제철소의 연소배가스 $CO_2$ 분해용 (Ni, Zn)-ferrite 미세분말 합성공정 연구 (Synthesis Processing of the Fine (Ni, Zn)-ferrite Powder for $CO_2$ Decomposition of the Flue Gas in the Iron Foundry)

  • Flue gases in the iron foundry consist of 15~20% CO2 as an air pollution gas whose emission should be mitigated in order to protect the environment. In the present study, ultrafine powders of NixZn1-xFe2O4 as a potential catalyst for the CO2 decomposition were prepared by the coprecipitation methods. Oxygen deficient ferrites (MeFe2O4-$\delta$) can decompose CO2 as C and O2 at a low temperature of about 30$0^{\circ}C$. The XRD result of synthesized ferrites showed the spinel structure of ferrites and ICP-AES and EDS quantitative analyses showed the composition similar with initial molar ratios of the mixed solution prior to reaction. The BET surface area of the (Ni, Zn)-ferrites was about 77~89.5$m^2$/g and their particle size was observed about 10~20 nm. The CO2 decomposition efficiency of the oxygen deficient (Nix, Zn1-x)-ferrites was the highest at x=0.3, and the ternary (Ni, Zn)-ferrites was better than that of binary Ni-ferrites.

Local structure of transparent flexible amorphous M-In-ZnO semiconductor

  • The impurity doped ZnO has been extensively studied because of its optoelectric properties. GIZO (Ga-In-Zn-O) amorphous oxide semiconductors has been widely used as transparent flexible semiconductor material. Recently, various amorphous transparent semiconductors such as IZO (In-Zn-O), GIZO, and HIZO (Hf-In-Zn-O) were developed. In this work, we examined the local structures of IZO, GIZO, and HIZO. The local coordination structure was investigated by the extended X-ray absorption fine structure. The IZO, GIZO and HIZO thin films ware deposited on the glass substrate with thickness of 400nm by the radio frequency sputtering method. The targets were prepared by the mixture of $In_2O_3$, ZnO and $HfO_2$ powders. The percent ratio of In:Zn in IZO, Ga:In:Zn in GIZO and Hf:In:Zn in HIZO was 45:55, 33:33:33 and 10:35:55, respectively. In this work, we found that IZO, GIZO and HIZO are all amorphous and have a similar local structure. Also, we obtained the bond distances of $d_{Ga-O}=1.85\;{\AA}$, $d_{Zn-O}=1.98\;{\AA}$, $d_{Hf-O}=2.08\;{\AA}$, $d_{In-O}=2.13\;{\AA}$.

히핑처리된 분말 고속도공구강의 미세조직에 관한 연구 (Microstructures of Hot Isostatic Pressed High Speed Steels)

  • High speed steels with commercial compositions of 10V, Rex20, Rex25, T15, and ASP30 were gas-atomized and then consolidated by hot isostatic pressing (HIPping). The microstructures of gas-atomized powder, as-HiPped billet, and heat-treated billet have been characterized using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. In the gas-atomized powders, the solidification structures of 10V and Rex25 alloys show that primary MC carbides embedded within the fine equiaxed dendrites, whereas those of Rex20, T15 and ASP30 alloys exhibited eutectic MC and/or M$_2$C carbides in the interdendritic region. The trace and dendritic morphologies of gas-atomized powder have been retained in as-HiPped billets. The microstructures of as-HiPped billets have been observed to consist of ferrite, $M_6C$ and MC carbides in other alloys with the exception of 10V alloy, which consists of ferrite and MC carbides. The hardness of heat-treated billet makes a favorable comparison with that of as-HIPped billet. This seems mainly to be due to the strengthening by the precipitation of secondary carbides and the change of matrix phase from $\alpha$-ferrite to martensite.

$Al_2O_3$의 상전이 및 그에 따른 미세구조 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Phase Transformation and Microstructure Control of $Al_2O_3$)

  • A fine $\alpha$-Al2O3 powder was prepared by sol-gel process for membrane application. And it was carried out by adding 1.5wt% $\alpha$-Al2O3 powders(mean size : 87 nm) as seeds to the prepared sols and by controlling the heating schedule (the heating rate and the soaking time) to prevent the microstructural change, which occured during $\theta$-to $\alpha$Al2O3 phase transformation. The seeded $\alpha$-Al2O3 particles acted as the heterogeneous nucleation sites for the $\alpha$-Al2O3 nucleation during the transformation of $\theta$- to $\alpha$-Al2O3 and resulted in increasing the driving force of phase transformation to activate the formation of $\alpha$-Al2O3 phase at 82$0^{\circ}C$. By $\alpha$-Al2O3 seeding and controlling of heating condition the phase transformation of $\theta$- to $\alpha$-Al2O3 was accomplished at low temperature and the grain growth process was depressed. Therefore, the unsupported membrane could be fabricated in $\alpha$-Al2O3 . The average diameter of pores in the fabricated membrane was 7 nm and the porosity was 47%.

Study of the Enhancement of Magnetic Properties of NdFeB Materials Fabricated by Modified HDDR Process

  • The HDDR (Hydrogenation-Disproportionation-Desorption-Recombination) process is a special method to produce anisotropic NdFeB powders for bonded magnet. The effect of the modified HDDR process on magnetic properties of $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$-based magnet with several composition $Nd_{11.2}Fe_{66.5-x}Co_{15.4}B_{6,8}Zr{0.1}Ga_x(x=0{\sim}1.0)$ and that of microelement Ga, disproportional temperature and annealing temperature on $_jH_c$, grain size were investigated in order to produce anisotropic powder with high magnetic properties. It was found that modified HDDR process is very effective to enhance magnetic properties and to fine grain size. The addition of Ga could change disproportionation character remarkably of the alloy and could improve magnetic properties of magnet powder. Increasing annealing temperature induces significant grain growth. And grain size produced by modified HDDR process is significantly smaller than those produced by conventional HDDR process.

방전 플라즈마 소결법으로 제작한 Mo-Cu 합금의 열적, 전기적 특성 (A Study on the Thermal and Electrical Properties of Fabricated Mo-Cu Alloy by Spark Plasma Sintering Method)

  • Mo-Cu alloys have been widely used for heat sink materials, vacuum technology, automobile and many other applications due to their excellent physical and electronic properties. Especially, Mo-Cu composites with 5~20 wt% copper are widely used for the heavy duty service contacts due to their excellent properties like low coefficient of thermal expansion, wear resistance, high temperature strength and prominent electrical and thermal conductivity. In most of the applications, high dense Mo-Cu materials with homogeneous microstructure are required for high performance, which has led in turn to attempts to prepare ultra-fine and well-dispersed Mo-Cu powders in different ways, such as spray drying and reduction process, electroless plating technique, mechanical alloying process and gelatification-reduction process. However, most of these methods were accomplished at high temperature (typically degree), resulting in undesirable growth of large Cu phases; furthermore, these methods usually require complicated experimental facilities and procedure. In this study, Mo-Cu alloying were prepared by planetary ball milling (PBM) and spark plasma sintering (SPS) and the effect of Cu with contents of 5~20 wt% on the microstructure and properties of Mo-Cu alloy has been investigated.

  • The effect of $\alpha$/$\beta$ phase on the mechanical properties and contact damage of silicon nitrides $Si_3N_4$) was investigated. Silicon nitride materials were prepared from two starting powders, at selective increasing hot-pressing temperatures to coarsen the microstructures: (i) from relatively coarse $\alpha$-phase powder, essentially equiaxed $\alpha$-$Si_3N_4$ grains, with limited, slow transformation to $\beta$-$Si_3N_4$ grain; (ii) from relatively fine $\alpha$-phase powder, a more rapid transformation to $\beta$-$Si_3N_4$, with attendant grain elongation. The resulting micro-structure thereby provided a spectrum of $\alpha$/$\beta$ phase ratios, grain sizes, and grain shapes. Fracture strength, hardness, and toughness were measured, and contact damage and strength degradation after indentation were investigated by Hertzian indentation using spherical indenter. A brittle to ductile transition in $Si_3N_4$ depended on $\alpha$/$\beta$ phase ratio as well as grain size. Silicon nitride with elongated $\beta$ grains showed a superior, contact damage resistance.

Optimization of Barium Titanate Slip for Tape Casting Using Design of Experiments

  • A full-factorial design of experiments with three input factors and two levels for each factor including center points was utilized for the preparation and characterization of twelve types of $BaTiO_3$ slips for tape casting. Ceramic powders with different particle sizes, different milling methods such as high energy milling and conventional ball milling, and two types of dispersant with different polymeric species were chosen as input factors in order to investigate their effects on slip and on green tape properties. Tape casting, a small rectangular-shaped K-square preparation, characterization and quantitative data analysis using statistical software were followed. Ceramic powder was the most significant among three input factors for the output responses of slip viscosity and green tape density, showing more favorable results with large particles than with very fine ones. In addition, high energy milling for only 30 min was more efficient than 24h of conventional ball milling in terms of powder dispersion and milling. The optimum condition based on the experimental results was a slip exposed to high energy milling with large ceramic particles along with a methylethyl acetate dispersant.

  • 본 연구에서는 공침법에 의한 초미세분말을 이용하여 제조된 (NiCuZn)-ferrite와 건식법을 이용하여 제조된 (NiCuZn)-ferrite의 저온소결 특성 및 전자기적 특성을 상호 비교 분석하였다. 조성은 (N $i_{0.4-x}$C $u_{x}$Z $n_{0.6}$)$_{1+w}$(F $e_2$ $O_4$/)$_{1-w}$에서 x의 값을 0.2, w의 값은 0.03으로 고정하였고, 소결은 공침법으로 합성된 분말의 경우 초기열처리과정을 거쳐 최종적으로 90$0^{\circ}C$에서, 건식법의 경우 11$50^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 진행하였다. 그 결과, 공침법으로 제조된 (NiCuZn)-ferrite는 건식법으로 제조된 (NiCuZn)-ferrite보다 20$0^{\circ}C$이상 낮은 소결온도에서 높은 소결밀도 값을 가졌으며, 품질계수 등 칩 인덕터에서 중요한 요소인 전자기적 특성이 우수하게 나타났다. 또한, 공침법으로 합성된 페라이트는 분말의 초기열처리온도에 따라 최종소결 특성이 크게 변하였다. 그밖에 공침법과 건식법으로 합성한 (NiCuZn)-ferrite의 결정성, 미세구조들을 XRD, SEM, TEM을 이용하여 비교 고찰하였다.하였다.다.

Development of Methane Gas Sensor by Various Powder Preparation Methods

  • After $SnO_2$ fine powder by precipitation method, Ca as crystallization inhibitor and Pd as catalyst were added to $SnO_2$ raw material by various methods. Thick film device was fabricated on the alumina substrate by mixing ethylene glycol and such mixed powders. The sensing characteristics of the device for methane gas were investigated. The most excellent gas sensing property was shown by the thick film device fabricated by Method 3 in which Ca and Pd doped $SnO_2$ powder is prepared by mixing $SnO_2$ powder, 0.1 wt% Ca acetate and 1 wt% $PdCl_2$ in deionized water and by calcining the mixture, after $Sn(OH)_4$ is dried at $110^{\circ}C$ for 36h. The sensitivity of the sensor fabricated with $SnO_2$-0.1 wt%Ca acetate-1wt%$PdCl_2$ powder heat-treated at $700^{\circ}C$ for 1h was about 86% for 5,000 ppm methane in air at $350^{\circ}C$ of the operating temperature. Response time and recovery were also excellent.
