  • It is well known that one can easily design a high-gain adaptive output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems which satisfy a certain condition so called output feedback exponential passivity (OFEP). The designed high gain adaptive controller has simple structure and high robustness with regard to bounded disterbances and unknown order of the controlled system. However, from the viewpoint of practical application, it is important to consider a robust control scheme for controlled systems for which some of the assumptions of output feedback stabilization are not valid. In this paper, we deal with a design problem of the robust high-gain adaptive output feedback control for the OFEP nonlinear systems with uncertain nonlinearities and/or disturbances.

  • This paper presents a scheme for state observer-based stabilization control of inverted pendulum systems. The feedback gain matrices of both the state feedback controller and the state observer are obtained by a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) such that the given performances indices are minimized.

  • In this paper, we present a global adaptive output feedback control scheme for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems to which adaptive observer backstepping method may not be applicable directly. The allowed output feedback structure includes quadratic and multiplicative dependency of unmeasured states. Our novel design technique employs a change of coordinates and adaptive backstepping. With these proposed tools, we can remove linear and quadratic dependence on the unmeasured states in the state equation. Also, the multiplication of the two unmeasured states can be eliminated ...

  • This paper proposes an adaptive control scheme for an autopilot design of Relaxed-Static-Stability(RSS) Missiles with saturating actuator. The feedback linearization controller eliminates nonlinear terms in RSS missile dynamics and makes the entire system linear. But modeling errors, disturbances and the nonlinear mismatch due to input constraints exert a bad influence on the performance of the feedback linearization controller Thus, first, we derive a parametric affine uncertainty model with modeling errors and disturbances. Then an adaptive control law with anti-windup scheme is developed, where the bounds of uncertainties are estimated with adaptive laws. The proposed adaptive controller can remove the bad effects of uncertainties, of disturbances, and of saturating actuator ...

  • Systematical robust stability analysis and design scheme for the feedback linearization control systems via fuzzy modeling are proposed. It is considered that uncertainty and disturbances are included in the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models representing the nonlinear plants. Robust stability of the closed system is analyzed by casting the systems into the diagonal norm bounded linear differential inclusions and by converting the analysis and design problems into the linear matrix inequality optimization, a numerical method for finding the maximum stable ranges of the fuzzy feedback linearization control gains is also proposed. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, the robust stability analysis and control design examples are given.

  • A sueueing model is developed and analyzed to evaluate the performance of a local and a remote destination of one multicast connection subject to a simple two-level(binary) feedback-based adaptive rate control scheme. The reate control scheme is a simple extension of the one for point-to-point case. Individual cell loss probabilities at the local and remote destinations are obtained to study the fairness of the adaptive rate control scheme. Numerical results show that this simple adaptive rate control scheme, which is fair when it is applied to a multicast connection consisting of destinations with equal propagation delays, bears bias against remote destination.

  • This paper analyzes the effectiveness of minimizing vibration and sound transmission on/through a thin rectangular plate by both feedback control and hybrid control which combines adaptive feedforward control with a feedback loop. An experimental system identification technique using the matrix-fractional curve-fitting of the frequency response data is introduced for complex shaped structures. This identification technique reduces the model order o the MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) system which simplifies the practical implementation. The adaptive feedforward control uses a Multiple filtered-x LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm and the feedback control uses a multivariable digital LQG(Linear Quadratic Gaussian) algorithm. Experimental results show that an effective reduction of sound transmission is achieved by the hybrid control scheme when both vibration and noise measurement signals are incorporated in the controller.

  • Nonlinear feedback control scheme for reactive distillation column has been proposed. The proposed control scheme is derived in the framework of Nonlinear Internal Model Control. The product compositions and liquid and vapor flow rates in sections of the reactive distillation column are estimated from selected tray temperature measurements by an observer. The control scheme is applied to example reactive distillation column in which two products are produced in a single column and the reversible reaction A + B = C + D occurs. The relative volatilities are favorable for reactive distillation so that the reactants are intermediated boilers between the light product C and the heavy product D. Ideal physical properties, kinetics and ...

  • In this paper, we propose a generalized disturbance torque suppression control scheme of servo motors for missile fin actuators. Our controller consists of both a model based feed-forward controller and a stabilizing feedback controller. The feed-forward controller is designed such that the output of nominal plant tracks perfectly the reference position command with a desired dynamic characteristics. The feedback controller stabilizes the overall closed loop system. Furthermore, the feedback controller contains a free function that can be chosen arbitrary. The free function can be designed so as to achieve both the suppression of disturbances and the robustness to model uncertainties. In order to illuminate the superior performance of our control scheme to the conventional ones, we present some simulation results.

  • The equipment of industrial robot in manufacturing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using OLPS. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not require the precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.
