A Study on Modified PSO for the Optimization of Stochastic Simulations (PSO법을 응용한 확률적 시뮬레이션의 최적화 기법 연구)

  • This paper describes the method to solve the optimization problems for stochastic simulation which is represented by military simulations. For this reason, the test fitness function reflecting the characteristics of military simulations, complex and stochastic results, is defined and PSO is used to solve the test fitness function. To control the known weak point of PSO for stochastic simulations, this paper proposes a technique which reevaluates the value of global optimum. By using the technique, the result shows notable improvements. From the simulation results, interactions among the calculation conditions which affect the accuracy and speed of optimization are analyzed. And the strategy for the optimization of stochastic simulations is proposed.

Analysis of Surplus and Dficit-using Runs for Monthly Streamflow (월유출량에 대한 Run-Length의 해석)

  • In the analysis, monthly streamflow records atthe gauging station in Nakdong, Han and Geum river were used. Also, the fitness of monthly streamflow to Gamma and Long-normal distribution was tested by Kolomogorv-Smirnov test. The results obtained in this study can be summarized as follws (1) The fitness of monthly streamflow to two-parameter Gamma distribution was tested by Kolomorov-Smirnov test, which fits well to this Gamma distribution (2) The Run-length and Run-sum were simulated by the Gamma model. In this result, run-length and Run-sum of monthly streamflow were fit for Gamma model (3) The mean decreases (increases) the expected surplus (deficit) Run-Sum of the monthly streamflow. The higher the truncation level of negative Run-length and Run-sum the larger is the effect of mean.

Clothing-Ergonomics Study on the Development of Slacks Pattern and Wearing Evaluation for the Middle-high School Girls Based on the their Lower Body Type (여중생의 하반신 유형별 슬랙스 원형설계 및 착의평가에 관한 피복인간공학적 연구)

  • Fitness of clothes becomes a major concern in apparel industry. Development of basic patterns will enhance the fitness of clothes. But there are few slacks patterns for the middle-high school girls. So girls had difficulties to buy ready-made clothes of good fit. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop basic slacks patterns. The purposes of this study was to develop basic slacks patterns based on the analysis of lower body types. 4 girls were selected among 402 anthropometric measurement subjects who are 13 to 15 year-old for the wearing tests. The result of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Analysing the replicas of lower body surface by using gypsum method, slack patterns were developed. 2. Wearing test by the sensory evaluation showed that the developed slacks pattern was estimated more highly than existing patterns in the items of the comfort of front crotch and back crotch. 3. Wearing test by moire topography method represented that garment silhouette of developed slacks pattern was estimated more highly and garment space of waist, hip were significantly different among patterns.

Effects of a Exercise Program on Body Composition, Physical Fitness and Lipid Metabolism for Middle-Aged Obese Women (운동프로그램이 중년비만여성의 체구성, 체력 및 지질대사에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of an exercise program for middle-aged obese women. Method: The exercise program combined folk dance and resistance training. The subjects group consisted of 85 middle-aged obese women between 40 and 60 years of age. Three 8 week sessions consisted of a $55-80\%$ maximum heart rate (MHR) exercise for 60-90 minutes a day and 3 times a week from March to November, 2004. Data was collected through a pre- and post-exercise test before and after each session. Data was collected with Inbody, dynamometer and blood. This data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, and a paired t-test with an SPSS/PC(10.0 version) program. Results: There were significant positive changes in body weight, body fat mass, body mass index, percent body fat, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and balance quality, but no significant positive changes in skeletal mass, fat free mass, percent abdominal fat(waist-hip ratio), visceral fat area, agility, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, or triglycerides. Conclusion: This study showed that an exercise program has partially positive effects for middle-aged obese women. The results of this study show that exercise at community health centers should continue for middle-aged obese women's health.

Correlation between BMI and Physical Fitness of College Women in Seoul

  • This study investigated the correlation of the physical measurements and the basic physical fitness of 158 female students in the city of Seoul. The average age of the subjects was 22.0 ${\pm}$ 0.13 years old, the average height was 160.9 ${\pm}$ 0.7cm and the average weight was 53.4 ${\pm}$ 0.6kg. The mean BMI (Body Mass Index) was 20.7 ${\pm}$ 0.2kg/㎡. The average muscle mass was 36.5 ${\pm}$ 0.3 and the average body fat percentage was 28.0 ${\pm}$ 0.4%. The basic fitness levels of the subjects were measured based on the evaluation chart of the Korea Health and Science Research Institution (1994). The subjects were divided into 3 groups based on BMI(Group I : BMI < 20, Group II : 20 $\leq$ BMI < 25, Group III BMI $\geq$ 25) and the correlation between BMI and physical fitness was assessed. 1) The muscle strength of the subjects was measured by their grip strength, among other tests. Groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “su” (level 1) and group 3 was “woo” (level 2). 2) Endurance 1 was tested by push-ups, and while groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “su” (level 1), group 3 was “ga” (level 5). This result did not suggest any significant relevance among the subjects. 3) Endurance 2 was tested by sit-ups : groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “mi” (level 3) and group 3 as “yang” (level 4). Group 2 and group 3 showed a significant difference. 4) Instant power was tested by standing high jumps, and although there was a significant difference between group 1 and group 3, all of the subjects were evaluated as “ga” (level 5). 5) Flexibility was measured by how far the subjects could bend forward. There was no significant relevance between the groups and they were all respectively evaluated as “woo” (level 2). 6) Agility was tested with side-steps and all the subjects showed poor agility as “yang” (level 4). 7) Heart and lung endurance was tested by the step test, calculating the maximum oxygen intake with the Physical Energy Index (PEI) and using the numbers according to the evaluation chart. Group 1 was evaluated as “mi” (level 3) and groups 2 and 3 were “woo” (level 2). From these results, we could see the group III (obese group) had a tendency of lower levels in all the variables related to body fitness They showed significantly lower endurance assessed with time for sit-ups and instant power by the standing high jumps. PAPS Contents Development for Elementary School Students (초등학생용 PAPS 콘텐츠 개발)

  • Korean Students' Physical Fitness Test System, was improved from exercise-related fitness to health-related fitness, it manage the results on the web. This research is one of the practical trial using IT environment for health and fitness improvement, by developing web-based contents. In peer debriefing, 105 contents(health : 6 part 34 contents, exercise : 13 part 71 contents) was designed and realized through analyzing 7th curriculum and 11 domesticinternational contents. The output, have good points, could be used in the class on the web, could be carried out by students in anytime, anywhere. Especially, obese or low fitness children can carry out joyfully. And the contents could be improved on the web. This study is the 1st trial to develop web-based contents, enhancing students' to recognize the importance of health and exercise. If this trial was connected to middle, high school and military, could be contributed in Korean Men's health management. In the future, application study must be carried-out.

Convergence Study on Effects of Underwater Rehabilitation Exercise on Physical Fitness and Blood Lipids in Middle Aged Women (중년여성의 수중재활운동이 신체적성과 혈중지질에 미치는 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how underwater rehabilitation exercises affect physical fitness and blood lipids for 10 weeks and provide basic data to help prevent middle-aged women from cardiovascular diseases. The subjects of this study were middle-aged women living in Seoul, Korea. The underwater rehabilitation exercise was performed for 1 week and 3 times for 10 weeks, and the exercise time was 60 minutes for 1 time including the warm up, the main exercise and the cool down. The exercise intensity was set at 60-70% of the heart rate reserve calculated from the pre-exercise test. The measurement variables were physical fitness and blood lipid. In the data processing, descriptive statistics were presented for each measurement item and a 2-way RGRM ANOVA was conducted to examine the interaction effects between groups. The results have shown significant interaction effects in physical fitness(Flexibility, Cardiorespiratory Endurance, Muscular Endurance) and the blood lipids(TG, TC, HLD-C, LDL-C). This study found that the 10-week underwater rehabilitation exercise program of middle-aged women increased physical fitness level and decreased and increased blood lipid, which could be an effective and convergent program to prevent and reduce cardiovascular disease.

  • In this experiments of design, vibration evaluation, and test of vehicles, aircraft, and other mechanisms the development of vibration simulator that serves environment similar to real fields takes lots of advantages. Especially, in the real field test of vehicles it possesses the advantages of showing the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle. In this study, to investigate the validity and fitness of proposed 6DOF parallel link mechanism we simulated that mechanism.

Analysis of Body Composition and Functional Physical Performance in Urban-Dwelling Elderly Women with or without Obesity (도시 거주 여성 노인의 비만 유무에 따른 신체구성, 상⋅하지 근력 및 신체활동 능력 분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in body composition, upper and lower limb muscle strength, and functional physical ability in urban-dwelling elderly women with or without obesity. Methods: All study participants were assigned to the normal weight group (n=8, BMI<25) and the obesity group (n=7, BMI>25) based on their obesity rate. Anthropometric measurement was conducted and body composition was measured. For the upper and lower limb strength, grip strength and maximal isometric knee extension and flexion were evaluated by a dynamometer. The senior fitness test was performed to measure functional ability. Data analysis was conducted by the independent t-test and the alpha level was set at 0.05. Results: The waist, hips, and thighs of obese elderly women were thicker than those of normal-weight elderly women. This physical difference resulted from body fat mass, not muscle mass. Despite a similar level of limb muscle mass between the two groups, the upper limb grip strength was higher (24.00% for left, 19.95% for right) in the normal-weight women than the obese women (p<0.05), but otherwise there was no difference in maximal knee flexion or extension isometric strength. Functional physical ability showed no difference in a 30-second chair sit and stand test and a six-minute walk test, but a 30-second arm-curl (11.00% for left, 14.81% for right), back stretch (8.54cm for left, 8.99cm for right), chair sit and reach (9.22cm for left, 6.24cm for right), and 2.44 meter round trip walk (0.62 sec, 9.39%) were faster in performance for normal-weight elderly women than obese elderly women (p<0.05). Conclusion: Taken together, despite similar levels of upper and lower extremity muscle mass, normal-weight elderly women showed higher performance in upper limb strength, flexibility, and agility than obese elderly women, but there was no difference in lower extremity functional muscle strength and cardiopulmonary endurance.
