  • This study analyzed the early retired employees who stayed in company no longer than 3 years based on a certain company's personality evaluation result data. The predicted model was analyzed by dividing into two categories; the manufacture group and the R&D group. Independent variables were selected according to the stepwise method. A logistic regression model was selected as a prediction model among various supervised learning methods, and trained through cross-validation to prevent over-fitting or under-fitting. The accuracy of the two groups were confirmed by the confusion matrix. The most influential factor for early retirement in the manufacture group was revealed as "immersion," and for the R&D group appeared as "antisocial." In the past, people concentrated on collecting data by questionnaire and identifying factors that are highly related to the retirement, but this study suggests a sustainable early retirement prediction model in the future by analyzing the tangible outcome of the recruitment process.

  • In most of hearing aids, amplification algorithms are used to compensate hearing loss, noise and feedback reduction algorithms are used and to increase the perception of speeches contrast enhancement algorithms are used. However, acoustic masking effect is occurred between formants if contrast is enhanced excessively. To confirm the masking effect in speeches, the experiment are composed of 6 tests; test pure tone test, speech reception test, word recognition test, pure tone masking test, formant pure tone masking test and speech masking test, and for objective evaluation, LLR is introduced. As a result of normal hearing subjects and hearing impaired subjects, more making is occurred in hearing impaired subjects than normal hearing subjects when using pure tone, and in the speech masking test, speech reception is also lower in hearing impaired subjects than in normal hearing subjects. This means that acoustic masking effect rather than distortion influences speech perception. So it is required to check the characteristics of masking effect before wearing a hearing aid and to apply this characteristics to fitting curve.

  • The solutions are expressed in terms of a double integral transformation over wavenumber and frequency. The complete solution is considered in such a full wave theory approach. This method can handle a larger number of plane layers. Therefore, the result of FK method is very similar to real data. Using the models that were modified in velocity and Q value with depth by iterative process from a model (Kang and Park, 2006) and considered as one of the best models in Korean Peninsula, the synthetic data are simulated for explosions and earthquakes of North Korea. This study notes that the wave shape of the synthetic data is very dependent on Q value, velocities, and thickness of sedimentary layers. Comparing between the real and the synthetic, fitting well in arrival time of first arrival and wave shape causes us to arrive at an indication that the model is very close representation of upper crustal structure and simulations are well done in amplitude fitting and in identification of phases of local and regional waves.

  • Three spherical quaternary composites composed of metal/metal oxide/high explosive/oxidizer were prepared by a crystallization/agglomeration process. From the characteristics of composites by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), the shortening of the decomposition zone of high explosives in the quaternary composite was observed, which may be attributed to the autocatalytic reaction caused by $ClO_2$ or HCl which are ammonium perchlorate (AP) degradation products. The activation energy analysis showed that the activation energy abruptly decreases at the end of the decomposition zone of high explosives, and it was considered to be caused by $HNO_2$ which is common in decomposition products of high explosives. The activation energy predicted from complex pyrolysis results by the distributed activation energy model (DAEM) showed much better in accuracy than those by model-fitting methods such as Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa models.

  • Using a nonconforming mesh in enrichment methods results in several numerical issues induced by discontinuities and singularities found within the solution spaces, including the computational overhead during integration. In this study, we present a novel enrichment technique based on the selective expansion technique of moment fitting (Düster and Allix, 2020). In particular, two modifications are proposed to address the inefficiency during the integration process. First, a feedforward artificial neural network is introduced to correlate the implicit functions and integration moments. Through numerical examples, it is shown that the efficiency of the method is greatly improved when compared with existing expansion techniques, whereas the solution accuracy is maintained. Additionally, the finite element and domain representation grids are separated, which in turn improves the solution accuracy even for coarse mesh conditions.

  • In modern society, various digital devices are being distributed in a wide range of fields due to the fourth industrial revolution and the development of IoT technology. However, noise is generated in the process of acquiring or transmitting an image, and not only damages the information, but also affects the system, causing errors and incorrect operation. AWGN is a representative noise among image noise. As a method for removing noise, prior research has been conducted, and among them, AF, A-TMF, and MF are the representative methods. Existing filters have a disadvantage that smoothing occurs in areas with high frequency components because it is difficult to consider the characteristics of images. Therefore, the proposed algorithm calculates the standard deviation distribution to effectively eliminate noise even in the high frequency domain, and then calculates the final output by applying the probability density function weight of the Laplace distribution using the curve fitting method.

  • When measuring the radiated noise of an underwater vehicle, the range information between the vehicle and the receiver is an important factor, but since Global Positioning System (GPS) is not available in underwater, an alternative method is needed. As an alternative, the range is measured by estimating the arrival time, arrival time difference, and arrival frequency difference using a separate acoustic signal. However, errors occur due to the channel environment, and these outliers become obstacles in continuously measuring range. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce errors by curve fitting with a function in the form of a V-curve as a post-processing to remove outliers that occurred in the process of measuring range information. Simulation, lake and sea trials were conducted to verify the performance of the proposed method. In the results of the lake trial, the range estimation error was reduced by about 85 % from the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) point of view.

  • T7 bacteriophage gp4 is the replicative DNA helicase that unwinds double-stranded DNA by utilizing dTTP hydrolysis energy. The quaternary structure of the active form of T7 helicase is a hexameric ring with a central channel. Single-stranded DNA passes through the central channel of the hexameric ring as the helicase translocates $5'\rightarrow3'$ along the single-stranded DNA. The DNA unwinding was measured by rapid kinetic methods and showed a lag before the single-stranded DNA started to accumulate exponentially. This behavior was analyzed by a kinetic stepping model for the unwinding process. The observed lag phase increased as predicted by the model with increasing double-stranded DNA length. Trap DNA added in the reaction had no effect on the amplitudes of double-stranded DNA unwound, indicating that the $\tau7$ helicase is a highly processive helicase. Global fitting of the kinetic data to the stepping model provided a kinetic step size of 10-11 bp/step with a rate of $3.7 s^{-1}$ per step. Both the mechanism of DNA unwinding and dTTP hydrolysis and the coupling between the two are unaffected by temperature from $4∼37^{\circ}C$. Thus, the kinetic stepping for dsDNA unwinding is an inherent property of tile replicative DNA helicase.

  • Fingerprint pores have proven to be useful features for fingerprint recognition and several pore-based fingerprint recognition systems have been reported recently. In order to recognize fingerprints using pore information, it is very important to extract pores reliably and accurately. Existing pore extraction methods utilize 2D model fitting to detect pore centers. This paper proposes a pore extraction method using 1D Gaussian model which is much simpler than 2D model. During model fitting process, 1D model requires less computational cost than 2D model. The proposed method first calculates local ridge orientation; then, ridge mask is generated. Since pore center is brighter than its neighboring pixels, pore candidates are extracted using a $3{\times}3$ filter and a $5{\times}5$ filter successively. Pore centers are extracted by fitting 1D Gaussian model on the pore candidates. Extensive experiments show that the proposed pore extraction method can extract pores more effectively and accurately than other existing methods, and pore matching results show the proposed pore extraction method could be used in fingerprint recognition.
