  • Lighting in a fashion shop has an effect on customers, highlights the products on the shelf, and has become more important. Even though lighting has a significant effect on customers, the studies on fashion shop lighting have primarily focused on how to create lighting which can influence customers' purchase behavior, and their awareness and expectation. On the contrary, it's been hard to find a study on a quantified fashion shop lighting plan considering customer confidence. In a current fashion shop lighting plan, display lighting is planned indiscreetly. Therefore, this study conducted an investigation of the light environment of the current fashion shop and museum exhibits lighting. Through such processes, the possibility of applying fashion store display lighting environments was investigated. Finally, for the assessment of museum exhibitions lighting applying fashion store display lighting environments, a subjective evaluation method using light simulation was proposed.

Creative Idea and an Analysis of Fashion Design on Korean Image through the SCAMPER Technique (SCAMPER에 의한 한국적 이미지의 복식디자인 분석 및 창의적 발상)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the plans, which can creatively utilize Korean images by introducing the SCAMPER technique, one of the techniques used to create ideas in the fashion design process. For the research methods, the case study which collects all the masters' theses relating to the fashion design process applied Korean images for recent 10 years and the literature study through books, masters' theses, academic journals' theses, news articles, and Internet data were done together. As for the result of the study, the level of utilization of Korean images in the researches on Korean fashion designs stayed simple utilization, which used a motif as it is in its original form or changed only the size. Furthermore, of the 39 theses reviewed in the study, 59% of them used less than 3 of the 7 SCAMPER items. Therefore, it could be said that the Korean images are restrictively being used in the fashion design studies. If SCAMPER is to be actively utilized as a design process in the future, it is expected that it will make great contributions to the development of creative Korean fashion design.

  • The purpose of this study is to help understanding of fun image in fashion & pattern to play a guideline's role in the development on fashion designs study. The methods of this study are academic literatures as well as practical study through case studies about actual works. Formative characteristics of fun image in fashion & pattern are summarized amusement, unexpecting, childishness, and incongruity as follows. First, Amusement pursuits pleasure, freedom, vitality of living and getting away from reality, while doing the mind gently. Second, Unexpecting leads to stop a moment by unforeseen circumstances which gives embarrassing. This embarrassing induces new ideas that led to a larger perspective on the will from exhilarating fun of the thrill of driving pleasure on fashion. Third, Childishness shows a pureness and relaxedness by approaching for innocent and naive child's Sights away from the desire required adult social roles. Fourth, Incongruity aim for fresh of fashion through humanism and freedom in mechanized and standardized society Recently fun images have received attention is interpreted that joy, pleasure, enjoyment because fun image gives emotional comfort in uncertainty, dissatisfaction, and rapid changes society.

Utilization Methods & Expressive Characteristics of Shadows in Fashion Photograph (패션 사진에 나타난 그림자의 활용 방식 및 표현 특성)

  • This study views the shadows cast by the light and a subject provides new interpretations rather than it simply being an additive product. Particularly in fashion photograph, light and shadows are often used as tools to convey meaning. Accordingly, this study aims to classify the utilization of the shadow created by light and deriving its expressive characteristics in fashion photograph. To achieve these research aims, literature and case studies were conducted. The results are as follows. First, the shadows were mainly focused on a subject. Secondly, shadows caused by lighting is casted directly into the inside of the main subject in a frame takes a role of omission or emphasis. Third, shadows caused by a second unseen object outside the frame are utilized with the main subject in the frame. Based on these results above, spatial third dimensionality, optical illusion and accentuation were derived as expressive characteristics of the shadow in fashion photograph. As such, in fashion photograph, shadow is an important element for photographers. The variability of the shadow makes it possible for creative changes as its amount, angle and direction can be altered by adjusting the light in accordance with the intention of the artist. Therefore, its utilization methods will be diversified hereafter. Accordingly, it is required to recognize that shadow may be recreated as an independent object in fashion photograph.

  • In a rapidly changing fashion design world, creative ideas are always required. Knowledge has been created as an art, exhibiting a new imagination that surpasses reality, while being visualized from the past. The purpose of this study is to derive types of visualization of knowledge for continuous creation of fashion design. The study consists of literature and empirical studies. ATTA, a creativity evaluation method made by Torrance applied for analyzing of Gucci fashion design collections from 2016-2017. Creativity of the Gucci collection by ATTA evaluation items are that first, a vivid idea was revealed through collection history, myths and animal and plants, second, conceptual incongruity is in the composition of the garment, third, provocative questions are the symbolism of the meaning of the text, fourth, different perspectives derive a new formative beauty through the synthesis of twisted elements, fifth, abstraction is a symbolic expression of animals and plants, sixth, synthesis is a mixture of various materials and techniques by plural inspiration, seventh, context, it is developed as a design accompanied by stories of history and myth and eighth, fantasy is fictitious animals and animals and detail. In addition, formativeness of fashion design by visualization of this knowledge was extracted with contamination, symbolism, enjoyment and fabrication. Visualization of the knowledge is expected to be used as a strategy to attract ongoing ideas for creative fashion designs.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the hair style trend in the respect of fashion trend in 1960s. The study also attempted if there were significant influences to current hair designers and hair styles as beehive, mods hair, short cut. geometric cut, wigs, natural hair, unisex hair. This study is a descriptive study, involving the collection of picture data and examine the art of the 1960's. Because 1960's is a revolutionary decade in the way of living and fashion trend. This study also adopted review of literature and analysis of magazines. 1960's was a period of major street fashion as Mods, Jackie Look, Miniskirt, Pop Art, Op Art Look, Space Look, Hippie Look, Unisex Look. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) A review of literature had shown that little or no studies for an in depth analysis of 1960's fashion trend and hair design. 2) During the sixties, the trend of fashion and hair style were remarkable change in the way of living. 3) There were strong influences hair styles of 1960's until today.

  • Wearable computer focuses on functional aspects of fashion to respond to and satisfy needs for daily availability of ubiquitous environment owing to ever-developing digital technologies. The purpose of this study is to examine in possible developmental direction of wearable computer and thereby explore more promising directions of wearable computer to enhance its adaptability to future advanced ubiquitous environment and also satisfy both esthetical and functional needs. Now the wearable computer can be classified broadly into 3 types in the aspect of functionality, i.e. computer containing 'integratability', 'convertibility' and 'interactability'. Beyond simple portability concepts based on digital devices attached on body, it will be necessary that follow-up studies on wearable computer satisfy needs for enhanced digital functionality to comply with ubiquitous environment as well as emotional needs inherent in clothing. It is expected that possibility of future wearable computer will be extended via collaborative relationships between design and functionality, and should be implemented through possible points of contact among computer, telecommunication, design and fashion. Based on the findings of this study, it is expected that follow-up researches and developments for wearable computer to meet both functionality and esthetical values in the aspect of 'fashion design combined with electronic products' will help assure the variety of fashion designs for wearable computer contributing to better life quality of human in future ubiquitous environment.

The Influence of Fashion Corporate Social Responsibility upon Consumer Purchase Behavior (패션 기업의 사회적 책임 활동이 소비자 구매 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Nowadays, business environment changes with higher consumer demands for corporate social responsibility than before. However, many fashion companies are unaware of such a wave of changing business environment. And they are not so much interested in making any investment or policy for CSR activities. Besides, despite changing environment and consumer demands, there are very few studies dealing with this matter. Thus, this study aimed to find out the proper types of CSR activities for fashion companies. In addition, it also intended to determine potential effects of CSR activities on consumer attitudes and purchase behaviors. The findings are as follows. First, it is found that there are differences in consumers' perceived suitability depending on types of CSR activities of fashion company. Secondly, it is found that the suitability of CSR activities of fashion companies has positive effects on consumer attitudes to fashion companies. Thirdly, the more favorable consumer attitudes to fashion companies owing to their CSR activities are correlated with the higher consumer satisfaction. Fourthly, the more favorable consumer attitudes to fashion companies are also correlated with the higher consumer intention for purchase. Hence, it is required that fashion companies recognize the importance of their CSR activities, and also plan and implement appropriate CSR activities for consumers.

The Status and Educational Background of Displayers in Domestic Fashion Industry (국내 패션업체 디스플레이어의 지위와 교육적 배경)

  • In viewpoint of visual merchandising, display is recognized as important means of expressing fashion as well as essential factor of stimulating customers' interest in purchase. However, visual merchandising is relatively new area and the studies on specialized display personnels are limited. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the status and educational background of displayers in domestic fashion industry. For this study, 72 display personnels working in 51 fashion brands were interviewed. As results, it was found that most of displayers were consisted of single women in the late twenties. And the main part of display work was performed outside office hours which brought out extension of working time. The displayers had relatively high educational background graduated mostly from the majors related to display such as clothing and applied arts. However, it was noted that new curriculum of these majors needs to be developed in order to provide the courses with more on-hand practices. In general, optimistic attitudes were significantly shown by the interviewees that the importance of display is increasingly recognized in the domestic fashion industry and therefore the prospect of display found to be expected as prosperous.

An Analysis of the Fashion Brand Application (패션 브랜드 애플리케이션 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify fashion brand app types through current fashion brand app releases. To this end, this study used Internet Web, articles, newspapers, and existing studies on brand applications as well as the data that were analyzed after downloading the relevant brand app. Firstly, this study aimed to analyze rapidly growing smartphone market and brand app market situations and look into brand app's own characteristics from the corporate marketing perspective. In addition, the study divided the types into a basic information type and an additional information type by analyzing functions of 30 fashion brand apps. As the result, the basic information type contains product info, store info, fashion info, and coordination info. The additional information type contains entertainment, hobbies, life info, mutual experiences, and sharing services. According to the divided fashion brand app types, the goals of companies also can be divided as three. Firstly, the aim is to expand sales, secondly to improve brand awareness, and lastly to build customer relationship. Consequently, companies will have to select brand app types suitable for their goals and provide to consumers.
