  • The Electrical properties of thin $SiO_2$ film by rapid thermal processing have been investigated and this film has been compared with thermal $SiO_2$ film by furnace. The RTO(rapid thermal oxide) film annealed in Ar ambient represent more superior properties than thermal $SiO_2$ film by furnace at breakdown field and leakage current. The RTO(rapid thermal oxide) film annealed in $NH_3$ ambient represent more inferior properties than thermal $SiO_2$ film by furnace at electrical properties, but the capacitance was improved 15-25% than the conventional oxide film.

  • Antimony-doped Tin oxide (ATO) thin films were deposited on soda-lime glass substrates by DC magnetron sputtering technique. Effects of DC power film thickness and post heat-treatment on electrical conductivity of ATO film were investigated. Other properties of ATO film such as optical anti-chemical and wear properties were also reported in this work. The obtained ATO films showed electrical resistivities ranging from 5$\times$10-3 $\Omega$cm to 3$\times$10-3 $\Omega$cm with the average optical transparency above 80% in visible wavelength range and excel-lent anti-chemical properties where the electrical resistivity was not changed even after soaking the films in 1M HCl or 1M NaOH solution for 10 days. These properties were found to be related to the crystallinity of ATO film and the films having higher crystallinity showed better properties.

천연옥수수전분과 hydroxypropyl화 옥수수전분의 RVA특성과 필름 물성의 관계 (Relationship between RVA Properties and Film Physical Properties of Native Corn Starch and Hydroxypropylated Corn Starch)

  • 본 연구는 천연전분과 hydroxypropyl화 전분에 가소제를 0, 16, 33, 50, 66% 비율로 첨가하여 RVA점도를 측정하고 필름을 제조한 후 물성을 측정하여 두 물성 사이의 상관관계를 알아보고자 행하였다. 필름의 인장강도는 가소제의 함량이 높아질수록 감소하였고 신장율과 수증기투과도는 증가하였으며 glycerol이 sorbitol보다 큰 변화를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. Hydroxypropyl화 전분이 천연전분에 비해 강도는 떨어지나 신장율은 높아지는 것으로 나타났고 수증기투과도는 2배 큰 것으로 나타났다. 가소제를 혼합하여 필름의 물성을 측정한 결과 sorbitol은 유연성보다는 필름의 강도를 유지하는 역할을 그리고 glycerol은 필름의 신장율을 증가시키는 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. RVA물성과 필름 물성의 관계에서 가장 연관성이 높은 것은 peak viscosity, 인장강도, 수증기투과도인 것으로 판명되었고 peak viscosity와 인장강도, peak viscosity와 수증기투과도의 관계는 각각 직선적인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 RVA 물성 중 peak viscosity를 활용하여 필름의 인장강도, 수증기투과도를 예측할 수 있다고 판단되었다.

Influence of Surface Texturing on the Electrical and Optical Properties of Aluminum Doped Zinc Oxide Thin Films

  • An aluminum doped zinc oxide (AZO) film for front contacts of thin film solar cells, in this work, were deposited by r.f. magnetron sputtering, and then etched in diluted hydrochloric acid solution for different times. Effects of surface texturing on the electro-optical properties of AZO films were investigated. Also, to clarify the light trapping of textured AZO film, amorphous silicon thin film solar cells were fabricated on the textured AZO/glass substrate and the performance of solar cells were studied. After texturing, the spectral haze at the visible range of 400 ~750 nm increased substantially with the etching time, without a change in the resistivity. The conversion efficiency of amorphous Si solar cells with textured AZO film as a front electrode was improved by the increase of short-circuit current density ($J_{sc}$), compared to cell with flat AZO films.

Si가 Ti-Si-N 코팅막의 기계적 성밀 및 내산화특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Si on Mechanical and Anti-oxidation Properties of Ti-Si-N Coating)

  • Comparative studies on microstructure, and mechanical and anti-oxidation properties between TiN and Ti-Si-N films were performed. The Ti-Si-N films were deposited on high-speed steel and silicon wafer substrates by plasma-assisted chemcial vapor deposition(PACVD) technique. The Si addition to TiN film caused to change the microstructure such as grain size refinement, randomly multi-oriented microstructure, and nano-sized codeposition of silicon nitride in the TiN matrix. The Ti-Si-N film, contains Si content of ∼7 at.%, showed the micro-hardness value of ∼3400 HK, which was higher than the pure TiN film whose hardness was ∼1500HK. The Ti-Si(7 at.%)-N film also showed much improved anti-oxidation properties compared with those of the pure TiN film. These properties were also related to the microstructure of Ti-Si(7 at.%)-N film was formed and retarded further oxidation of the nitridelayer. These properties were also related to the microstructure of Ti-Si(7 at.%)-N film which was characterized by nano-sized precipitates of silicon nitride phase in the TiN matrix and randomly oriented grains.

Co-Cr(-Ta)/Si 이층막의 자기적 특성 (Magnetic Properties of Co-Cr(-Ta)/Si Bilayered Thin Film)

  • In odder to investigate the magnetic properties of CoCr-based bilayered thin films on kind of underlayer, we introduced amorphous Si layer to Co-Cr(-Ta) magnetic layer as underlayer. First, we prepared CoCr and CoCrTa single layer using the Facing Targets Sputtering system to investigate theirs properties. It was revealed that with increasing the film thickness of CoCr, CoCrTa single layer, crystalline orientation and perpendicular coercivity was improved. The CoCrTa thin film showed bettor crystalline and magnetic characteristics than CoCr thin film. As a result of investigating magnetic properties of CoCr and CoCrTa magnetic layer on introducing the Si underlayer, perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization of CoCr/Si and CoCrTa/Si bilayered thin film were decreased due to the increased grain size and diffusion of Si atoms to magnetic layer. And they showed constant with increasing the film thickness of Si thin film. However, in case of CoCrTa/Si bilayered thin film, in-plane coercivity was controlled low at about 250Oe. The c-axis orientations of CoCr/si and CoCrTa/Si bilayered thin film showed a good crystalline characteristics as about $2^{\circ}$.

3-Dimensional Thermoforming Computer Simulation Considering Orthotropic Property of Film

  • The tensile properties of the extruded PC film were measured in the extrusion direction and perpendicular to the extrusion direction. The measured properties were the elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio at the glass transition temperature of PC. The measured orthotropic properties of the film were used for the computer simulation of vacuum forming. In this simulation, three mold shapes were tested: dome, trapezoid, and cubic, and the vacuum was applied between the mold surface and the heated film. The stress, strain, thickness, and stretch ratio distributions of the film in different mold shapes were observed and compared. The thermoforming simulation method used in this study and the obtained results, considering the determined orthotropic properties, can be applied to the thermoforming of various three-dimensional shapes.

Surface and Dielectric Properties of Oriental Lacquer Films Modified by UV-Curable Silicone Acrylate

  • In order to achieve an oriental lacquer (OL) film with a thick consistency, UV-curable silicone acrylate (SA) was added to OL by a dual curing process. The addition of 5 wt% UV-curable SA to the OL fomulation enabled the preparation via a single drying step of a $77{\mu}m-thick$ film exhibiting excellent surface properties. FTIR-ATR was used to investigate the effect of UV-curable SA on the behavior of film formation during curing, and the relaxation behavior of the produced films was investigated by dielectric spectroscopy. Dielectric properties were measured in the frequency range $10^{-2}-10^5\;Hz$ at various temperatures between -100 and $200^{\circ}C$. The results demonstrated that OL modified by UV-curable SA has a higher glass transition temperature and stronger secondary relaxation at a lower temperature than the conventional OL system. The OL film modified with UV-curable SA was presumed to be harder at the surface and tougher than conventional OL film.

전기도금법으로 제조한 Ni-Fe 나노박막의 스트레스와 자기적 특성에 미치는 용액의 조건 및 전류밀도의 영향 (Effect of Bath Conditions and Current Density on Stress and Magnetic Properties of Ni-Fe Nano Thin Films Synthesized by Electrodeposition Methods)

  • The internal stress and magnetic properties (coercivity and squareness) of Ni-Fe nano thin film synthesized by electrodeposition method were studied as a function of acidic chloride bath conditions (composition and temperature) and current density. Fe deposition patterns were different depending on the temperature of the solution, the stress of film decreased with increasing the solution temperature, and the depending on the amount of Fe deposition showed a parabolic shape. The grain size of film was inversely proportional to stress of thin film. The internal stress of thin film and magnetic properties were deeply relevant, and the stress of thin film had a relationship with bath conditions and grain size of the thin film surface.

Antimicrobial Properties of Wheat Gluten-Chitosan Composite Film in Intermediate-Moisture Food Systems

  • Wheat gluten-chitosan composite film (WGCCF) can prevent moisture migration and enhance the antimicrobial properties of gluten in intermediate-moisture foods like sandwiches. To mimic the structure of actual sandwich-type products we developed multi-layer food models, where moisture content and water activity differ. Water activity gradients direct moisture migration and therefore determine product characteristics and product stability. A 10% wheat gluten film-forming solution was mixed with chitosan film-forming solution (0-3%, w/w) and evaporated to generate WGCCF. Addition of 3% chitosan enhanced the mechanical properties of the film composite, lowered its water vapor permeability, and improved its ability to protect against both, Streptococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli, in a 24 hr sandwich test (reduction of 1.3 and 2.7 log cycles, respectively, compared to controls). Best barrier and antimicrobial performance was found for 3% chitosan WGCCF at pH 5.1. Film of this type may find application as barrier film for intermediate-moisture foods.
