This study examined the effects of employees' gender role attitudes, job involvement, and family involvement on their work-family conflicts, work-family facilitation, and utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. Data was collected from 377 full-time married workers from 262 large (more than 300 employees) and 100 small (fewer than 300 employees) private sector companies. The questionnaire's measurements were based on recommendations from the literature review. The questionnaire consisted of the gender role attitude scales, job and family involvement scales, work-family conflict and facilitation scales, and questions pertaining to the employee's utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. The SPSS 12.0 statistical package was used to analyze the collected data. The study found that employees showed more or less egalitarian gender role attitudes and that they were more involved in their family than their job. The employees' responses showed a low rate of utilizing family-friendly policies, but employees from large companies reported a higher utilization of family-friendly policies than those from small companies. There were also gender differences in employees' gender role attitudes, work and family involvement, and utilization of policies. Male workers held more traditional gender role attitudes, had higher levels of job involvement, and had higher rates of utilization of policies than female employees. Meanwhile, employees with children exhibited more traditional gender role attitudes and higher rates of utilization of policies than those without children. Finally, serial hierarchical regression analyses revealed that employees' more egalitarian gender role attitudes and higher job and family involvement predict higher work-family facilitation, while their gender role attitudes and job and family involvement have no significant influence on work-family conflicts. Also, employees from large companies with high job involvement will have significantly higher utilization rates of family-friendly corporate policies.
This study aims to compare the husband's stress, communication, family cohesion and adaptation which contribute to the internal structure of conjugal understanding between families living apart from one another and those living together. The data for analysis was derived from questionnaires. 172 husbands from families living apart and 185 husbands who live with their families. The data was treated by spss pc+ program and the methods of analysis were frequency, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Husband's stress in conjugal understanding in families living apart was higher than those who live with their families. 2. Between the husbands whose families are living apart and those who are living together, there were no significant differences in effort levels to overcome stress, family cohesion, family adaptation and communication needs for conjugal understanding. 3. Husbands who live with their families communicate differently according to the degree of their stress levels. 4. Low stress levels led to high family cohesion and family adaptation in both cases. 5. High communication levels led to high family cohesion and family adaptation in both cases.
The aim of this study was to investigate on characteristics of sociological and demographic population, marital conflicts and expectations to family counselors' cultural competence surrounding factors of cultural adaptation among immigrated women. This study conducted a survey of 236 immigrated women in Kyonggi province, Seoul metropolitan cities, Cholla and Chunchung provinces and Incheon. The results of this study are as follows: First, a relatively few marital conflicts were found, as a whole, while they had the high levels of expectation to family counselors' cultural competence. Second, immigrated women can be clustered as three different types: 'multiplicity type', 'undifferentiated type' and 'adaptation type'. Third, sociological and demographic population characteristics which were subdivided and clustered according to cultural adaptation made the significant difference between each population. Population with multiplicity type out of the above-stated three types accounted for the highest conflict rates, while population with 'adaptation' type accounted for the lowest conflict rates. Lastly, expectations to family counselors' cultural competence made the significant difference among each population. Population with multiplicity type showed the highest expectation levels on expectations to family counselors' cultural competence, while population with undifferentiated type showed the lowest levels.
The purposes of this study was to examine the effects of undergraduate's optimism and family-control on their awareness of caregiving for the elderly. The subjects for this study were 374 undergraduates from 4 universities in G city. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN(ver. 12.0) program, and frequency and percentile, mean and standard deviation, t-test, correlation analysis, multiple regression, and path analysis were utilized. The main findings of the study were as follows. The undergraduate's degree of optimism and family-control, and their awareness of caregiving for the elderly were slightly higher than the average. In addition, the undergraduate's optimism and family-control were differed according to their 'existence and/or nonexistence of religion', and their awareness of caregiving for the elderly was significantly different depending on 'existence and/or nonexistence of religion', and 'existence and/or nonexistence of living together with their grandparents'. It was also found that the undergraduate's awareness of caregiving for the elderly was directly influenced by their family-control, whereas their awareness of caregiving for the elderly was indirectly influenced by their optimism via family-control.
The purpose of this study is to examine a potential association between community factors and the establishment of Local Healthy Family Support Centers (LHFSCs). Community factors were population size, community size, local finance independency, number of workplaces per 1,000 people, number of colleges, political party affiliation of mayor, and political party affiliation of congressman. Data of this study were collected from the census indicators of 222 communities from 2004 to 2014 and analyzed by frequency, mean, geographical information system mapping, and the binary logit analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, LHFSCs are less likely to be established in communities in the provinces of Gangwon, Chungbuk, and Gyeongbuk. Second, the population size was positively related to the establishment of LHFSCs. Third, finance independency was positively associated with the establishment of LHFSCs. Forth, a mayor was more likely to establish LHFSCs if they were affiliated with the ruling conservative political party. However, the establishment of LHFSCs was not affected by other factors such as community scale, number of workplaces per 1,000 people, the number of colleges, and party affiliation of congressman. Thus, the conclusion suggests family policy implications to improve the geographical imbalance of LHFSCs based on the analysis results.
The purpose of this study Is to analyze the homepage contents of an auction site on the Internet. This study collected 459 cases of purchasing and selling notes, and classified them into three types. The finding showed that some of the most frequently-occurring consumer problems are concerned with delivery and return, and sellers manner. On the other hand, consumers' manner is important to sellers. The auction site itself has problems with consultation and its own system.
Poor children are a field of causing of various Issues and become a subject of sympathy, concern and anger, against adult's poor such as sleeper outdoors and unemployed to be made a subject of discussion. This study has theoretically investigated the poverty concept, family trait around poor children. And also for understanding the above status, poverty circumstances have been focused children family and shelter-care children. The conclusions are as follows. First, the family of children head was formed with children under fifteen years of age. It was reported that solo families were 26.4% and living together families with relatives were 64.7%. As status of producing causes, parents death was shown the most rate as 49% and abscondence or missing was 31.9%. Second, In the shelter-care aspect, the highest case is a parents-divorce with 42.5%, while children-head case is just shown 0.5%. Therefore, in a child right viewpoint, it needs more systematical/long-range study on children poverty, and some policies for protecting the poverty-children must be established in social policy.

This program aimed at preparing the pre-service teachers to teach about North Korean family life culture to secondary school students, by promoting the understanding and acceptance of cultural differences between the two Koreas. Based on the literature review, the educational contents were developed to reflect general aspects of North Korean family life. The program was implemented with 35 undergraduate students in a home economics teacher education program. The program consists of 15 units of 150-minute instructional sessions. The first three introductory sessions dealt with the definitions of family life culture and multiculturalism, as well as a historical review of South-North relationship. The following nine sessions were devoted to North Korean family life culture in five different domains: consumption and leisure, family and child-caring, food and dietary life, housing and neighborhood life, and clothing/fashion. During the final two weeks, pre-service teachers conducted mock-teaching. For evaluation, pre- and post-session scores on general teaching efficacy and understanding of cultural differences were compared using paired t-tests. The pre-/post-test results confirmed that the program was successful in promoting the understanding and acceptance of cultural differences between two Koreas of pre-service teachers.
The purpose of this study is to introduce the evolution of corporate family-friendly policies and programs, a recent business issue throughout the world. In addition, this study suggests implications for a corporate reference guide to work-family policies and programs by providing a comparative analysis of the typical stages of development of U.S. corporate family-friendly policies and programs, and by presenting model initiatives of Korean and American family-friendly companies. Just as technological changes at the time of the Industrial Revolution altered the relationship between workers and their work, more recent technological advances have again transformed this relationship, offering the promise of a society in which work demands a smaller portion of the worker's time and permitting the worker more freedom and control over work conditions. These new work arrangements have the promise of producing a new paradigm for work and family, based on which many industrialized nations have developed family-friendly policies already. Family-friendly policies and programs can be grouped into four discernable stages in the evolution of a corporate work-family agenda. According to these stages, most companies in Korea are in the predevelopment stage or stage 1. Development of scales to assess company family-friendliness is needed to create a family-friendly workplace environment, policies, and programs. It is critical that companies have champions who have the vision to step out in kent, and the determination to ensure that the family-friendly programs are solidly grounded. Companies should develop their work-family initiatives as an integral part of a program for managing diversity focusing on needs of women and minority employees.
The purpose of this study is to examine the contents and concept of program for healthy family and provide job opportunity and competency of healthy family supporter. For this research, participants are 51 healthy family supporters as a middle manager. Data were obtained through the survey using a questionnaire developed by the ministry of women and family and headquarter of healthy family support centers in 2007. The research process consists of two parts. One is to suggest their jobs and requirements, the other is to offer their core competency and area for improvement. First, the jobs of healthy family supporters as a middle manager are the generalization of team's work including the planning, management and coordination, training for the staff, and network of social resources. They recognized the planning and management of healthy family support center's goal and course as a strategic job. The requirements for the performance of their duties are having a bachelor's or a master's degree, career more than for 3 years, and a certificate of qualification of healthy family supporters, social worker and family counselor. Second, their competencies are the understanding of education of family life, theory of family counselling, the planning and valuation of program for healthy family, understanding for the variegated family, management of organization, networking with resources, ability of documentation, ability of persuasion and negotiation, management of time, sociality, communication skill, solving the problem, positiveness, cooperative spirit and so on.
