  • From May 1965 to December 1990, 78 patients with chest wall tumors were operated on. The mean age of the patients was 31.5 years with 50 male and 28 female patients. Forty-nine cases[62.8%] were developed at bony or cartilaginous wall and 29 cases[37.2%] at soft tissue of chest wall. Thirty-two of them[41.0%] were malignant, either primary or metastatic, and 46 tumors[59.0%] were histologically benign. For 55 patients who were operated on since 1982, 6 surgical biopsies. 39 tumor excisions, and 11 wide excisions with chest wall reconstruction were done. Preoperative factors favoring diagnosis of malignant neoplasm were; 1] old-aged male patient, 2] bone or cartilaginous tumors, 3] involvement of multiple ribs, 4] complaint of pain, 5] large size on palpation[larger than 4cm]. With proper diagnosis and management plan, we think, operations of chest wall tumors can give good results.

  • The argument about enlarging or limiting the function of the Korea Maritime Police. Agency (KMPA) has been and will be repeated. In this paper, the author highlights the internal and external issues facing KMPA, stemming partly from deficiencies of its struggles for advancement of the organization and partly from shortcomings of political support far it. And he urges KMPA to change the organizational culture for maintaining its identity and characteristics as a lead maritime agency by practising a scientific management system for maximizing cost-effectiveness of its administrative resources. In addition, he also suggests that KMPA adopt the Total Quality Management System for quality improvements in services and greater efficiency in its organizational structure to meet the future competition in the changing political and legal environment. he concludes by providing a 6-point vision statement for KMPA from the standpoint of favoring enlarging the function of KMPA.

  • Materials of choice for offshore structures and the marine industry have been increasingly favoring materials that offer high strength-to-weight ratios. One of the most promising families of light-weight materials is titanium alloys, but these do have two potential Achilles' heels: (i) the passive film may not form or may be unstable in low oxygen environments, leading to rapid corrosion; and (ii) titanium is a strong hydride former, making it vulnerable to hydrogen embrittlement (cracking) at high temperatures in low oxygen environments. Unfortunately, such environments exist at deep sea well-heads; temperatures can exceed $120^{\circ}C$, and oxygen levels can drop below 1 ppm. The present study demonstrates the results of investigations into the corrosion behavior of a range of titanium alloys, including newly developed alloys containing rare earth additions for refined microstructure and added strength, in artificial seawater over the temperature range of $25^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. Tests include potentiodynamic polarization, crevice corrosion, and U-bend stress corrosion cracking.

  • We consider transmission over body area networks. Due to the difficulty in assessing an accurate statistical model valid for multiple scenarios, we advocate a system design technique favoring robustness. Our approach, which is based on results in [12] and generalizes them, examines the variation of a performance metric when the nominal statistical distribution of fading is replaced by the worst distribution within a given Kullback-Leibler divergence from it. The sensitivity of the performance metric to the divergence from the nominal distribution can be used as an indication of the design robustness. This concept is applied by evaluating the error probability of binary uncoded modulation and the outage probability-the first parameter is useful to assess system performance with no error-control coding, while the second reflects the performance when a near-optimal code is used. The usefulness of channel coding can be assessed by comparing its robustness with that of uncoded transmission.

  • Cultural practices favoring the crops are one of the excellent weed control measures in upland crops. The primary cultural method for weed-management may include planting of weed-competitive cultivars, proper planting time and spacing, optimum rate and placement of fertilizer, crop rotation, mulching, and timely tillage. However, cultural method must be applied as a part of the program along with all other available means for controlling weeds since this method alone is not adequate. The efficient and economical weed control can only be achieved by combinating cultural, mechanical method that supplement each other into a weed management system. Intelligent selection of weed control, however, presuppose knowledge of the life history and growth requirements of the weed and its interaction with the environment.

  • The present study extends previous research in this area by investigating perceptions of change and reactions to reform efforts by pre-service and practicing secondary school mathematics teachers in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the United States of America. Interviews were used to gather data about school experiences, teaching practices, and planned changes in mathematics programs. Analysis of the interview data supported earlier findings with respect to the well-planned nature of lessons by PRC teachers and the influence of mathematics contents and examination systems in the PRC. Findings also indicated a general agreement among teachers from both countries favoring less lecturing and more discussion and interactive activities. There were contrasts by nationality in descriptions of future teaching, ideal lessons, sources of teaching ideas, and preferences about school mathematics programs.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare understanding of school foodservice management and environmentally friendly agricultural products between urban and rural elementary school children's mothers. Subjects were 400 elementary school parentsliving in Jeonnam. The results are summarized as follows. School foodservice program helped to solve unbalanced diets, develop minds and bodies, and improve eating habits. Mothers showed a higher degree of satisfaction for school foodservice containing environmentally friendly agricultural products. The primary reason for favoring environmentally friendly agricultural products was improvement of health and securing safe foods. The most important parameter of school foodservice management was sanitary control of food materials>sanitary control of foods>sanitary conditions of place for meals>sanitary conditions of cooker>sanitary conditions of tableware. In conclusion, school foodservice should be financially responsible to make policies effective.

  • We experienced a case of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology of breast which showed atypical proliferative lesion. It was very difficult to differentiate this case from malignancy, because of hypercellular smear and many clusters composed of large, atypical ductal cells. However, it showed other features favoring benignancy, such as tendency of cellular cohesiveness, only slightly increased nucleus/cytoplasm ratio and most importantly presence of myoepithelial cells. It's histologic diagnosis was intraductal hyperplasia with atypia. This case indicates that all atypical breast FNA specimen should lead to the suggestion of surgical biopsy for avoiding over- or under-diagnosis.

  • The optimal condition for hydrolysis of oyster was evaluated with proteases using response surface methodology(RSM). Among 11 commerical proteases, APLTM 440 was selected as the suitable protease for producing oyster hydrolysate on the basis of cost per unit enzyme activity. The effect of autolysis on degree of hydrolysis in oyster was negligible comparing to that of APL 440 protease treatment. From RSM and ridge analysis, the conditions favoring the highest degree of hydrolysis were pH 9.95, 61.1$^{\circ}C$, 2.64 hr reaction time, 49.2% substrate, and 0.35% enzyme/substrate ratio. Oyster hydrolysate prepared under optimal conditions shwoed virtually 51.98% of hydrolysis.

  • This study was to describe the process on experiences of self-leading leisure activities and develop a substantive theory that explains lifestyle in middle-aged office workers. The participants were 12 persons who had participated in self-leading leisure activities. Data were collected with in-depth interviews and analyzed by grounded theory in Strauss and Corbin. Through analyzing process, 28 concepts, 14 subcategories, and seven categories were deduced. The periods of process were divided four stages, plateau, the phage of recognition in social duties, the phage of strengthen in competency, and the phage of reconstruct in successful lifestyle. The core category, 'disclosing of self-esteem' incorporated the relationship between and among all categories and explained the process. The findings indicate that self-leading leisure activities helped to their own health and developed their social activities. Therefore, we would consider in developing health promotion program about favoring leisure activities factors for the middle age office worker.
