  • First, We will briefly introduce early science results of AGN observations with KVN and KaVA. KaVA is the combined array of the Korean VLBI network (KVN) and VLBI Exploration of Radio Astronomy (VERA). These include KaVA monitoring of M87, Sgr A* and a few bright blazars and KVN Search for circular polarized Blazars. Furthermore, we will present our future plan of monitoring observation of Sgr A* and M87 with KaVA and Low Radio Power AGN multi frequency polarization survey with KVN. Because of the largeness of their centralsuper-massive black holes, we select them as top-priority sources of our key science program (KSP). The main science goals of the KaVA KSP are (1) mapping the velocity field of the M87 jet and testing magnetically-driven-jet paradigm, and (2) obtaining tightest constraints on physical properties of radio emitting region in Sgr A. High sensitivity achieved through simultaneous multifrequency phase referencing technique of KVN will allow us to explore Low Radio Power AGN cores which build majority of AGNs and therefore are important for undestanding the evolution of AGNs and of their hosts.

  • Breeding bird surveys provide the reference information for understanding bird community structure and function in the ecosystem and conserving biodiversity. Recent rapid change of biodiversity due to climate change and other factors has made it necessary to utilize acoustic sensors for accuracy and spatial expansion of forest bird survey data and for time-series monitoring of forest birds. The objective of this study is to investigate the possibility of using acoustic recording sensor to evaluate the diversity of forest birds at breeding season by comparing and analyzing the recorded data of bird songs and field bird survey data. We conducted the site survey and recording in 186 points in 48 areas of 4 regions of Gombaeryeong and Jochimryeong around Jeombongsan Mountain and Jugryeong and Gochiryeong around Sobaeksan Mountain from May 2nd to 16th in 2013. The analysis of the correlation between the recording result and Bird Community Index based on the field survey showed that the number of bird species, population, and the number of bird songs by recording was significantly correlated to the number of species and population by field survey. Moreover, the number of bird species and the number of bird songs by recording showed a significant correlation to species diversity and species richness but no or low significant correlation to species evenness by the field study (observation and listing in parallel). As a result, it was possible to check species composition and species diversity of bird communities by analyzing acoustic recording data on the field. The acoustic recordings of bird songs in the breeding period were more reliable than the non-breeding period in the correlation of recording result and species diversity and for utilization.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the change in vegetation structure of a complementary forest through monitoring a natural complementary village forest. Because the most complementary village forests are located in the Jinan of all counties of South Korea, the naturally-managed Seochon complementary village forest of Jinan county was selected for monitoring the changes. In this study, it was found that Seochon Village, which was formed in the late 1800s as a refuge by Catholic believers, began to evolve and develop other parts of the forest for refugee purposes but that the forest around the stream's mouth remained intact and was conserved. The vegetational survey for monitoring was performed in 2002, 2007 and 2016. In field survey, D(Dominent degree) and S(Sociability degree) were measured by Brown-Blanquet's method. This study monitored the change of species richness and species composition and layer structure through an analysis of the field survey. As a result, it was found that the structure and function of the complementary village forest has been improved through reduced human disturbance. It was also found that a multi-layer structure has been more stable, species richness has been increased, and quality of species composition has been improved through natural succession.

  • In recent years, attention on the inhabitation environments of animals and plants which coexist with humans is growing more and more, and relevant research is being activated. In habitats of rivers, a lot of factors are interacting, even among them, some elements especially such hydraulic factors as water velocity and water depth, and such geological shapes as gravels, sand and mud are being considered as primary elements. In this study, various field investigations are carried out to determine the relationship between the river habitats of fishes and hydraulic primary elements using high-tech equipments. Furthermore numerical experiments to classify such habitats according to topographical spaces are carried out. In detail, hydraulic field investigations performed in this study can be summarized as topographical survey, discharge measurement, water level fluctuation monitoring and so on. In numerical experiments, the RMA2 model of the commercial program, Surface-Water Modeling System (SMS), which is widely used in conducting a two-dimensional analysis of the flow behavior of a river is utilized. In conclusion, as a result of field investigation, the relationship between water velocity and water depth is obtained. And the relationship between water velocity and water temperature is identified, too. Finally, using above obtained results, the inhabitation environment was classified into Riffle, Glide, Run, Pool, and E.D.Z according to the relationship between water velocity and water depth.

  • The operating environments of factories and manufacturing units have changed dramatically due to globalization, population, and customization. The existing factories are converted into smart units using information and communications technology (ICT). These smart factories can produce, control, repair, and manage themselves. The manufacturing processes are efficiently optimized using the monitoring and analysis methods of ICT. In this experimental study, we carried out a survey on the system solution providers and consumer companies to determine the field conditions and requirements necessary for assembling a smart factory. Using the results of this survey, we effectively devised smart factory solutions and implemented them on the existing conditions in various factories.

  • An in-situ four-electrode contact resistivity probe system was designed, and field-tested in submarine sediments. Seismic survey was also performed to support and compare the results of electric survey. The probe was designed to be driven to selected depths below the seafloor using a Vibracore system. The four insulated electrodes were, spaced equidistant across the wedge, were extended beyond the probe tip to minimize effects of sediment disturbance by the wedge insertion. In-situ measurements of resistivity were recorded on board by precision electronic equipment consisting of signal generators and processors, and by temperature- monitoring systems. Overall limits of uncertainty at respective depths below the seafloor are up to ±10% of the measured values. Best estimates of conductivity are considered to be ±3 percent of the reported values. Resistivity measurements were made at six sites in carbonate sediments to a maximum depth of penetration of about 5 m. Average values of conductivity range between 0.88 and 1.21 mho/m. The results show the seabed is composed of alternating layers of relatively high-conductivity material (0.8 to 1.4 mho/m) in thicknesses of more or less one meter and layers about 30 cm thick having relatively low conductivities (0.4 to 0.8 mho/m).

  • We intend to increase in efficiency of the topographic monitoring of seabed or riverbed by combined with DGPS, RTK GPS and echo sounder. For this study, we defined the error correction of the echo sounder with the experiment of water tank, which is considered the characteristic of estuary riverbed and then we developed the s/w for 3-dimensional monitoring of estuary riverbed and applied the s/w to field test and improved the various problems. On analyzing topography of estuary riverbed by combined GPS with echo sounder, the draught error which is yielded to change of length from the water surface by the movement of survey vessel to the end of the transducer was eliminated by geometrical rearrangement and we defined the correction formula, z = BM+ SAH- $DBR_{(i)}$ - DRT - ED. The sounding error about the echo sounder and characteristic of estuary riverbed was found by understanding the relation of average diameter and residual error and we defined correction formula, Y= -0.00474*In(X) -0.0045 by the regression analysis. and then we verified applicability of correction formula.

  • The purpose of this study is to monitor the long-term vegetation change of the village complementary forest after restoration. Based on the monitoring in 2010, six years after the restoration project in 2004, the monitoring of the complementary forest in Dubang village in 2019 after 9 years was conducted. This study identifies the change of species diversity and structure, growth, vegetation coverage, structural quality etc. and succession through long-term monitoring. For this, field survey was conducted in 2003 and 2010, 2019. The results demonstrate significant increase of species diversity and multi-layer structure and progress of natural succession. Overall, Part I is considered to be a quasi-natural complementary village forest, which has a natural balance between natural vegetation that have remained in nature for a long time and anthropogenic vegetation, revealing the coexistence of nature and humanity. It means ecological structure and function have improved. Part II should be restored to the lost part and adaptive management rather than excessive management should be carried out to leave natural succession.

  • The paper studies in the wide-angle lens and distortion tendency and employs the correction techniques suitable to the fish-eye lens using the existing photographic survey methods. After carrying out the calibration of the the fish-eye lens, we calculated the correction parameters, and then developed the method that convert the original image-point to new image-point correcting distortion. The objectives of suggested calibration method in this paper are to calibrate the image of the the fish-eye lens used in the computer-vision and the control-instrumentation field widely. The proposed technique expects to improve the accuracy of the image of the fish-eye lens in the indoor tracking and monitoring field. Also the referenced cross point auto-extraction program is embodied for improving efficiency of the lens correction techniques. Consequently, this calibration method would be applied to the automated distorting correction method on not only the fish-eye lens also general lens.
