Numerical study for smoke behavior in case of train fires in railway tunnel with axial fan vents (강제환기 통풍구가 설치된 철도터널 열차화재에서 연기거동에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • Numerical study were performed to analyze for fire safety in railway tunnel with forced ventilation vents. For the condition of train fires with heat release rate of 30 MW, unsteady three dimensional analysis were carried out to investigate the effects of smoke movements, the heat transfer and $CO_2$ concentrations and in double track tunnel with two vents. Among three operation modes of forced ventilations at two vents, the exhaust-exhaust mode of the vent represents the best performance for the evacuation of passengers to avoid the fire.

  • To predict the fire and smoke hazards of rail car with a evacuation model is essential for achieving life safety of all passengers in the event of fire. Currently, more than 30 different evacuation models are available and expected increasing demand in high population density areas as a metro train station. This paper includes brief history of evacuation models and review some key factors of design egress scenario, these are pre-movement time, egress route, location of fire, overturned carriage, and configuration of rail car. Applying the egress model for rail passenger car, users need to confirm the model's ability of physiological, psychological responses effecting to pre-movement time of individual or crowd unit, representation of complexity of carriage layout, and evaluation of effects of smoke.

  • 풀화재에서 화염화염진동은 주위공기와의 밀도차에 의한 부력효과에 기인하여 주로 발생한다. 본 연구는 풀화재의 화염불안정성에 대해 산화제 유속 및 농도 변화에 따른 효과를 검토하기 위하여 컵버너 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과는 산화제의 농도를 변화시켰을 경우에는 산화제의 불활성기체의 농도가 증가할수록 청염의 길이가 길어지고 컵버너 끝단으로부터 부상되는 것이 관찰된다. 한편, 산화제의 유속이 증가함에 따른 진동주파수가 감소함을 보인다. 이는 무차원 변수로 표현되는 주파수와 부력의 관계로 도시하였을 때 다양한 속도스케일을 사용할 수 있었지만, 연료와 산화제의 유속차로 정의되는 특성속도인 경우에 정지되어 있는 공기중에서의 풀화재 진동과 일치하는 관계식을 얻을 수 있었다. 그리고 진동주파수는 산화제 희석율과는 특정한 관계를 보이지 않는데 이는 국부적 화염구조와 연관성을 가지기 때문으로 판단된다.

  • Casualties Damage from Smoke is very serious consequence. Especially, Damage from smoke in in the Subway Station is the terrible result. Smoke from the fire in the Subway Station that evacuation route on the path and the sight of refugees caused by serious traffic problems. Accordingly, A study on Smoke barriers of smoke systems take into considerations relate to effects depending on wind velocity speed of the piston effect come into the retarding effect of smoke control in smoke barriers. As a result of modeling, According to increasing of Velocity in the platform which installed smoke barriers were been on the increase spreading quantity of smoke in the right direction of upstairs however, In contrast spreading quantity of smoke in the left direction on the upstairs were been on the decrease.

Refined plastic hinge analysis of steel frames under fire

  • This paper presents an effective, reliable and accurate method for prediction of structural behaviour of steel frames at elevated temperature. The refined plastic hinge method, which has been used successfully in the second-order elasto-plastic analysis of steel frames at ambient conditions, is adopted here to allow for time-independent fire effects. In contrast to the existing rigorous finite element programs, the present method uses the advanced analysis technique that provides a simple and reliable means for practical study of the behaviour of steel frames at elevated temperature by a limiting stress model. The present method is validated against other test and numerical results.

  • Effects of ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM)/polypropylene (PP), zinc oxide, stearic acid, and clay on the combustive properties based on EPDM/PP were investigated. The EPDM/PP/clay nanocomposites was compounded to prepare specimen for combustive analysis by cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1). It was found that the combustive properties in the nanocomposites decreased due to the fire resistance compared with unfilld EDPM/PP. The nanocomposites showed the lower peak heat release rate (PHRR) than that of virgin EPDM/PP, while stearic acid for softening ruber increased the mean heat release rate (MHRR) by itself, combustible.

  • It is difficult for a superintendent or an operator of building service systems and equipment to decide the reasonable time for management of himself due to the shortage of his specialty for repair or replacement of a part of or whole equipment. But The reliable life expectancies for various building service equipment have not been prepared yet. This study shows the difference of optimal economic life and the decrease of running cost and energy consumption according to management level of the building equipment by the LCC analysis. The numerical model for building HVAC system was composed and analyses were performed for several parameters with management.

  • The building HVAC systems have very different qualities of performance and durability with the superintendent's ability for management and maintenance. The poor management of these systems finally lead to the shortening of the life expectancy and result in the increase of operating costs and energy consumptions due to low efficiencies. So it is essential to try to develop ways to adequately maintain and to use the building facilities efficiently in order to preserve earth environment and the limited resource. In this study, the LCC based numerical calculation package will be developed for the efficient maintenance plan and the determination of the reasonable time of repair or replacement of equipments.

Behavior of steel-concrete composite beam using angle shear connectors at fire condition

  • Fire is one of the environmental parameters affecting the structure causing element internal forces to change, as well as reducing the strength of the materials. One of the common types of floors in tall steel structures is the steel concrete composite slab. Shear connectors are used in steel and concrete composite beam in various shapes also has played significant role in a burning fire event of building with a steel concrete composite beam. The current study has reviewed the effects of temperature raising on the angle connector behavior through the use of push out tests and monotonic static force. The results have shown (1) the ductility of the samples is acceptable based on EC4 standard; (2) temperature raising has reduced the stiffness; (3) the shear ductility increment; and (4) the shear capacity reduction. Also, the amount of angle shear connector resistance has been decreased from 18.5% to 41% at ambient temperature up to $850^{\circ}C$.

  • 본 논문에서는 유체 시뮬레이션(Fluid simulation)중 화염에서 표현되는 불똥 입자(Fire-flake particle)의 생성, 움직임과 삭제를 효율적으로 학습하고 표현할 수 있는 인공지능 기법에 대해 소개한다. 유체 시뮬레이션을 계산하기 위해서는 일반적으로 수치해석학과 같은 학문의 이해가 필요하며 불똥이나 거품과 같은 유체의 2차 효과(Secondary effect)는 기반유체(Underlying fluids)를 통해 추출되기 때문에 복잡하고 계산양이 많아진다. 이러한 문제를 완화하고자 본 논문에서는 인공신경망을 이용한 분류 모델 학습을 통해 격자 내에서 표현되어야 하는 불똥 입자의 생성을 학습하고, 다항 회귀 모델 학습을 통해 불똥 입자의 움직임을 예측한다. 또한, 불똥 입자가 삭제되어야하는 상태를 네트워크 학습을 통해 얻어내며, 수명(Lifespan) 임계값 조절하여 다양한 장면에서 불똥을 제어할 수 있다. 결과적으로 화염의 움직임을 기반으로 불똥의 움직임을 복잡한 수학식이나 디자이너에게 의존하지 않고 인공지능 학습을 통해 쉽게 제어하고 예측하는 결과를 보여준다.
