The paper discusses the effect of the winglets on the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of Boeing 737-800 aircraft by numerical approach. For this purpose, computational fluid dynamics and fluent commercial software are used to solve the compressible flow governing equations. The RANS method and the K-ω SST turbulence model are selected to simulate the subsonic flow around the wing with acceptable accuracy and low computational cost. The main variables of steady flow around the simple and blended wing in constant atmospheric conditions are computed by numerical solution of governing equations. The solution of the acoustic field has also been accomplished by the broad-band acoustic source model. The results reveal that adding a blended winglet increases the pressure difference near the wingtip, which increases the lift force. Also, the blended winglet reduces the power and magnitude of vorticities around the wingtip, which reduces the wing's drag force. The effects of winglets on aerodynamic forces lead to a 3.8% increase in flight range and a 3.6% increase in the maximum payload of the aircraft. Also, the acoustic power level variables on the surfaces and fields around the wing have been investigated integrally and locally.

Purposes: The purpose of this study is to develop and test a possible model that investigates the relationships between green investment, CSR disclosure, social collaboration initiatives, and firm distribution performance to deal with environmental change because it's become the major stakeholder since it affects increasingly global company performance index. Research methodology: In this study a quantitative method was adopted. The 220 respondents were owners and managers of manufacturing enterprises from Indonesia. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses, and the Partial Least Square (SmartPLS) was used as the data analysis tool. Findings: The study's finding shows that green investment has a significant effect on CSR disclosure, and CSR disclosure has a positive relationship with social collaborative initiatives and the firm's distribution performance. Similarly, social collaborative initiatives also significantly impact a firm's distribution performance. Limitations: This study uses variables that are still abstract and have not been able to regress the dimensions contained there into conclusion variables for each antecedent variable. In addition, this study only used a sample with a small scope, namely Central Java Province, Indonesia. Contribution: The findings of this study contribute to the body of literature in the field of organizational management and support the agency and stakeholder theories. For the practical contribution, this study provides the way to build and implement green-based investment strategies as a competitive edge and improve firm's distribution performance.
Water hammer following the tripping of pumps can lead to overpressures and negative pressures. Reduction in overpressure and negative pressure may be necessary to avoid failure, to improve the efficiency of operation and to avoid fatigue of system components. The field tests on the water hammer have been conducted on the pump rising pipeline system with an air chamber. The hydraulic transient is modeled using the method of characteristics. Minimizing the least squares problem representing the difference between the measured and predicted transient response in the system performs the calibration of the simulation program. Among the input variables used in the water hammer analysis, the effects of the polytropic exponent, the discharge coefficient and the wave speed on the result of the numerical analysis were examined. The computer program developed in this study will be useful in designing the optimum parameters of an air chamber for the real pump pipeline system. The correct selection of air chamber size and the effects of related parameters to minimize water hammer have been investigated by both field measurements and numerical modeling.

Recently a lot of researches have been conducted on the progressive collapse of structures which is the total collapse of structures initiated by localized damage. Most of the previous studies on the field of progressive collapse have followed deterministic approach without considering uncertainty involved in design variables, which results in unknown reliability of the analysis results. In this study the sensitivity analyses are carried out with design variables such as yield strength, live load, damping ratio, and elastic modulus on the vertical deflection of the joint from which a column is suddenly removed. The Monte Calro simulation, tornado diagram method, and the first order second moment method(FOSM) are applied for the sensitivity study. According to the nonlinear static analysis results, the vertical deflection is most affected by the variation of yield strength of beams. The nonlinear dynamic analyses show that the behaviour of model structures is highly sensitive to variation of the yield strength of beams and the structural damping ratio.
Purpose - This paper aims to provide a step-by-step approach to factor analytic procedures, such as principal component analysis (PCA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and to offer a guideline for factor analysis. Authors have argued that the results of PCA and EFA are substantially similar. Additionally, they assert that PCA is a more appropriate technique for factor analysis because PCA produces easily interpreted results that are likely to be the basis of better decisions. For these reasons, many researchers have used PCA as a technique instead of EFA. However, these techniques are clearly different. PCA should be used for data reduction. On the other hand, EFA has been tailored to identify any underlying factor structure, a set of measured variables that cause the manifest variables to covary. Thus, it is needed for a guideline and for procedures to use in factor analysis. To date, however, these two techniques have been indiscriminately misused. Research design, data, and methodology - This research conducted a literature review. For this, we summarized the meaningful and consistent arguments and drew up guidelines and suggested procedures for rigorous EFA. Results - PCA can be used instead of common factor analysis when all measured variables have high communality. However, common factor analysis is recommended for EFA. First, researchers should evaluate the sample size and check for sampling adequacy before conducting factor analysis. If these conditions are not satisfied, then the next steps cannot be followed. Sample size must be at least 100 with communality above 0.5 and a minimum subject to item ratio of at least 5:1, with a minimum of five items in EFA. Next, Bartlett's sphericity test and the Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin (KMO) measure should be assessed for sampling adequacy. The chi-square value for Bartlett's test should be significant. In addition, a KMO of more than 0.8 is recommended. The next step is to conduct a factor analysis. The analysis is composed of three stages. The first stage determines a rotation technique. Generally, ML or PAF will suggest to researchers the best results. Selection of one of the two techniques heavily hinges on data normality. ML requires normally distributed data; on the other hand, PAF does not. The second step is associated with determining the number of factors to retain in the EFA. The best way to determine the number of factors to retain is to apply three methods including eigenvalues greater than 1.0, the scree plot test, and the variance extracted. The last step is to select one of two rotation methods: orthogonal or oblique. If the research suggests some variables that are correlated to each other, then the oblique method should be selected for factor rotation because the method assumes all factors are correlated in the research. If not, the orthogonal method is possible for factor rotation. Conclusions - Recommendations are offered for the best factor analytic practice for empirical research.
Evaluation method of soil fertility by application of geographic information system (GIS) which includes landscape characteristics and soil map data was investigated from productivities of red pepper and tobacco grown on the fields with no fertilization. Total 131 fields experiments, 64 fields of red pepper and 67 fields of tobacco were conducted from 22 and 23 fields for red pepper and tobacco, respectively, located at Cheangweon and Eumseong counties in 1996, from 20 and 25 fields at Boeun and Goesan counties in 1997, and 22 and 19 fields at Jincheon and Chungju counties in 1998. All the experimental sites were selected on the basis of wide range of distribution in landscape and soil attributes. Dry weights and nutrients (N, P and K) uptakes by red pepper plant and tobacco leaves were considered as basic fertility of the soil (BFS). The BFS was estimated by twenty-five independent variables including 13 chemical properties and 12 GIS data. Twenty-five independent variables were classified by two groups, 15 quantitative variables and 10 qualitative variables, and were analyzed by multiple linear regression (MLR) of REG and GLM models of SAS. Dry weight of red pepper (DWRP) and dry weight of tobacco leaves (DWTL) every year showed high variations by five times in difference plots with minimum yield and maximum yield indicating the diverse soil fertility among the experimental fields. Evaluation for the BFS by the MLR including independent variables was better than that by simple regression showing gradual improvement by adding chemical properties, quantitative variables, and qualitative variables of the GIS. However the evaluation for the BFS by the MLR showed the better result for tobacco than red pepper. For example the variability in the DWTL by MLR was explained 34.2% by only chemical properties, 35.0% by adding quantitative variables, and 72.5% by adding both the quantitative and qualitative variables of the GIS compared with 21.7% by simple regression with $NO_3-N$ content in soil. Consequently, it is assumed that this approach by the MLR including both the quantitative and qualitative variables was available as an evaluation model of soil fertility for upland field.
A vorticity-based method for the numerical solution of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. The governing equations for vorticity, velocity and pressure variables are expressed in an integro-differential form. The global coupling between the vorticity and the pressure boundary conditions is fully considered in an iterative procedure when numerical schemes are employed. The finite volume method of the second order TVD scheme is implemented to integrate the vorticity transport equation with the dynamic vorticity boundary condition. The velocity field is obtained by using the Biot-Savart integral. The Green's scalar identity is used to solve the total pressure in an integral approach similar to the surface panel methods which have been well established for potential flow analysis. The present formulation is validated by comparison with data from the literature for the two-dimensional cavity flow driven by shear in a square cavity. We take two types of the cavity now: (ⅰ) driven by non-uniform shear on top lid and body forces for which the exact solution exists, and (ⅱ) driven only by uniform shear (of the classical type).

We developed the durability estimation and design systems to minimize the volume, considering the durability, efficiency, and design requirements of worm gears. That is, we consider each kind of factors affecting on durability on the basis of AGMA Standard for the cylindrical and double-enveloping worm gears. We also estimate input power on the basis of wear and durability, bending strength and deflection of worm shaft, and we developed the durability estimation and design systems of power transmission worm gears introducing the optimal design method on the personal computer to be easily used in field. Also, we developed a method which converts the design variables obtained from the optimal design method to integer values(number of worm threads, number of worm threads, number of worm wheel teeth, etc.,) to be used in real design and production. The developed durability estimation and design method can be easily applied to the design of worm gears used as power transmission devices in machineries and is expected to be used for weight minimization of worm gear unit.

This paper describes an efficient and robust optimization method for helicopter rotor airfoil design in forward flight. Navier-Stokes analysis was employed to compute the dynamic response of an airfoil, which simulates the unsteady rotor flow-field in forward flight. The optimization system consists of two categories; Response Surface Method to construct the response surface model based on D-optimal 3-level factorial design, and Genetic Algorithm to obtain the optimum solution of a defined objective function including penalty terms of constraints. The influence of design variables and their interactions on the aerodynamic performance was examined through the optimization process.
The importance of time grows greater these days. For that reason, much research has been conducted to investigate time use. In particular, time spent in housework has been a focus in the human ecology. This study aimed to look into the field of research about time spent in housework from 1991 to 2004. To conduct the inquiry, 35 research projects were analyzed by subject. It turned out that most of the research studied the actual state of time use and related variables. Secondly, the research was classified by the measurement method, such as who wrote the time log or questionnaire, what type of response the researcher wanted and what kind of recording method was used. In 30 research projects, respondents wrote in their time logs and questionnaires by themselves. A few research projects presented certain types of behavior as examples of the actions in everyday life. For the recording method, 22 of the projects employed the time log method and 11 used questionnaires. Thirdly, all the research was categorized by the respondent of each project. 14 projects were targeted .at housewives and 14 were for married couples. Lastly, the definition of time spent in housework was used to consider these 35 studies. Most of the research studies defined the 'time spent in housework' as the total amount of the time spent in eating, clothing, housing, family care and household management.
