The epitaxially grown Mg-doped GaN thin film was prepared by MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) for a SAW(Surface Acoustic Wave) filter. Mg-doped GaN thin film had enough properties for a SAW filter which include crystallinity and morphology. The surface morphology and crystalline of the Mg-doped GaN thin films were characterized using AFM and an X-ray rocking curve. The SAW filter, which was fabricated by lift-off process and frequency response, was measured by HP 8753C network analyzer. Center frequency was 96.687 MHz and SAW velocity was 5801 m/s when wavelength(λ) was 60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Insertion loss was over -10 dB, Q was factor over 200, and side lobe attenuation was over 22 dB which was suitable for use as a SAW filter. Electro-mechanical coupling coefficient (k$^2$) was calculated from the measured data. k$^2$ was from 1 % to 1.44 %. The fabricated SAW filter using Mg-doped GaN/sapphire structure has good qualities as a filter and will be used as a SAW filter for operating RF frequency.

In this paper we analyzed the effects of pentacene thickness and the location of source/drain contacts on the performance of pentacene TFT Above a certain thickness of pentacene thin film the pentacene grain was turned from the thin film phase into the bulk phase, resulting in degrading the crystallinity and then performance as well. For the top contact structure in which source/drain contacts are located above pentacene film, the contact resistance decreased comparing with the bottom contact structure. However, the leakage current in the off-state became large and then the related parameters such as on/off current ratio were deteriorated. We found that the thickness of around 300$\AA$-700$\AA$ was suitable, and that the bottom contact was more feasible for hig Performance pentacene OTFT.
To improve the adhesion of Mo thin film as a back contact material, a DC magnetron sputtering system was used to deposit in the form of a bi-layer on soda-lime glass. Films with low resistivity and good adhesion were obtained from this deposition, even though the two qualities were found be hard to obtain at the same time. The best Mo bi-layer showed a resistivity of $8.13{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at $500^{\circ}C$ and $3.0{\times}10^{-3}\;Torr$. The XRD measurements showed that the crystallites of the films were mainly oriented in the (110) direction, the FE-SEM images revealed that the resistivity of the Mo films decreased with increasing substrate temperature, which temperature reduction is accompanied by an increase of the grain size. These experimental results were analyzed using the Fuchs-Sondheimer theory. Our Mo bi-layer film with better crystallinity and lower resistivity can be suitably used as a back-contact layer for CIGS solar cells.

In this study, TiAlSiN coatings have been successfully synthesized on stainless steel and tungsten carbide substrate by a hybrid coating method employing a cathodic arc and a magnetron sputtering source. TiAl and Si target were vaporized with the cathodic arc source and the magnetron sputtering source, respectively. Process gas was the mixture of nitrogen and argon gas. With the increase of Si content, the crystallinity and the grain size of TiAlSiN film was decreased. At the Si content of more than 8 at.%, grain size of TiAlSiN was saturated at around 2 nm. The hardness value of the TiAlSiN film increased with incorporation of Si, and had the maximum value of ~ 3,233 Hv at the Si content of 9.2 at.%. The oxidation resistance of TiAlSiN film was enhanced with the increase of Si content.

Cubic boron nitride(c-BN) films were deposited on tungsten carbide insert tool by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(MPECVD) from a gas mixture of triethyl borate$(B(C_2H_5O)_3)$, ammonia $(NH_3)$, hydrogen$(H_2)$ and argon(Ar). The qualities of deposited thin film were investigated by x-ray diffrac-tion(XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) and micro Raman spectroscope. The surface morphologies of the synthesised BN as well as crystallinity appear to be highly dependent on the flow rate of $B(C_2H_5O)_3$ and $(NH_3)$ gases. The deposited film had more crystallized phases with 5 scem of $B(C_2H_5O)_3$ and $(NH_3)$ gases than with 2 sccm, and the phase was identified as c-BN by micro Raman spectroscope and XRD. The adhesion strength were also increased with increasing flow rates of $B(C_2H_5O)_3$ and $(NH_3)$ gases.

This paper describes the physical characterizations of polycrystalline 3C-SiC thin films heteroepitaxially grown on Si wafers with thermal oxide, In this work, the 3C-SiC film was deposited by LPCVD (low pressure chemical vapor deposition) method using single precursor 1, 3-disilabutane $(DSB:\;H_3Si-CH_2-SiH_2-CH_3)\;at\;850^{\circ}C$. The crystallinity of the 3C-SiC thin film was analyzed by XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray diffraction) and FT-IR (fourier transform-infrared spectometers), respectively. The surface morphology was also observed by AFM (atomic force microscopy) and voids or dislocations between SiC and $SiO_2$ were measured by SEM (scanning electron microscope). Finally, residual strain was investigated by Raman scattering and a peak of the energy level was less than other type SiC films, From these results, the grown poly 3C-SiC thin film is very good crystalline quality, surface like mirror, and low defect and strain. Therefore, the polycrystalline 3C-SiC is suitable for harsh environment MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems) applications.
Transparent $TiO_2$ thin films have been prepared by sol-gel spin coating method. The sols used for deposition of thin films were prepared with different ethanol content. The effect of ethanol (solvent) concentration and annealing temperature on the performance of $TiO_2$ thin film solar cells has been studied. The results indicate that the as deposited films are amorphous in nature. $TiO_2$ thin films annealed at temperatures above $350^{\circ}C$ exhibited crystalline nature with anatase phase. The results also indicated that the crystallinity of the films improved with increase of annealing temperature. The high resolution transmission electron microscope images showed lattice fringes corresponding to the anatase phase of $TiO_2$. The band gap of the deposited films has been found to decrease with increase in annealing temperature and increase with increase in ethanol concentration. The dependents of photovoltaic efficiency of the dye-sensitized $TiO_2$ thin film solar cells (DSSCs) with the amount of ethanol used to prepare thin films was determined from photocurrent-voltage curves.
Benzodithiophene based organic semiconducting polymer was designed and synthesized by stille coupling reaction. The structure of polymer was confirmed by NMR and IR. The weight average molecular weight ($M_w$) of polymer was 8,400 using GPC with polydispersity index of 1.4. The thermal, optical and electrochemical properties of polymer were characterized by TGA and DSC, UV-vis absorption and cyclic voltammetry. OTFT device using PBDT-10 exhibited the mobility of $7.2{\times}10^{-5}\;cm^2\;V^{-1}\;s^{-1}$ and $I_{on}/I_{off}$ of $2.41{\times}10^3$. The film morphology and crystallinity of PBDT-10, was studied using AFM and XRD.

The amorphous vanadium oxide as a cathode material is very preferable for fabricating high performance micro-battery. The amorphous vanadium oxide cathode is preferred over the crystalline form because three times more lithium ions can be inserted into the amorphous cathode, thus making a battery that has a higher capacity. The electrochemical properties of sputtered films are strongly dependent on the oxygen partial pressure in the sputtering gas. The effect of different oxygen partial pressure on the electrochemical properties of vanadium oxide thin films formed by r.f. reactive sputtering deposition were investigated. The stoichiometry of the as-deposited films were investigated by Auger electro spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy measurements were carried out to investigate structural properties and surface morphology, respectively. For high oxygen partial pressure(>30% ), the films were polycrystalline V$_2$O$_{5}$ while an amorphous vanadium oxide was obtained at the lower oxygen partial pressure(< 15%). Half-cell tests were conducted to investigate the electrochemical properties of the vanadium oxide film cathode. The cell capacity was about 60 $\mu$ Ah/$\textrm{cm}^2$ m after 200 cycle when oxygen partial pressure was 20%. These results suggested that the capacity of the thin film battery based on vanadium oxide cathode was strongly depends on crystallinity.y.
Bismuth-substituted yttrium iron garnet (Bi:YIG, $Bi_{0.5}Y_{2.5}Fe_5O_{12}$) films were deposited with aerosol deposition method and their magnetic and optical properties were investigated as a function of annealing temperature. Since the ceramic films deposited with aerosol deposition method have not a perfect crystal structure due to non-uniform internal stress occurred by mechanical collision during their deposition, the post annealing could be a key process to release its internal stress and to improve its micro structure for optimizing the magnetic and magneto-optic properties of films. The crystallinity of Bi: YIG film was improved with increase of annealing temperature, and the saturation magnetization increased up to 87 emu/cc at $800^{\circ}C$. The Faraday rotation increased up to $1.4deg/{\mu}m$ by annealing at $700^{\circ}C$ around the wavelength of $0.5{\mu}m$. The optical transmittance of the Bi:YIG film was also improved in visible region.
