This study aims to clarify the asset evaluation attributes of imported brands exclusively by department stores based on qualitative study. For the qualitative research, hands-on staff of the branch office who had at least 5 years experience in PB-related positions at one of the four domestic department stores(Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai, Galleria), and at least 20 years old adults who had purchased imported brand items exclusively by a certain department store(Shinsegae, Lotte) were included. The asset evaluation attributes of department store-exclusively imported brands were drawn up through the one-to-one in-depth interview method. As a result of qualitative study on the asset evaluation attributes of department store-exclusive importation brands, it turned out that there were 4 factors in view of business entity - stability, profitability, growth potential, and relationship, and that there were 6 factors in view of consumers - product quality, recognition, country of origin, image, preference, and reliability. In comparison with the existing preliminary study, it was notable that relationship in view of business entity, and country of origin in view of consumers were added to the asset elements.

This study predicted consumer approach/avoidance behavior through consumer emotional experiences and examined the moderating effect of perceived surprises in the context of digital signage in store environments. A self-administered questionnaire consisted of consumer emotional experience (e.g., pleasure, arousal, and dominance), approach-avoidance behavior and perceived surprise by digital signage. A total of 278 usable responses were obtained from consumers who experienced digital signage at fashion retail stores. The findings support the Mehrabian-Russell model in the context of digital signage. Approach behavior was predicted by pleasure and arousal emotional experience, while avoidance behavior was predicted by dominance. The moderating effect of perceived surprise was also indicated in the effect of emotional experience on approach or avoidance behavior. In the high level of perceived surprise, pleasure and arousal had significant effects on approach behavior, whereas dominance had significant effect on avoidance behavior. This study discussed theoretical and managerial implications for creating emotional experiences and developing strategic store management by utilizing new digital technology within the fashion retail environments.

On this research, we classified Korean consumers into several comsumer groups based on the different decision-making process they endorse, and then investigated the difference among these consumer groups in frequency, expenditure, satisfaction in using different types of retail stores. For this research, we have surveyed consumers dwelling in Seoul and in near-Seoul areas in 2004. The following is the summary of the main results. First, 'enjoy shopping' group showed a high expenditure rate in department store shopping and internet shopping, whereas 'impulsive decision' group more frequently visited traditional market places, 'fashion pursuing' group and 'enjoy shopping' group visited department stores more frequently than traditional market places. Second, 'impulsive decision' group assessed that the traditional market place offers better price and quality. Also 'impulsive decision' group and 'enjoy shopping' group assessed positively on the AS provided by department stores, and assessed negatively on the AS provided by internet shopping malls. Finally, 'fashion pursuer' group preferred buying foods from traditional market places, while 'brand seeker' group and 'fashion pursuer' group preferred buying clothes from discount stores. While 'enjoy shopping' group showed a high preference in buying clothes in department stores, 'rational decision-making' group showed a low preference in buying clothes in department stores.
In today's highly unpredictable marketing environment, where the consumer demands and behaviors are continuously and rapidly changing therefore various factors of consumer impulse buying behavior are proving to be challenging for the existing and new business organizations. Shopping has become a relaxing and rejoicing activity for the consumers making impulsive buying as a socially acceptable and common practice. So by taking into account all these aspects, the objective of this study was to understand the factors affecting impulse buying behavior of the consumer. Store atmosphere and fashion involvement were selected as independent variables while consumer impulse buying behavior was taken as dependent variable for this study. Likewise, impulse buying behavior of consumers with different monthly household income was also analyzed in this study. Primary data was collected through a questionnaire from 250 respondents of district Faisalabad, and then it was analyzed by using various statistical techniques. The results indicated a significant positive impact of store atmosphere and fashion involvement on consumer impulse buying behavior. The study also revealed that among consumer groups with different household incomes; at least one group differed from others in impulse buying behavior. These results were consistent with previous literature. These results could provide information to the marketers and retailers for planning and execution of various marketing techniques. Moreover, educators could expand on the findings by developing new studies examining consumer impulse buying behavior.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in consumer clothing shopping orientation and shopping behaviors by the multi-selection of internet and offline stores. The data were collected from 201 men and women in their twenties and the respondents were grouped into three as internet-store users, multi-store users, and offline-store users. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, ANOVA, post-hoc analysis, frequency analysis, and chi-square analysis. The results are as following. First, the clothing shopping orientation was partly different among the groups. Regarding the offline shopping orientation, the groups showed difference in the impulsive orientation, and regarding the online shopping orientation, the groups showed differences in the goal oriented and enjoying orientation. In all the three cases, the internet users showed strongest orientation, and the next were multi-store users and offline-store users. The cause of these results were explained as the familiarity and experience with the channel. Second, the clothing shopping behaviors were also partly different among the groups. The groups showed no differences in the preferred store type and benefits sought, but showed significant difference in the attitude toward the internet shopping. The influence of a marketing mix on the consumer purchasing process is well documented in academic fields; however, studies of when consumers purchase fashion brands or products in terms of the day-of-the-week effect and 10-days-of-the-month effect on various channels to a given brand in practice are limited in the fashion industry. This study empirically describes the purchase timing behavior for athletic shoes using daily sales data from a domestic brand in Korea from January in 2006 to December in 2010. The results show that Saturday and Sunday have significantly higher sales than weekdays. In addition, the first and third 10-days-of-the-month yield a higher sales volume than the second 10-days-of-the-month. The department store's sales volume (compared with discount and franchised stores) was higher in the first 10-days-of-the-month; however, the discount and franchised stores have a higher sales volume in the second 10-days-of-the-month. Three store types have no significant differences in sales volume for the third 10-days-of-the-month. Based on the results, in practice, marketers for a specific domestic brand can develop a new marketing expenditure plan, store supply plan, and cash-in and cash-out plan to maximize profits. This research can introduce constructs such as purchase timing distribution, the day-of-the-week effect, and the ten-days-of-the-month effect for the fashion industry.
