  • In this paper, a performance analysis of waveguide broad-wall slot array antenna for millimeter-wave seeker in Ka-band was performed as using near-field measurement. The measurement of slot array antenna was conducted in both far-field and near-field. And the validation of near-field test in millimeter band was confirmed. It was confirmed that the beam pattern characteristics including beam width and side lobe level of the slot array antenna that performed the verification were the same. Differenced in the side lobe level of azimuth and elevation beam pattern were verified to be less than 1dB. Additionally, the new antenna aperture distribution was extracted as using back-projection method modifying the near-field data and then introduced the method conducting performance analysis of array antenna.

  • Building materials are trending toward environmental materials nowadays and the market share of those is growing. So those researches and developments for environmental property are proceeding now. The main properties of environmental products are far infrared emission, negative ion emission, electro magnetic wave shielding, and anti fungus, these products are used with shape of mortar, and spray on the finish material. But There are not much researches for the concrete, main material in construction field, with those functional properties. So in this research we evaluated slump, compressive strength and air content as basic properties for concrete using functional materials of sericite, wood pattern sand stone, carbon black and nanometric silver solution and functional properties like far infrared emission, negative ion emission, electro magnetic wave shielding, and anti fungus. The results were as follows. The most useful material in the functional materials was carbon black. Sericite and nanometric silver solution had a little effect on functional property, so it was difficult to apply to concrete, and wood pattern sand stone had a high functional property but low compressive strength, can be applied to a factory product. Anti fungus of the concrete using nanometric silver solution was not clear but if those specimens were aged in $CO_2$ gas for a long time it might apparent.

  • The FIMS (Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph; also known as SPEAR, Spectroscopy of Plasma Evolution from Astrophysical Radiation) is the primary payload of the STSAT-1, the first Korean science satellite, which was launched in September, 2003. The FIMS performs spectral imaging of diffuse far-ultraviolet emission with the unprecedented wide field of view and the relatively good spectral resolution. We present far-ultraviolet spectral observations of highly ionized interstellar medium including supernova remnants, superbubbles, soft X-ray shadows, and the molecular hydrogen fluorescent emission lines. The FIMS has detected He II, C III, 0 III, O IV, Si IV, O VI, and $H_2$ fluorescent emission lines. The emission lines arise in shocked or thermally heated and in photo-ionized gases. We present an overview of the FIMS instrument and its initial observational results.

  • A press shoe is an element of a machine for squeezing water from wood pulp in the field of manufacturing paper. This is used to compress the pulp enveloped by felt sheet with a large roller. The squeezing farce is made by hydraulic pressure. The press shoe has a mechanism similar to a partial hydrostatic bearing. The pressure profile between press shoe and roller affects their squeezing ability, and partial peak pressure can tear the wet pulp. The curvature of the surface of press shoe varies to reduce the peak pressure and increase the mean pressure simultaneously, Therefore, the prediction of pressure distribution considering partially changed curvature of hydrostatic bearing is very important far designing the press shoe. In this study, the difference formulation of Reynolds equation far partial hydrostatic bearing is derived by direct numerical method and a computer program to calculate the pressure distribution is developed. We investigate the effect of partially changed curvature of bearing surface on the pressure distribution. Other design parameter far hydrostatic bearing such as depth of pocket and relative velocity are also studied.

  • Environment-friendly materials are increasingly used as building construction materials nowadays, and the market share of those is growing. Accordingly, the research and developments in terms of environmental value are progressing steadily now. The main characteristics of environmental products are far-infrared radiation, negative-ion emission, electromagnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial property. These products are often used in mortar and as spray on the finishing material. Nevertheless, there are hardly any research on the functional properties of concrete, the main material in construction field. Thus, we evaluated such basic properties of concrete as slump, compressive strength and air content while using such functional materials as sericite, wood-pattern sandstone, carbon black and nano-metric silver solution to focus on their functional properties like far-infrared radiation, negative ion emission, electro magnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial activity in this research. The results indicated that the most useful material in the functional materials was carbon black. Sericite and nano-metric silver solution had a little effect on the functional property. Moreover, although wood-pattern sandstone had very high functional property, it exhibited too low compressive strength to be applied, to concrete as a factory product. Antimicrobial property of nano-metric silver solution in the concrete was not clear demonstrated, but if these specimens were to be aged in $CO_2$ gas for a long time, it might be apparent.

  • Anomalies in the far-infrared [C II] 158 ${\mu}m$ line emission observed in the central one-kiloparsec regions of spiral galaxies are reviewed. Low far-infrared intensity ratios of the [C II] line to the continuum were observed in the center of the Milky Way, because the heating ratio of the gas to the dust is reduced by the soft interstellar radiation field due to late-type stars in the Galactic bulge. In contrast, such low line-to-continuum ratios were not obtained in the center of the nearby spiral M31, in spite of its bright bulge. A comparison with numerical simulations showed that a typical column density of the neutral interstellar medium between illuminating sources at $hv {\~} 1 eV $ is $N_H {\le}10^{21}\;cm^{-2}$ in the region; the medium is translucent for photons sufficiently energetic to heat the grains but not sufficiently energetic to heat the gas. This interpretation is consistent with the combination of the extremely high [C Il]/CO J = 1-0 line intensity ratios and the low recent star-forming activity in the region; the neutral interstellar medium is not sufficiently opaque to protect the species even against the moderately intense incident UV radiation. The above results were unexpected from classical views of the [C II] emission, which was generally considered to trace intense interstellar UV radiation enhanced by active star formation.

  • This paper focuses on the 1,200-V level reverse conducting-insulated gate bipolar transistor (RC-IGBT). The structure of the RC-IGBT has an n+ collector at the collector terminal. The breakdown voltage, Vth, Vce-sat, and turn-off time, and the electrical characteristics of a field-stop IGBT (FS-IGBT) and RC-IGBT are compared and analyzed using simulations. Based on the results, the RC-IGBT obtained a turn-off time of 320.6 ㎲ and a breakdown voltage of 1,720 V, while the FS-IGBT obtained a turn-off time of 742.2 ㎲ and a breakdown voltage of 1,440 V. Therefore, RC-IGBTs have faster on/off transitions and a higher breakdown voltage, which can reduce the size of the element.

  • As the power demands increases, one of the most important data is inside electric field of equipment in designing of insulators ami insulated wire for EHV distribution line. So far finite element analysis method is widely used to calculate this electric field. However as the shape of insulator becomes complicated, it is difficult in producing the mesh which suitable the shape. Especially, we have many difficulty that produce dense fine mesh only where the electric field is concentrated. Therefore in this paper, we perform the each conditional analysis of electric field using the Maxwell 3D Simulator to recover this defects. And we try to analyze electric field through the conventional 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional analysis in case of salt contamination on the surface of a insulator.
