  • Baby boomers are often defined by their support of their parents and their devotion to their children's educational success by providing financial and emotional aids. Now, 7.12 million baby boomers in South Korea are retiring, or are about to retire, without any retirement plans. Similar to financial stability, health, and leisure life, social capital is another important element in the quality life after retirement. This is because social capital can function as a potential resource network. Social capital is a source that provides money, information, goods, services, emotional aids, social relational opportunities etc. In the past, family and community provided social capital for the aged. However, the baby boomer generation cannot expect the same. The baby boomers have the task of creating new social capital that can assure their quality of life. Therefore, this study examines cohort characteristics of the baby boomer generation and, based on the examination, seeks an alternative for social capital. The results are as follows: First, social capital from the local community can be an alternative source of caring for the baby boomers in old age. Second, among the social capital of the local community, elderly care supported by a family friendly community is proposed. In addition, baby boomers must become the primary social capital that contributes to a mature civil society rather than a beneficiary of welfare for the aged.

This study investigated the residents community with the residents who lived in the apartments and the future residents who will live in the apartments to investigate the usage of the public spaces and the influence of the space to form housing culture of residents family community. All data were taken from the response of two hundred forty three questionnaire to be gathered during 20th of June through 24th of August in 2003. Data were analyzed with percentages, means, t-test, and variance analysis using SPSS/PC+. Residents in four high-rise mixed-use apartments feels that the public space in the apartments were mainly provided by their convenience of the construction companies not for the residents. Physical conditions of public space in high-rise mixed-use apartments should be environmentally friendly housing space in which nature and human can be coexisted. It also should be high-tech system housing with which SOHO can be operated. And different custom-made spaces which the residents' needs can be satisfying should be provided. The public space should be recommended to be multi-purposed room because the space will be differentiated with the circumstances of the area, the residents' age differences, and the variety of the family's life style. Moreover, the various programs should be supplied to run the public space efficiently.

  • The concepts of interior design work have set forward an aesthetic and functional proposition to be answered by those who design spaces. The available range of suitable materials for interior use appears to be almost inexhaustible in this day and age. Now a day, relatively new fields of study on environmental-friendly interior examine humans'innate affinity for health and explore its implications for architecture and the built environment. A growing field of research suggests that spaces' relationship to aesthetics and environment can either help or hinder their occupants' health and wellness, productivity, and even their creativity. This paper presents several examples of already built apartment houses in practice, and discusses the demand of users of the spaces for health and sustainable environment, deepening the relationship between newly-constructed spaces and the remodeled ones. The considerations to some new and contemporary materials from the aspect of healthy indoor architecture design are presented in this paper. Designers need to rethink the conventional and high-tech interior environment in apartment houses with respect to perceived air quality, material emissions, and odors. The future of interior design is oriented on light shapeable materials which are able to create a unique memorable atmosphere. The primary assignment in accepting recent materials and proceedings is our responsibility to creating proposals, that are mainly safe, hygienic and environmentally proper.

  • The survey was conducted to investigate the perception and purchase behaviors regarding environment-friendly agricultural products (EFAP). 353 questionnaires were collected from college students in Daejeon and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The students recognized EFAP as foods containing less or no agricultural pesticides and chemical fertilizers. More food major students knew the definition of EFAP compared to non-food major students (p<0.05). The students discriminated EFAP based on certificat on label and obtained information about EFAP from TV/home shopping. More non-food major students purchased EFAP than food major students (p<0.001). The main reason for hesitation with EFAP purchases was the high price. However, students purchased EFAP because of their family's safety. Price reduction is the most important factor to promote the consumption of EFAP. Proper education programs are required so that college students can easily purchase EFAP to promote safe and healthy dietary habits.

  • Due to the increasing social participation of women and the decrease in the size of the typical family, childre's environments have become increasingly more important. In fact, children are one of the main groups who use the community environments. However, children as a group have not been considered in the planning of residential neighborhood environments. A child's spiritual, psychological and physical health develops upon their interaction with the surrounding environment. Residential community should therefore be planned in a child-friendly way. The aim of this study is to introduce possible criteria for developing design guidelines for Children-friendly residential environments. The principal objective is to investigate the actual conditions of children's lifestyles in residential environments and the exploration of design guidelines for children. In this study, a small group workshop panel method was used. The subjects were 4 panel groups which was consisted of households with children. Each of the panel included 2 consecutive workshops. In this study, a list of valuable criteria for design guidelines was identified. In addition, the current residential community environment was found to be inadequate to accommodate for children's lifestyles and children had different housing needs according to their ages. In conclusion, the design guidelines should be developed to provide children with developmentally appropriate community environments.

For this study, data were collected from Naver and Daum using the keyword 'ethical consumption' and frequency and matrix data were extracted through Textom, for the period January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018. In addition, a two-way mode network analysis was conducted using the UCINET 6.0 program and visualized using the NetDraw function. The results of text mining show increasing keyword frequency year-on-year, indicating that interest in ethical consumption has grown. The sub-dimensions derived for 2014 and 2015 are fair trade, ethical consumption, eco-friendly products, and cooperatives and for 2016 are fair trade, ethical consumption, eco-friendly products and animal welfare. • This study aims for suggesting an idea to plan the expansion of consuming environmentally friendly chestnuts by statistically analyzing the types and intentions for consumer's purchase of environmentally friendly point of production and export side. For this, the survey was performed on 650 housewives living in Seoul, new metropolitan cities such as Ilsan, Bundang, where is the central place of main consumption. As a result, it is more effective to plan the expansion of consumption as the activity of consumption promotion for environmentally friendly chestnut focused on specific target such as 3~4 members of family and 30~40's age of young housewives having with the academic background of above university graduate, large income of average monthly payment with over 4.5 million won and consumers who have experience to purchase environmentally friendly forest products. In order to achieve this goal, it is require to secure the stabilized dealer for the environmentally friendly forest products as well as to establish the appropriate price reflected by the value and quality of environmentally friendly chestnut which the consumers recognize. It is estimated that this price can be decided on the basis of willingness to pay for the environmentally friendly chestnut from the index which comes from the integrated and concentrated consumers' expectation as this study surveyed.
