  • This study examines the role of visual merchandising (VMD) in creating effective interior displays for fashion "select shops"(shops that carry a wide selection of brands) amid the recent changes in consumption trends, with consumer needs becoming increasingly individualized and diversified. Fashion select shop interior displays can be categorized as self-service, showcase, counter, and environmental display spaces. Regarding the VMD elements that contribute to effective interior displays, we reached the following conclusions. First, in self-service displays, in order to heighten sales efficacy, display elements should be presented in such a way as to enable customers to select products with ease by themselves. Second, the mere presence of showcase displays was found to be insufficient; if, however, select shops use showcase displays to arrange products according to the flow of customer traffic, enabling the creation of a gentrified atmosphere for products, this may contribute to a differentiated image of brands, heightening perceived product value. Third, in counter displays, having a harmonious arrangement of display and presentation elements promotes sales by inspiring customer confidence. Fourth, regarding environmental displays, it is important for stores to have attractive interior designs and decorations in order to reproduce settings in which products are actually used, as this can inspire interest in products and promote customers' purchasing intention.

The primary source of data has been a collection of visual materials which include snapshots of young men and women in the Japanese street scene starting in the 1990's. To approach the Japanese street fashion comprehensively, I have divided the background of the Japanese fashion into three parts: 1. The birth of various fashion markets like the Dankai junior generation, Hetauma generation and Shinjinrui junior generation. 2. The pursuit of fashion senses like the well-balanced sense of independence and commensalism, uncommon sense and sense of a tassel. 3. A boom in new fashion business types like SPA and select shop. • This study identified the internal motives for the purchase behavior of Korean male consumers in multi-brand fashion stores by conducting in-depth interviews with 8 men in their 20s and 30s. All respondents had significant experience with this type of store. Data were analyzed in an inductive way and compared with Bohemianism to interpret and described the results as a recent phenomenon of men's fashion. The five internal motives were extracted from analysis: the pursuit of freedom of expression, the counter-cultural resistance to department stores and domestic fashion brands, which tend to copy designs from international brands, the pursuit of mobility and adventure for trying to search and wear a new fashion style, the pursuit of pleasure through store experience, and the pursuit of artistic value by considering goods purchased in multi-brand fashion stores as artistic and cultural goods.

  • This case study investigates fashion brands that have entered the pet fashion market. A total of 25 cases were identified and analyzed from three perspectives: 1) product types, size systems, prices, 2) design aspects, fabrics, patterns, styles, and 3) marketing strategies. The study results are as follows. First, the product types of pet fashion are not diverse, and only the sizes of small dogs can be found. However, there is a significant price difference between brands. Second, knitted fabrics with good elasticity are mainly used for pet fashion products, and patterns incorporating their brands are extremely common. The style is casual and sporty. Third, marketing strategies should include a new line within a brand or launch a single specialized brand as a one-shot test for consumer reaction. Additionally, it has been expanded and presented as a family look to meet the needs of the petfam. Further, existing fashion brands and retail-based brands select diverse small-scale dog fashion product brands and expand their operation as a dog lifestyle total selectional shop. Therefore, brands entering the future should consider strategies such as size segmentation, product diversification, and premium price of high-quality materials that help market products such as the expansion or promotion of existing brands.
