Polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete plates under fluid impact. Part II: modeling and simulation

  • Fluid impact tests on plates containing mesh reinforcement and polypropylene fibers were modeled and simulated using explicit finite element analysis software, LS-DYNA. The scabbing dimensions obtained by the experiments and the simulations were compared and crack formations were matched. The objective was to test the accuracy and fidelity of the model and to confirm that damage caused by fluid impact on the plates can be estimated with a reasonable accuracy over a wide range of impact velocity.

  • In many areas of finite element analysis, elements with special properties are required to achieve maximal accuracy. As examples, we may mention infinite elements for the representation of spatial domain that extend to special and singular elements for modeling point and line singularities engendered by geomeric features such as reentrant corners and cracks. In this paper, we study on modified shape function representing singular properties and algorigthm for the pollution adaptive mesh generation. We will also show that the modified shape function reduces pollution error and local error.

  • 쉘은 곡률을 가지는 얇은 구조물로 정의된다. 자동차를 비롯하여 항공기, 우주 발사체, 인공위성, 선박 등의 운송수단과 건축물의 돔(done)과 같이 공간을 효율적으로 활용하고 동시에 경량화를 확보할 필요가 있는 경우에 쉘은 널리 사용되는 구조물이다. 쉘 이론은 1960년대까지는 전문가의 영역에 속해 있는 학문이었고 구조역학을 전공한 사람들에게도 다루기 어 려운 구조물로 인식되어 왔다. 실제 다양한 쉘의 거동은 역학과 수학의 폭넓은 지식을 요구하고 학문으로서도 그 속에서 평생을 보낼 만큼 매력적이고 어려운 부분들을 포함하고 있다고 생각된다.(중략)

  • This paper consider a simple Nondestructive Testing(NDT) having eddy currnt effect. We analyzed the two dimension modeling of alternative magnetic field. eddy current with voltage source. And, the current magnitude and phase data obtained from each different frequency five object position is used for learning the neural network. Therefore, we can recognize an object position pattern from new input current magnitude, phase data.

  • 용접부의 파괴특성을 J-적분을 이용하여 유한요소법으로 해석하였다. 용접부 의 열전달 해석 및 응력해석을 수행한후 crack을 도입하여 crack 주위의 자류응력 해석을 통하여 crack tip에서의 J- 적분치를 계산하였다. 이차원 및 삼차원에서의 파괴해석을 위한 modeling 과정을 소개하였으며 대표적인 계산결과를 소개하였다.

  • A thermal model of carbon spun yam is presented. The unit cell of spun carbon yam is divided into a number of volume elements and the local material properties have been given to each element. By using Finite Difference Method (FDM), temperature distribution in the unit cell can be obtained. Effective thermal conductivity of the spun carbon yam unit cell is calculated using the temperature distribution and thermal conductivities of local elements.

  • A finite-element model for beams with partially delaminated layers is used to investigate their behavior. In this formulation account is taken of lateral strains and the first-order shear deformation theory is used. Both displacement continuity and force equilibrium conditions are imposed between the regions with and without delamination. Numerical results of the present model are presented and its performance is evaluated for static and dynamic problems.

  • This paper presents a 3-dimensional diffusion simulation with adaptive solution strategy. The developed diffusion simulator VLSIDIF-3 was designed to re-refine areas. Refine scheme was calculated by the difference of doping concentration between any of two nodes. Each element is greater than tolerance and redo diffusion process until error is tolerable. Numerical experiment in low doping diffusion problem showed that this adaptive solution strategy is very efficient in both memory and time, and expected this scheme would be more powerful in complex diffusion model.

  • Although concrete pavements were successfully widespread throughout the nation due to the desirable surface characteristics, durability, and economy, it still causes several transverse cracking and joint failure problems in some areas. In this paper, the major emphasis was given to provide a rational analytical approach on joint failure mechanisms, considering several sets of joint stiffnesses on different subgrade moduli. Besides , load transfer mechanisms on concrete pavement joints were highlighted with finite element method and computer modeling.

  • For the design and analysis of 3D object featuring complexity and irregularity in shape, sectional digital images measured by an industrial CT scanner are employed to generate a finite element model with uniform voxels. The voxel model plays a key role in developing an integrated reverse engineering system including geometric modeling, simulation and optimization. Design examples applied to topology optimization show that the proposed approach can provide a remarkable reduction in time cost at the conceptual and detail design stages.
