A theoretical study on the pressure fluctuation induced by a propeller was carried out in this study. The main objective of this study is to analyze the source mechanism of the pressure fluctuation induced by propeller sheet cavitation. To analyze the pressure fluctuation induced by propeller sheet cavitation, modern acoustic theory was applied. Governing equation of pressure fluctuation induced by sheet cavitation was derived using Ffowcs Williams proposed time domain acoustic approaches. Several factors affecting pressure fluctuation were analyzed based on the derived governing equation. Pressure fluctuation result was represented by combined results of the far field term and near field term. Finally, the physical mechanism of pressure fluctuation at the blade rate frequency was analyzed using numerically generated cavitation volume variation.

On the basis of theoretical studies on the effect of the cylinders attached to semi-infinite screens, the tangential sound power-transport parallel to the surface of the attached cylinder is minimized by means of a secondary sound field, which is generated from a part of the attached cylinder. The numerical study shows the possibility of deflecting the incident sound by minimizing the acoustic surface impedance of the upper sections. The acoustical shadow region was more pronounced in both near- and far-field compared to the passive case with rigid surface, i.e. without active control. For a relatively wide frequency range it was possible to enhance shielding effects only with few secondary sources and error microphones. In this paper effects of some control parameters on the actively controlled sound field near the top edge of noise barriers are studied. Results of numerical study and model measurements are shown and discussed.
Global map of solar surface magnetic field, such as the synoptic map or daily synchronic frame, does not tell us real-time information about the far side of the Sun. A deep-learning technique based on Conditional Generative Adversarial Network (cGAN) is used to generate farside magnetograms from EUVI $304{\AA}$ of STEREO spacecrafts by training SDO spacecraft's data pairs of HMI and AIA $304{\AA}$. Farside(or backside) data of daily synchronic frames are replaced by the Ai-generated magnetograms. The new type of data is used to calculate the Potential Field Source Surface (PFSS) model. We compare the results of the global field with observations as well as those of the conventional method. We will discuss advantage and disadvantage of the new method and future works.
The beam patterns of source array and changes in the far-field signatures are compared and analyzed each other in order to identify the seismic capability affected by the misfired source at the multi-channel seismic source array. In the primary pulse amplitude of far-field signature, the 66% of seismic capacity are sustained if approximately 40% of source are misfired among whole gun volume. When the sources with the same distances are misfired at the 154㎐, the beam width of the long- and wide-array which is identical regardless of arraying pattern. The beam width has a tendency to narrow now from 41 to 34 according to increase the volume of misfired source at the long-array beam pattern. Therefore, the source array of small volume are suitable for the shallow seismic survey because of producing adequate beam patterns with narrow beam width.
A numerical model for nuclide migration through fractured rock media has been developed. Nuclide transport with groundwater in rock fissures and the diffusion of nuclides into rock matrix are considered one-dimensionally . In the safety assessment of the repository for radioactive waste, this one-dimensional model by the finite-difference scheme, which enables us not only to use more realistic boundary conditions but also to model the nonhomogeneous rock medium as the multilayered media, can be used effectively with the analytical mode. The solution by the numerical model will be verified analytically, and then extended to the double-layered rock medium transport model.

In analyzing the nano-scale phenomena or behaviors of nano devices or materials, it is often desirable to deal with more atoms than can be treated only with a full atomistic simulation. However, even now, it is advisable to apply the atomistic simulation to the narrow region where the deformation field changes rapidly but to apply the conventional continuum model to the region far from that region. This equivalent continuum model can be formulated by applying the Cauchy-Born rule to the exact atomistic potential as in the quasicontinuum method. To couple the atomistic model with the equivalent continuum model, continuum displacements are conformed to the molecular displacements at the discrete positions of the atoms within the bridging domain. To satisfy the coupling constraints, we apply the Lagrange multiplier method. The continuum model in the bridging model should be applied on the region where the deformation field changes gradually. Then we can make the nodal spacing in the continuum model be much larger than the atomic spacing. In the first step, we generate the atomic-resolution mesh with the nodal spacing equal to the atomic spacing, and then we eliminate the nodal degrees of freedom adaptively using the node deactivation techniques. We eliminate more DOFs as the regions are more far from the atomistic region. Computing time and computational resources can be greatly reduced by the present node deactivation technique in multi scale analysis.

The noise sources from a rotating cylinder were identified to describe the blunt trailing edge noise. Firstly, LES formulation was applied to a non-orthogonal grid system and was tested with three-dimensional cross-flow over a cylinder with a yaw angle. The computed far-field noise showed peaks at Strouhal numbers ranging from 0.135 to 0.165 for the yawed cylinder flow with end-plates placed at both extremes under the yaw angle of $30^{\circ}$ and Reynolds number of $1.15{\times}10^4$. It was observed that the slantwise shedding at angles other than the cylinder yaw angle is intrinsic to inclined cylinder, with the result of shedding angles between $15^{\circ}$ and $31^{\circ}$. To study the trailing-edge wake thickness and unsteady lift-coefficient distribution in the span-wise direction of a rotating fan blade, the flows around rotating cylinder with 1,000 rpm were simulated and the far-field noise was exactly computed using the Ffowcs-Williams and Hawkings equation with quadrupole source term. The incoming velocities and stagnant zones were continuously distributed along the cylinder, and their changes made the Strouhal sheddings to occur at different phases even at almost same Strouhal number.

We have investigated the effect of the quality of 1.3 um distributed feed back laser diode (DFB-LD) on the design of anti-reflection (AR) coatings. Optimal condition of AR coating to prevent internal feedback from both facets and reduce the reflection-induced intensity noise of laser diode was simulated with Macleod Simulator. Coating materials used in this work were ${Ti_3}{O_5}$ and $SiO_2$, of which design thickness were 105 nm and 165 nm, respectively. AR coating films were deposited by Ion-Assisted Deposition system. The electrical and optical properties of 1.3 um laser diode were characterized by Bar tester and Chip tester. Threshold current and slop-efficiency of DFB-LD were 27.56 mA 0.302 W/A. Far field pattern and wavelength of DFB-LD were $22.3^{\circ}(Horizontal){\times}24.4^{\circ}$ (Vertical), 1313.8 nm, respectively.
A penalized VIC method offers an efficient hybrid particle-mesh algorithm to simulate an incompressible viscous flow passing a solid body in an infinite domain. In this manner, the computational domain needs to be restricted to a relatively small region to reduce computational cost which would be very high in case of using a large domain. In this paper, we present how to dispose of far-field particles to avoid an unnecessarily large computational domain. The present approach constraints expansion of the domain and thus prevents the incremental computational cost. To validate the numerical approach, a flow around an impulsively started sphere was simulated for Reynolds numbers of 100 and 1000.
We present a theoretical analysis of Gaussian beam propagation in nonlinear Kerr media by using aberration-free approximation and Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral and obtain a simple analytic formular for Z-scan characteristics. Z-scan experiments are carried out on amorphous $As_2S_3$ thin film and compared with the theory developed, showing good agreement. The sign and the value of ${\gamma}$ have been measured at 633 nm to be $+8.65{\times}10^{-6}\textrm{cm}^2/W$. We also measured the far-field intensity profiles, which confirm again self-focusing effect.
