Earth has been used as a building material not only our country but also many foreign countries in the world. In foreign countries, we can often find the high-storied earthen houses which have been maintained for over several hundred years, which means the fact that earth differs in durability according to the methods of utilizing earth. So, the purpose of this study is to progress the fundamental research for utilizing earth as a wall material. Also, the another purpose of this study is to utilize the optimum micro-filler effect which adjusts the grain size of earth and the lime composite which promotes chemical combining power, and so examine whether earth material ensures its high compressive strength. This study applied both of rammed earth method and pour earth method among earth architecture methods. This study investigated compressive strength, slump, and air content according to unit binder weight. On the basis of such experimental results, this study derived the following conclusions. 1) Optimum micro-filler mixtures reduce a lot of fine particles contained in earth. If optimum micro-filler mixtures are used as aggregates, they develop lower W/B and relatively higher strength than general earth. 2) In this study, which uses optimum micro-filler earth mixtures and lime composite, rammed earth method develops 29MPa and pour earth method develops 28MPa in 28 days compressive strength. Such strengths can be utilized in building walls.

In order to measure sound transmission loss (STL) of a shipboard window of small size, a special partition is built into the test opening between two reverberation rooms and the specimen is placed in that partition. For high sound insulation, the filler wall often has multi-layered structure such as double-brick wall or buckhead structure with thick steel plate, absorptive material, and sandwich panels. This paper discusses the installation method of a multi-layered filler wall that consist of gypsum boards, lead plates, and glass wool. The experimental results of various wall structures are introduced. The comparison between the results show that the sound bridge effect plays a significant role in lowering the maximum STL of the filler wall. It is also found that the higher the sound insulation performance of the filler wall is, the more important the franking transmission through other side wall of the test facility is.
Manufacturing process of porous glass by the filler method was studied. Commercial soda-lime-silicate glass powder was mixed with inorganic salt as the filler such as KCl, K2SO4, Na2SO4. Sintering shrinkages of mixed powders with the variation of sintering temperature were compared, and the effects of the fillers to shrinkages of mixed powder were increased in the order of Na2SO4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of pore diameter were manufactured when the filler sizes 100~200 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The open pore volume of porous glass is determined by the quantity of filler and porous glasses having open pore volume between 30 and 70 vol% are available. Available sintering temperature range for preparation of porous glass is from the softening temperature of the glass powder to eutectic melting temperature of DTA curve of mixed powder.

In this paper, we have proposed dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna for satellite internet service applications. Some properties of the antenna such as return loss, radiation pattern, and gain have been simulated and measured. The proposed antenna has a Phi-shaped slot on the circular patch and is fabricated on the TLX-9 substrate. The radius of the circular patch is 25 mm, and it has a coaxial feeding structure. The dual-band Phi-shaped slot gap filler antenna has high-gain, small-size, simple-structure, and good radiation patterns at each band. The operating frequency band can be tuned by adjusting the length AL and FL of the Phi-shaped slot.
The unique cell wall micropores of pulp fiber can be utilized as loading site in variety of important practical application which could be the basis of new papermaking technologies. One of these includes the manufature of paper containing higher levels of in situ filler precipitated. Hardwood pulp fiber were first impregnated with the solution of sodium carbonate($Na_2CO_3$). The micropores in cell wall of pulp fibers were filled with the liquid salt solution. The second calcium nitrate($Ca(NO_3)_2$) solution formed an insoluble calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$) precipitate within the cell wall micropores by interacting with the first sodium carbonate solution. The effects of chemical concentration and dryness of pulp fibers on the retention of cell wall micropore loaded filler were investigated. The paper properties of cell wall micropore loaded pulp fibers were compared with those of conventionally loaded and lumen loaded pulp fibers. Also the presense of the fillers within the cell wall micropore was observed by SEM. Increasing the chemical concentration to generate the calcium carbonate increased the retention of filler in cell wall micropore loaded pulp fibers. The particle size distribution of precipitated calcium carbonate ranged from $0.1{\mu}m$ to $80{\mu}m$. But, the average particle size of cell wall micropore loaded calcium carbonate was $4{\mu}m$. The paper made from never dried pulp fibers, the cell wall micropores which were filled with calcium carbonate, had better mechanical and optical properties than those of conventionally loaded or lumen loaded pulp fibers.
The Ni-base superalloy GTD111 DS is used in the first stage blade of high power land-based gas turbines. Advanced repair technologies of the blade have been introduced to the gas turbine industry over recent years. The effect of the filler metal powder on Transient Liquid Phase bonding phenomenon and tensile mechanical properties was investigated on the GTD111 DS superalloy. At the filler metal powder N series, the base metal powders fully melted at the initial time and a large amount of the base metal near the bonded interlayer was dissolved by liquid inter metal. Liquid filler metal powder was eliminated by isothermal solidification which was controlled by the diffusion of B into the base metal. The solids in the bonded interlayer grew from the base metal near the bonded interlayer inward the insert metal during the isothermal solidification. The bond strength of N series filler metal powder was over 1000 MPa. and ${\gamma}'$ phase size of N series TLP bonded region was similar with base metal by influence of Ti, Al elements. At the insert metal powder M series, the Si element fluidity of the filler metal was good but microstructure irregularity on bonded region because of excessive Si element. Nuclear of solids formed not only from the base metal near the bonded interlayer but also from the remained filler metal powder in the bonded interlayer. When the isothermal solidification was finished, the content of the elements in the boned interlayer was approximately equal to that of the base metal. But boride and silicide formed in the base metal near the bonded interlayer. And these boride decreased with the increasing of holding time. The bond strength of M series filler metal powder was about 400 MPa.
The predominant sintering mechanisms of low firing temperature ceramic substrate which consists of borosilicate glass containing alumina as a filler are the rearrangement of alumina particles and the viscous flow of glass powders. In this system, sintering condition depends on the volume ratio of alumina to glass and on the particle size. When the substrate contains about 35 vol% alumina filler and the average alumina particle size is 4 $\mu\textrm{m}$, the best firing condition is obtained at the temperature range of 900∼1000$^{\circ}C$. The extensive rearrangement behavior occurs at these conditions, and the optimum sintering condition is attained by smaller size of glass particles, too. The formation of cristobalite during sintering causes the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between the substrate and Si chip. This phenomenon degradates the capacity of Si chip. Therefore, the crystallization should be prevented. In the alumina filled borosilicate glass system, the crystallization does not occur. This effect may have some relation with aluminum ions in alumina. For aluminum ions diffuse into glass matrix during sintering, functiong as network former.

Nano ZnO with an average size of 8 nm was prepared by thermal decomposition of zinc oxalate at $450^{\circ}C$. A series of based composite polymer electrolyte PEO-$LiClO_4$ and nano ZnO as a filler have been synthesized using solution cast technique, with varying the filler ratio systematically. XRD, DSC and FTIR studies have been conducted to investigate the structure and interaction of different groups in the composite polymer electrolyte. Effect of nano ZnO ceramic filler concentration on the structure of composites and their electrical properties (DC-conductivity, AC-conductivity, dielectric constant, dielectric loss and impedance) at different frequencies and temperatures was studied. Melting temperature ($T_m$) of PEO decreased with the addition of both $LiClO_4$ salt and nano ZnO filler due to increasing the amorphous state of polymer. All composite samples showed an ionic conductivity. The maximum room temperature ionic conductivity is found for $(ZnO)_{0.5}(PEO)_{12}(LiClO_4)$ composite sample. All the results are correlated and discussed.
Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is a typical plastic composite which is fabricated using fiber reinforcement with resin to represent the high strength properties. The mechanical properties of FRP should be determined by a fibrous material, and the studies about the role of fiber as a reinforcement has been an interested subject, whereas a study along the effect of filler is not so big. However, the filler effect must be considered on the properties of the composite, because the filler influence on the plastic or resin compound which reacts as a matrix material of the composite. Thus, in this work, we studied the filler effect with size and content using $3-6{\mu}m$ of ground calcium carbonate. The specimen was prepared by sheet molding compound (SMC) method, and the mechanical properties were compared with bending strength and tensile strength. As a result, it was confirmed that the size and contents of calcium carbonate affected the strength of composites, and the condition of $2.8{\mu}m$ which was the smallest size condition showed the highest strength.
