Evaluation of The Seepage Behavior for Reinforced Embankment (보강제체사면의 침투거동평가)

  • To estimate the behavior of reinforced and unreinforced embankment constructed on a impermeable foundation ground, a laboratory model test was performed for two types of soils and water level increasing velocity of a flood period. The experiment models were constructed with slopes of water level is 1.25cm/min, 2.5cm/min each. From model test results, as the slope of reinforced and unreinforced embankment was the slower, the more seepage line rised. In the unreinforced embankment, the rising velocity of water level was the faster, the larger the embankment failure was. And the reinforced embankment with geotextile was the more safe than the unreinforced embankment for seepage force.

  • 21.6" a-Si:H TFT array for direct conversion X-ray detector with 2480 by 3072 pixel is successfully developed. To obtain good X-ray image quality, novel structure, storage on BCB structure, is proposed. The structure reduces the parasitic capacitance of data line, one of the main sources of signal noise. Also, the structure shows higher failure resistance against defects than that of the old design.

  • A signal equipment improvement project for the existing facility ATS to ATP is under construction in Kyung-Bu and Ho-Nam commercial line including 400 rolling stocks. But there was a concern for the interface between KTX OBCS and ATP from the beginning of the project. At present, this is the front burner event. This paper introduces interface checking and predicted failure point between KTX OBCS and ATP improvement system. Through this measure the optimal installation of the ATP will be possible. The study was made under maintenance efficiency including reliability because the KTX signal equipment must qualify the above condition.

  • This paper presents the thermal modeling and analysis of Line power Start Permanent magnet Motor (LSPM). Thermal analysis of electrical machines is important because temperatures that are consistently too high will reduce the life time of machines and may lead to serious failure. Coefficients of convection are calculated according to the types of operating conditions. And computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique is performed in order to predict thermal characteristic. The results are compared to the test results.

  • This paper considers a network restoration algorithm for all-optical WDM networks. As the increasing traffic and transmission speed, any failure on the networks will lead to loss of huge data and disruption of the services. Therefore, a network restoration algorithm is necessary for the high-speed all-optical networks. This paper suggests a distributed restoration algorithm for line or channel level failures under the dynamic rerouting. For the algorithm, some measures for performance evaluation are explicitly derived and simulation studies are exploited to evaluate its usability by SLAM(Simulation Language for Alternative Modeling) II.

  • The salt contamination on the distribution facilities, such as suspension insulator, line post insulator, lightning arrester, COS, is one of the major coastal areas because more than 90% of salt contaminated failure occurs in distribution facilities.   • Stability analysis of the embankment as to water level varation is the most important problem in the safety of the slope because the stress of embankment inside varies as to drawdown of seepage line. Especially when the water level is rapidly drawdown, because the flow direction of the free surface changes the toe of embankment, the factor of safety comes to small, therefore the embankment is dangered. For the purpose of studing these phenomena, the experimental models are built with sand in the laboratory. In the experimental consideration, the falling seepage line and the shape of failure are measured. This paper intends to study the failure slip surface, the relationship between the factor of safety and drawdown velocity, and hydraulic gradient. The results of the experimental study are summarized as follows; 1. Owing to the drawdown of free surface, sliding failure occurred in the upstream fill, the height of failure is 5~10, 9~15, and 13~21(cm) in each model. 2. In consideration of the distribution of pore water pressure Table-5 shows each factor of safety. In the relationship between the drawdown velocity and the factor of factor it's velocity should be limited to 0.21~0.28 (cm/sec), according to each models. In the relationship between the factor of safety and the hydraulic gradient within the upstream slope, it's gradient must be below 0.36~0.43.

  • This paper was performed to study the utility of the SP(small punch) test and the AE(acoustic emission) test in the evaluation of SCC(stress corrosion cracking) susceptibility for parent metal and bond line of HT80 steel-weld joint by SAW(submerged arc welding) with the various pH values. The loading rate used was 3*10$^{-4}$ mm/min and the corrosive environment used was synthetic sea water during the SP test and the AE test. According to the test results, the SCC susceptibility of the parent metal was increased in the order of pH6.0, pH8.2 and pH10.0. On the other hand, the bond line showed almost the same high SCC susceptibility in all pH concentrations. Synthetically, from the results of the SCC susceptibility, the macro- and micro-SEM observation, the microfracture behaviors by AE test and the relationship between SCC susceptibility and displacement at incipient failure, .delta.$_{i.f-AE}$, it can be concluded that the SP test and the AE test are the good test methods to evaluate the SCC susceptibility for parent metal and bond line of the weld joint with the change of environmental factors.
