This study aims to investigate the sound absorption ability of Acanthopanax senticosus wastes as an eco-friendly sound-absorbing material. The sound absorption coefficient was examined with different heights of A. senticosus wastes filling (40, 60, 80, and 100 mm) in impedance tubes. The sound absorption peaks shifted to a lower frequency as the height of A. senticosus wastes inside the tubes increased. The sound absorption ability at filling heights of 80 and 100 mm was obtained as 0.3M and 0.5M grades, respectively, based on KS F 3503. The results suggest that A. senticosus wastes exhibit good sound absorption ability and can therefore be used as an efficient, eco-friendly sound-absorbing material.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important crop and its yield must be improved to feed the increasing global population. Recently developed high-yielding varieties with extra-large sink capacity often have a problem in unstable grain-filling. Therefore, understanding limiting factors for improving grain-filling and controlling them are essential for further improvement of rice grain yield. However, since grain-filling rate was determined by complex sink-source balance, the ability of grain-filling was very difficult to evaluate. Source ability for 'grain' was not only determined by the ability of carbon assimilation in leaves, but also that of carbon translocation from leaves to panicles. Sink strength was determined by the complex carbon metabolism from sucrose degradation to starch synthesis. Hence, to evaluate the grain-filling ability and determine its regulatory steps, the whole picture of carbon flow from photosynthesis at leaves to starch synthesis at grains must be revealed in a metabolite level. In this study, the yield and grain growth rate of three high-yielding varieties, which show high sink capacity commonly, were compared. Momiroman showed lower grain filling rate and slower grain growth rate than the other varieties, Hokuriku 193 and Tequing. To clarify the limiting point in the carbon flow of Momiroman, $CO_2$ labeled by stable isotope ($^{13}C$) was fed to three varieties during ripening period. The ratio of $^{13}C$ left in the stem was higher in Momiroman 24 hours after feeding, suggesting inefficient carbon translocation of Momiroman. More interestingly, $^{13}C$ translocation from soluble fraction to insoluble one in the grain seemed to be slower in Momiroman. To get the further insight in a metabolite level, we are now trying the $^{13}C$ labeling metabolome analysis in the developing grains.
Al-5.5Zn-2.5Mg-l.5Cu semi-solid slurry was prepared by cooling the liquid metal with a low superheat to a solid and liquid co-existing temperature. Relatively round solid particles could be obtained in the slurry through the simple process. The prepared slurry was deformed into the metallic mold by a press and the mechanical properties of obtained specimens were investigated. Mold filling ability of the alloy slurry was also investigated and compared with that of A356 alloy. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy showed lower mold filling ability than A356 alloy probably because small amount of eutectic phase is present and the heat of fusion generated during solidification is smaller than that of A356 alloy.

Purpose: To test the apical leakage prevention performance of three different materials through protein leakage procedures using bovine serum albumin (BSA) and Bradford protein reagent. Materials and Methods: A total of 60 human single-rooted teeth were divided into 4 groups, and conventional root canal filling was done. The root was cut 3 mm from the apex, and a cavity was formed. Proroot MTA (MTA), Fuji II LC (GI), Fuji II LC with XP bond (GIA), and Caviton (CA) were used as experimental materials to fill the cavity in a retrograde filling manner. The extent of BSA leakage was then measured with a ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer 24, 48, and 72 hours after filling. Result: After 24 hours, among the 15 teeth of each group, 2 in MTA, 4 in GI, 3 in GIA, and 7 in CA showed leakage. After 48 hours, 3 in MTA, 5 in GI, 5 in GIA, and 10 in CA had leakage and discoloration. After 72 hours, among the 15 teeth of each group, 3 in MTA, 6 in GI, 5 in GIA, and 10 in CA showed leakage. The leakage in the CA group was greater than that in the MTA group at 48 and 72 hours based on Fisher's exact test (P=0.025), and the difference was statistically significant. Similarly, the leakage in the CA group was greater than that in the MTA group over time based on the Kaplan-Meier survival estimate (P=0.011), and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Glass ionomer, glass ionomer after adhesive application, and MTA all showed leakage. Caviton showed greater leakage compared to MTA 48 and 72 hours after filling, and the difference was statistically significant; thus suggesting that Caviton is not appropriate as retrograde filling material considering its sealing ability.
Today, commercialized Hinoki cypress cubes are used for fragrance, humidification, and pillows in Korea. In this study, the sound absorption ability of Hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa) cubes was examined. The three groups of Hinoki cypress cubes were prepared depending on their dimension (L: 9 × 9 × 9, M: 7 × 7 × 7, S: 4 × 4 × 4 mm). Their sound absorption coefficient was examined after filling 6, 8, 10, and 12 cm height in impedance tubes, respectively. Overall, the sound absorption ability depending on dimension was superior in the M group compared to the L and S groups. Also, as the filling height increased, the sound absorption capacity increased. In sum, noise reduction coefficients (NRC) of all Hinoki cypress cubes were 0.41-0.59. Thus, this research found that Hinoki cypress cubes have a sound-absorbing function.
With the increasing tension of current coal resources and the increasing depth of coal mining, the gob-side entry retaining technology has become a preferred coal mining method in underground coal mines. Among them, the technology of the gob-side entry retaining with the high-water filling material can not only improve the recovery rate of coal resources, but also reduce the amount of roadway excavation. In this paper, based on the characteristics of the high-water filling material, the technological process of gob-side entry retaining with the high-water filling material is introduced. The early and late stress states of the filling body formed by the high-water filling materials are analyzed and studied. Taking the 8th floor No.3 working face of Xin'an coal mine as engineering background, the stress and displacement of surrounding rock of roadway with different filling body width are analyzed through the FLAC3D numerical simulation software. As the filling body width increases, the supporting ability of the filling body increases and the deformation of the surrounding rock decreases. According to the theoretical calculation and numerical simulation of the filling body width, the filling body width is finally determined to be 3.5m. Through the field observation, the deformation of the surrounding rock of the roadway is within the reasonable range. It is concluded that the gob-side entry retaining with the high-water filling material can control the deformation of the surrounding rock, which provides a reference for gob-side entry retaining technology with similar geological conditions.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability of various canal filling methods. Palatal roots of ninety extracted human maxillary molar teeth were resected at cementoenamel junction. Eighty of them were randomly assigned to four experimental groups, ten were served as positive and negative controls. All canals were prepared to # 40 using Profile. Experimental groups were obturated by lateral condensation technique, Thermafil technique, Continuous Wave of Condensation Technique, and down-pack & back-fill technique of Obtura-II, each with root canal sealer. Control groups were not obturated. Teeth were immersed in resorcinol-formaldehyde resin for 5 days at $4^{\circ}C$, and the resin was allowed to polymerize completely for 4 days at room temperature. Teeth were then ground horizontally at 1.5mm(level 1), 2.5mm(level 2), 3.5 mm(level 3) from the anatomical apex and examined with a stereomicroscope at ${\times}40$ magnification. The gap between the canal wall and the filling material, which was filled with the resin, was measured at each of the three levels. Each ratio of leakage was obtained by calculating the ratio of the area of the resin to the total area of the canal and was analyzed statistically (Rank-sum test). The results were as follows : 1. At the level 1, there was the greatest leakage in the Thermafil group and Obtura-II group, and the difference between the Obtura-II group and Continuous Wave of Condensation Technique group was statistically significant(p<0.05). 2. At the level 2, there was the least leakage in the Continuous Wave of Condensation Technique group, but there was no statistically significant difference between each group (p>0.05). 3. At the level 3, there was no statistically significant difference between each group(p>0.05).

The focus of this study is to evaluate the field applicability of the newly developed inorganic thixotropic-grout in various ways. In order to do this, the volume stability and the permeability of the inorganic thixotropic-grout have been measured and compared to the existing silica type grouts. In addition, the filling capability of the grout into the tail void has been evaluated through both an experiment with a miniature tail-void filling equipment and a test filling at the shield TBM construction site. The volume loss of the inorganic thixotropic-grout after a 14 day-curing under the atmosphere condition was appeared to be minimal. The excellent waterproofing ability of the inorganic thixotropic-grout was confirmed through a permeability test. The toxicity of the inorganic thixotropic-grout has been evaluated through a toxicity test of aquatic fishes (KS M 0111) and the pH value of the liquid eluviated from inorganic thixotropic-grout was measured as an average of 8.0 and a fatality rate of goldfish after 96 hours was 10% or so. The existence of harmful heavy metals in the liquid eluviated from the inorganic thixotropic-grout has been also examined through an atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) test. Any of harmful heavy metals were not detected and the detected level of $Cr^{6+}$ and Cd was far below the standard. Based on both an experiment with a miniature tail-void filling equipment and a test filling at the shield TBM construction site, the filling ability of inorganic thixotropic-grout into the tail void was proved to be excellent.
The lost foam casting process was used to fabricate Al-Si-Mg cast specimens, and the effects of the chemical composition and process variables on the tensile properties and the mold filling ability were investigated. Some porosity formation was observed in thick sections of the casting and better tensile properties were obtained for thin sections, presumably because of their lower porosity and the higher cooling rate. Tensile properties were not clearly enhanced by grain refining treatment with Ti; however, the elongation was significantly improved by Sr modification of the Al-Si-Mg alloy. The mold filling distance was generally proportional to the pouring temperature of the melt, and the distance was also increased by the addition of Ti.
Liquid formability of bulk amorphous alloys is known to be very poor due to their high viscosity comparing with conventional metallic materials. It is important to have the fabricating technology of bulk amorphous alloys in order to make the components with complicated shape. Liquid formability includes the mold cavity filling ability and the hot tear(crack) resistance during solidification. A mold made of a commercial tool steel for the formability test was designed. Melting was performed by the arc melting furnace with melting capacity of 200 g in an argon atmosphere. Liquid formability and glass forming ability of Cu base and Ni base bulk amorphous alloys were measured and evaluated. Mold filling ability of Ni-Zr-Ti-Si-Sn alloy was better than that of Cu-Ni-Zr-Ti alloy, however the reverse is the hot tear resistance. Bulk amorphous alloy is very susceptible to crack if partial crystallization occurs during solidification. Crack resistance was thought to be closely related with the glass forming ability.
