The paper investigates a novel detector receiver with Kalman channel information estimator and iterative channel response equalization for MIMO (multi-input multi-output) OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) communication systems in fast multipath fading environments. The performances of the existing linear equalizers (LE) are not good enough over most fast fading multipath channels. The existing adaptive equalizer with decision feedback structure (ADFE) can improve the performance of LE. But error-propagation effect seriously degrades the system performance of the ADFE, especially when operated in fast multipath fading environments. By considering the Kalman channel impulse response estimation for the fast fading multipath channels based on CE-BEM (complex exponential basis expansion) model, the paper proposes the iterative receiver with soft decision feedback equalization (SDFE) structure in the fast multipath fading environments. The proposed SDFE detector receiver combats the error-propagation effect for fast multipath fading channels and outperform the existing LE and ADFE. We demonstrate several simulations to confirm the ability of the proposed iterative receiver over the existing receivers.
Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS), which has the advantages of a substructure pseudo-dynamic test, is widely used to investigate the rate-dependent mechanical response of structures under earthquake excitation. However, time delay in RTHS can cause inaccurate results and experimental instabilities. Thus, this study proposes a model-based adaptive control strategy using a Kalman filter (KF) to minimize the time delay and improve RTHS stability and accuracy. In this method, the adaptive control strategy consists of three parts-a feedforward controller based on the discrete inverse model of a servohydraulic actuator and physical specimen, a parameter estimator using the KF, and a feedback controller. The KF with the feedforward controller can significantly reduce the variable time delay due to its fast convergence and high sensitivity to the error between the desired displacement and the measured one. The feedback control can remedy the residual time delay and minimize the method's dependence on the inverse model, thereby improving the robustness of the proposed control method. The tracking performance and parametric studies are conducted using the benchmark problem in RTHS. The results reveal that better tracking performance can be obtained, and the KF's initial settings have limited influence on the proposed strategy. Virtual RTHSs are conducted with linear and nonlinear physical substructures, respectively, and the results indicate brilliant tracking performance and superb robustness of the proposed method.

In many current wireless packet data system, the short-burst transmissions are used, and training overhead is very significant for such short burst formats. So, the availability of the short training sequence and the fast converging algorithm is essential in the adaptive equalizer. In this paper, the new equalizer algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of a MTLMS (multiple-training least mean square) based DFE (decision feedback equalizer)using the short training sequence. In the proposed method, the output of the DFE is fed back to the LMS (least mean square) based adaptive DEF loop iteratively and used as an extended training sequence. Instead of the block operation using ML (maximum likelihood) estimator, the low-complexity adaptive LMS operation is used for overall processing. Simulation results show that the perfonnance of the proposed equalizer is improved with a linear computational increase as the iterations parameter in creases and can give the more robustness to the time-varying fading.

In this paper, a novel estimation technique for a robust adaptive control scheme is presented for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with a general set of uncertainty. For a class of introduced more extended semi-strict feedback forms which generalize the systems studied in recent years, a novel estimation technique is proposed to estimate the states of the fully nonlinear unmodeled dynamics without stringent conditions. With the introduction of powerful functions, the estimation error can be tuned to a desired small region around the origin via the estimator parameters. In addition, with some effective functions, a modified adaptive backstepping for dynamic uncertainties is presented to drive the output to an arbitrarily small region around the origin by an appropriate choice of the design parameters. With our proposed schemes, we can remove or relax the assumptions of the existing results.
This paper describes the vector control system estimates rotor speed based on MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive Control) and this estimate is used for speed feedback control. The stability of speed estimator is proved on the basis of hyperstability theory. In order to improve the performance of speed control, the load torque is estimated by load torque observer and speed controller compensates this estimate value. Thus the robust vector control system against load torque disturbance is constructed.

A method for actively minimizing dynamic reaction forces in a flexible structure subject to persistent excitations is presented. One difficulty with the method, however, is that forces and moments do not converge as quickly as displacements in mathematical discretization of continuous systems, so a controller based on a truncated model of a continuous system can produce poor results. A technique using residual flexibility matrix is presented for correcting the truncated force representation. A controller designed for reaction force minimization, using the residual flexibility matrix, is applied to a model of a flexible structure, and the results are presented. Implications of various reaction force penalty combinations on the resulting control performance are also discussed.
For large-scale systems which are composed of interconnections of many lower-dimensional subsystems, decentralized control is preferable since it can alleviate the computational burden, avoid communication between different subsystems, and make the control more feasible and simpler. A power system is such a large-scale system where generators are interconnected through transmission lines. Decentralized control is therefore considered for power systems. In this paper, a robust decentralized excitation control scheme for interactions is proposed to enhance the transient stability of multimachine power systems. First we employ a DFL(Direct Feedback Linearization) compensator to rancel most of the nonlinearities; however, the resulting model still contains nonlinear interconnections. Therefore, we design a robust controller in order to deal with Interconnection terms. In this procedure, an upper bound of interconnection terms is estimated by an estimator. The resulting adaptive scheme guarantees the uniform ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop dynamic systems in the presence of the uncertainties.

This paper considers a robust adaptive stabilization problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems which include an unknown virtual control coefficient, an unknown constant parameter, and a time-varying disturbance whose bound is unknown, We propose a new estimator for an un-known virtual control coefficient and present a robust adaptive backstepping design procedure which results in a smooth state feedback control law, a new two-dimensional parameter update law, and a $C^1$ Lyapunov function which is positive definite and proper.

The objective of levitation control design is to stabilize a levitation system, or obtain certain transient response, bandwidth, and steady state error. An air gap signal from the each corner is important parameter to design levitation controller. A levitation controller using gap signals with measurement delay time can not make a expected performance. In this paper, a new air gap estimator to improve the performance of levitation controller is proposed. The estimated gap signal which has little measurement delay time is used as a feedback value in the levitation controller.

This paper proposed a speed estimator using MRAC(Model Reference Adaptive Control) for sensorless vector control. It is robust for parameter variation and the estimated speed is used as feedback in a vector control system. Computer simulation is presented to confirm the theoretical analysis.
