  • Colour tone, lustre, surface roughness of fabrics are very important factors in pursue of the beauty of external appearance, namely aesthetic appearance, and the dynamic functionality of fabric used to clothe the human body. Drape is one of many factors that influence the aesthetic appearance of fabric and has an outstanding effect on the formal beauty of fabric. For this reason, the measurement and understanding of drape is required to specify the performance of fabric used in clothing. (omitted)

  • The vibration behavior of glass-fabric reinforced plastic(GFRP) composite beams subjected to various transverse impacts has been investigated as a function of fiber orientation and void fraction. Theoretical results of resonant frequency damping coefficient and modal amplitude dispersion using the Euler-beam theory were obtained along with the finite element analysis which were compared with experimental ones Consequently it was shown that the transverse vibration characteristics were largely affected by fiber orientation and void fraction.

  • Anionic water dispersible copolyesters were synthesized by the polycon-densation of dimethyl isophathalate/5-sodium sulfo dimethyl isophathalate with ethylene glycol/diethylene glycol. Structrual analyses such as NMR, Irm WAXD analyses were done and copolyesters were found to be correctly synthesized. Relation between feed ratio and composition ratio of EG/DEG in copolyesters was confirmed by NMR analysis. Solubility test was done to find out optimum conditon of DMS feed ration of 10 mol% in dimethyl esters. Water resistance of copolyesters decreased with the increase of DMS or DEG molar feed ratio.

  • 직물은 유연하여 외력에 의해 쉽게 굽힘, 비틀림 등의 변형이 일어난다. 이러한 특성 중 직물의 굽힘은 태, 봉제성, 드레이프성 등의 중요 인자로서 지금까지 여러 연구들이 직물의 구조에 관련하여 굽힘강성을 분석하려는 시도가 계속되어 왔다. 이러한 연구의 최초의 시도로서 1930년대 Peirce가 직물을 선형탄성체로 가정한 후 외팔보법을 적용시켜 굽힘길이로 굽힘강성을 나타내었으며[l] 현재까지도 이 시험법이 시행되어 오고 있다. (중략)

  • Investigation has been carried out on the physical properties of several cotton rovings in various drafting conditions, such as twist, draft ratio and roller gauge. Drafting force and tensile strength were measured and analyzed by the statistical method like 3 factorial design. The correlations between drafting force and tensile strength were also examined. It was known that all factors effected on the drafting force and tensile strength of rovings. But the linear and quadratic effect of factors were found different results.

  • We present the analysis of phase-shifted fiber Bragg gratings by coupled-mode equations. The transmission is expressed as that of a Fabry-Perot resonator with complex reflectance and complex transmittance. The transmission spectrum, the effective cavity length, and the behaviors with different phase-shifts are investigated. A very flattered transmission peak is obtained by introducing three phase-shifts in a grating.

  • Unit cell analyses were peformed to study the engineering properties of satin weave textile composites. Two 5-harness satin weave layers with fiber tow shifts were modeled by unit cells and repeating boundary conditions were applied at the outer surface of the unit cells. Multi-field macroelements were employed to consider the microstructure details and to effectively reduce computer memory requirements. Preliminary results indicated that the engineering properties of 5-harness satin weave textile composites can vary significantly according to the manner how the adjacent fiber tows were arranged in stacking.

  • Mechanical and physical properties of wood fiber for the reinforcement of thin-sheet cement products were investigated. The slurry-dewatering method followed by pressing was used to manufacture the products. Mechanical and physical properties of wood fiber reinforced cement composites were assessed with flexural strength, density, and water absorption. The results obtained in this study were analyzed statistically using the analysis of variance in order to derive statistically reliable conclusions.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the interface debonding failure on RC beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheet(CFS). The behavior of damaged RC beams strengthened with CFS is analytically investigated using both linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) approach and the finite element method. This study includes the investigation of the separation mode by interface fracture of the strengthening materials due to the interfacial shear and normal stresses.

  • 컴퓨터의 발달에 따라 다른 공업 분야와 마찬가지로 섬유 공업의 많은 부분에서 자동화가 이루어지고 있고, 이에 관련된 여러 연구도 진행되고 있는 가운데 직물의 분해 설계 분야에 있어서는 아직 대부분 수작업이 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 수작업은 많은 시간이 걸리고 측정 방법이나 측정자의 숙련도에 따라 결과가 차이나는 단점이 있다. 현재까지 직물의 화상분석에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어졌고, 실제값과 5%내외의 오차를 보이는 단계까지 이르렀다. (중략)
