We prove that every minimal symplectic filling of the link of a quotient surface singularity can be obtained from its minimal resolution by applying a sequence of rational blow-downs and symplectic antiflips. We present an explicit algorithm inspired by the minimal model program for complex 3-dimensional algebraic varieties.

Objectives: The goal of this study was to compare the density of gutta-percha root fillings obturated with the following techniques: cold lateral (CL) compaction, ultrasonic lateral (UL) compaction, and warm vertical (WV) compaction. Materials and Methods: Thirty-three extracted mandibular first molars, with two separate mesial canals in each, were selected. After instrumentation, the canals were stratified into three groups based on canal length and curvature, and underwent obturation with one of the techniques. No sealer was used in order to avoid masking any voids. The teeth were imaged pre- and post-obturation using micro-computed tomography. The reconstructed three-dimensional images were analyzed volumetrically to determine the amount of gutta-percha present in every 2 mm segment of the canal. P values < 0.05 were considered to indicate statistical significance. Results: The overall mean volume fraction of gutta-percha was $68.51{\pm}6.75%$ for CL, $86.56{\pm}5.00%$ for UL, and $88.91{\pm}5.16%$ for WV. Significant differences were found between CL and UL and between CL and WV (p < 0.05), but not between UL and WV (p = 0.526). The gutta-percha density of the roots treated with WV and UL increased towards the coronal aspect, but this trend was not noted in the CL group. Conclusions: WV compaction and UL compaction produced a significantly denser gutta-percha root filling than CL compaction. The density of gutta-percha was observed to increase towards the coronal aspect when the former two techniques were used.
The notion that dental amalgam is a potential source of mercury exposure remains a controversial issue. However, there are few epidemiological analyses that have addressed whether this occurs in children. We aimed in our current study to identify the relationship between dental amalgam filling surfaces and the blood mercury levels in a cohort of 711 South Korean children aged between 8-9 years. Oral examinations were conducted to detect the number of amalgam filling surfaces on the teeth of these individuals. Blood samples were also taken from these children to assess the levels of mercury accumulation in the body. The amalgam filling surfaces were classified into four groups based on their number: 0 (n = 368), 1-5 (n = 219), 6-10 (n = 89), and 11+ (n = 35). The blood mercury levels in the children with more than 10 amalgam surfaces was 0.47 ${\mu}g$/L higher on average than those with no amalgam surfaces after adjusting for the frequency of fish or seafood consumption, age, and gender (P < 0.05). We found from our data that a higher number of dental amalgam fillings correlated with a higher blood mercury level in Korean children. Further studies are needed to investigate whether these elevated mercury levels exert neurotoxic or nephrotoxic effects.
Ease of manipulation, adequate mechanical properties, long years of experience and economical cost are the factors which have established amalgam as the most widely used material for dental restorations. But amalgam restoration may require replacement because of secondary caries, fracture, "fall-out", dimensional change, tarnish or corrosion etc.. These failures of amalgam restorations seem to arise from failures during operations rather than from the inherent shortcomings of the material itself or of the patient's mismanagement. It is anticipated that notonly number of analgam restoration, but failures will be increase after more extensive utilization of the medical insurance which began in 1977. Then authors think that it would be helpful for the development of better treatment in daily dental practice, to know the duration of amalgam restorations and the reasons for their replacement. The data for this survey was compiled from 2, 856 out-patients of the Department of Dentistry, Ewha Woman's University Hospital from January 1975 to December 1977. 260 cases among 1,718 fillings were studied, of which 205 cases both had a single reason for replacement and recognized the date of the previous filling. The results obtained were as follows; 1. Amalgam fillings were 58. 5 percent of all dental restorative materials. Of these, 15. 13 percent of the amalgam restorations had to be replaced. 2. The first reason for replacement of amalgam restorations was secondary caries (56.10%), the second was fracture (23.80%) and the third was "fall-out" (8.78%). 3. Among those amalgms requiring replacement, 52.2 percent had been in place less than 3 years, 70.7 percent within 5 years and 89.8 percent had been in place less than 10 years. Only 10.2 percent had been in place more than 10 years.
Materials used for repairing and restoring both pottery and porcelain are practically organic, which makes the analysis procedure difficult in the course of time. It is, however, important in the field of conservation to analyze the material applied in the past. In consequence, this research will examine the components of the restoration materials collected in the process of ceramic conservation: the fillings using SEM-EDS and FT-IR; retouching materials; the adhesive used between the filling and retouching material.
This research chose three kinds of sleeping bags with different fillings (A: interfill polyester, B: brushed polyester, C: down) and put them in two environmental conditions (Env. I : $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}10%$; Env. II : $18{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, $70{\pm}10%$). The measured Skin temperature, Temperature and Humidity in sleeping bag, Rectal temperature and Psychological reaction. The results of experiment were as follows: 1. The mean skin temperature of Sleeping Bag B was the closest to the most comfortable value in the two environmental conditions. 2. Temperature and humidity in sleeping bags, in both environmental conditions, contained the value nearest to the most comfortable one in Sleeping Bag B. 3. Rectal temperature in both environments had a slight change in the range of antibody temperature in all the subjects of sleeping bags. 4. As subjective psychological reaction, both thermal and humid sensation approached the most comfortable zone in Sleeping Bag B.
A new approach which combines implicit surface scheme and point projection method is presented in order to fill the arbitrarily shaped holes in the polygon model. In the method a trimmed surface which has an outer boundary curve is generated by using the implicit surface scheme and normal projection of point onto the base surface. The base surface is constructed by creating smooth implicit surface from the incomplete polygon model through which the surface should pass. In this paper an implicit surface is defined by a radial basis function, a continuous scalar-valued function over the domain $R^3$. The base surface is the set of all points at which this scalar function takes on the value zero and is created by placing zero-valued constraints at the vertices of the polygon model. In order to show the validity of the present study, various hole fillings are carried out for the complex polygon model of arbitrary topology.
Damage Cases of variously type are reported that the ground subsidence is caused by the underground cavities at structure and construction works in lime stone or abandoned zone. A underground cavities by direct for zone having an effect on structure have been filled with cement agents. But this measure is urgently needed in materials and work methods, because ground water pollution at water down fillings and flow out, ground disturb at high participle, damage of farms and fishery. The research confirm application of filling method and filling materials of environmentally friendly and economical by Hi-FA new materials have both liquidity and viscosity from case reinforcement in APT site, Gunsan.
