cr(VI) reduction was pH-dependent. To improve photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction with the ATTEs, two configurations, fixing foil type and rotating mesh type, were also compared. As a result, the rotating mesh type was much more effective for Cr(VI) reaction than the former due to the more efficient use of the light. In the rotating type reactor, as the rotating speed increased, the rate of the Cr(VI) reduction was getting faster.
Purpose: Fractures of the mandibular condylar area are common injuries that account for 29% to 40% of fractures of the facial bones and represent 20% to 62% of all mandibular fractures. Currently 3 main methods are being used in the treatment of mandibular subcondylar fractures: closed reduction; open reduction and internal fixation; Endoscopic reduction and internal fixation. Each method has its proponents and opponent as well as advantages and disadvantages, and indications for each vary among surgeons. There are six approaches of open reduction: submandibular, retromandibular, preaurilcular, postauricular, intraoral, transparotid approach. Among them, transparotid approach has been described for subcondylar exposure with dissection in the direction of facial nerve fibers to expose the bone through the parotid gland. This approach carries the risk of a parotid glandular fistula as well as facial nerve injury but has the advantage of being directly over the fracture site. We report safety and efficacy of surgical treatment using a transparotid approach for direct plating. Methods: A 43-year-old man sustained multiple facial bone fractures by driver traffic accident. Mandibular subcondyle was fractured and dislocated internally. We performed open reduction and internal fixation by transparotid approach. Fractured site was fixed by titanium mini plate & screw. We applicated arch bar for approximately 3 weeks. Results: Follow-up length was about 5months. Scar of surgical incision was indistinct, there was no symptoms and signs of facial nerve and parotid gland injury, and maximal mouth opening was measured 49.5 mm. Conclusion: Transparotid approach has high risks of facial nerve and parotid gland injury, but paradoxically it is the most effective technique in saving facial nerve. Open reduction and internal fixation of mandibular subcondylar fracture by transparotid approach with precise and versed procedure, best outcome can be expected.
The purpose of this case report was to introduce the concept of orthodontic and orthopedic treatment for a growing patient with Tessier number 0 cleft. A 5-year-old boy patient with Tessier number 0 cleft presented congenitally missing maxillary central incisors (MXCI), a bony defect at the premaxilla, a constricted maxillary arch, an anterior openbite, and maxillary hypoplasia. His treatment was divided into three stages: management of the bony defect at the premaxilla and the congenitally missing MXCIs using a fan-type expansion plate, iliac bone grafting, and eruption guidance of the maxillary lateral incisors into the graft area for substitution of MXCIs; management of the maxillary hypoplasia using sequential facemask therapy with conventional and skeletal anchorage; and management of the remaining occlusal problems using fixed orthodontic treatment. The total treatment duration was 15 years and 10 months. Class I canine and Class II molar relationships and normal overbite and overjet were achieved at the end of treatment. Although the long-term use of facemask therapy resulted in significant protraction of the retrusive maxilla, the patient exhibited Class III profile because of continued mandibular growth. However, the treatment result was well maintained after 2 years of retention. The findings from this case suggest that interdisciplinary and customized approaches are mandatory for successful management of maxillary hypoplasia, bony defect, and dental problems in Tessier number 0 cleft. Moreover, considering the potential of orthognathic surgery or distraction osteogenesis, meticulous monitoring of mandibular growth until growth completion is important.
The treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusion in adolescents is challenging. Maxillary protraction, particularly that using bone anchorage, has been proven to be an effective method for the stimulation of maxillary growth. However, the conventional procedure, which involves the surgical implantation of mini-plates, is traumatic and associated with a high risk. Three-dimensional (3D) digital technology offers the possibility of individualized treatment. Customized mini-plates can be designed according to the shape of the maxillary surface and the positions of the roots on cone-beam computed tomography scans; this reduces both the surgical risk and patient trauma. Here we report a case involving a 12-year-old adolescent girl with skeletal Class III malocclusion and midface deficiency that was treated in two phases. In phase 1, rapid maxillary expansion and protraction were performed using 3D-printed mini-plates for anchorage. The mini-plates exhibited better adaptation to the bone contour, and titanium screw implantation was safer because of the customized design. The orthopedic force applied to each mini-plate was approximately 400-500 g, and the plates remained stable during the maxillary protraction process, which exhibited efficacious orthopedic effects and significantly improved the facial profile and esthetics. In phase 2, fixed appliances were used for alignment and leveling of the maxillary and mandibular dentitions. The complete two-phase treatment lasted for 24 months. After 48 months of retention, the treatment outcomes remained stable.

The present study investigates heat/mass transfer around film cooling jets and circular cylinders to compare the characteristics of each other. Experiments are conducted to obtain the detailed heat/mass transfer coefficients of flat plate with injections through an array of holes and for flows around an array of protruding circular cylinders using the naphthalene sublimation technique. The inclination angles of cylinders are set to the same ones of jets; a, the angle between the jet and the surface is fixed at 30 deg. through the whole experiments and .betha., the angle between the projection of the jet on the surface and the direction of main stream is adjusted to 0 deg., 45 deg. and 90 deg. to investigate the effect of variation of injection angles. The influence of blowing rates of jets and those of cylinder length to diameter ratios are also investigated. The results indicate that the increase of angle .betha. influences the spanwise uniformity of heat/mass transfer remarkably for both jets and cylinders, but that variation of cylinder length to diameter ratios has weaker effects on heat/mass transfer coefficients than that of blowing rates.
Osseointegrated prosthetic auricular reconstruction can be classified as either direct or indirect. In the $Br{\aa}nemark $ system of direct osseointegration, implants are placed into the mastoid process of the temporal bone. In the Epitec system of indirect osseointegration, implants are inserted into a three-dimensional carrier plate that is fixed to the mastoid by means of screws. We experienced forty-four cases using the indirect system and seventeen cases using the direct system. We compared with two systems by complications, such as skin reaction, implant loosening, implant loss. There were no specific differences in the skin reaction around the implants and abutments in relation to age or system used. The degree of skin reaction was different according to the conditions around the implant: in cases of virgin microtia, a skin flap was used to cover the implant, in contrast to grafted skin coverage for failed autogenous reconstruction. In both systems, the skin reaction was more severe and frequent in skin flap than in grafted skin. Loosening of the implant was more frequent in the direct system; however, accidental detachment of the implant from the abutment was more frequent in the indirect system. To reduce complications of skin reaction in osseointegrated prosthetic auricular reconstruction, it is important for soft tissue around implant to immobilize. Therefore, grafted skin is better than skin flap as soft tissue around implant. And immobilization of soft tissue around implant by wound dressing is major facter.
