  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to automatically detect gait's joints. The proposed method classifies gait's types into front gait and flank gait so as to automatically detect gait's joints. And then according to classified types, the proposed applies joint extracting algorithm to input images. Firstly, we split input images into foreground image using difference images of Hue and gray-scale image of input and background one and extract gait's object. The proposed method classifies gaits into front gait and flank gait using ratio of Face's width to torso's width. Then classified gait's type, joints are detected 10 at front gait and detected 7~8 at flank gait. The proposed method is applied to the camera's input and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints.

  • A genetic algorithm was applied to an arc welding process to determine near optimal settings of welding process parameters which produce good weld quality. This method searches for optimal settings of welding parameters through systematic experiments without a model between input and output variables. It has an advantage of being able to find optimal conditions with a fewer number of experiments than conventional full factorial design. A genetic algorithm was applied to optimization of weld bead geometry. In the optimization problem, the input variables were wire feed rate, welding voltage, and welding speed, root opening and the output variables were bead height, bead width, penetration and back bead width. The number of level for each input variable is 8, 16, 8 and 3, respectively. Therefore, according to the conventional full factorial design, in order to find the optimal welding conditions, 3,072 experiments must be performed. The genetic algorithm, however, found the near optimal welding conditions from less than 48 experiments.

  • The purpose of this investigation is experimentally to clarify the machinability and optimum tool geometry on milling of hardened STD11 steel. In the finish process office milling of high hardened STD11 steel by CBN tool, the optimum tool shape is suggested, which can minimize the tool fracture and chipping by impact. It is measured that cutting farce, tool wear and surface roughness generated during single-insert face milling using various geometric CBN tools. It has been found that the optimal chamfer angle of CBN tool is about -$25^{\circ}C$ and the suitable chandler width is 0.2mm. The nose radius of tool is the most excellent at 1.2mm in the viewpoint of tool wear and surface roughness.

  • The number of Ryu Ji Kyung's costumes that have been discovered is small but includes various kinds of coat. These coats have become important clues when trying to determine styles of coat that were present in the mid-17he composition of the costumes found were various, including unlined, lined, padded and quilted variations. Unlined clothes were sewed using broad-stitching, hemming, half backstitching, and backstitching. The unique sewing style of the 17th century was shown in Ryu Ji Kyung's costumes. Seams on the back of one coat were not connected but rather sewed as a whole because of the width of the cloth. There was a more elaborate sewing style on lined clothes than on unlined clothes, alongside the use of selvage on the reverse of the costumes, marking the face not by using other clothes, but by the sewing line. Because of their to kit types, the width of the sleeves, the presence of a Cheolrik string, the ratio of the upper jacket to the bottom skirt, and the width between the armpits and bottom hems in Jungchimak, Ryu Ji Kyung's clothes can be used as exemplary models of mid-17th century clothing.

  • Objectives: No 3D anthropometric analyses have been conducted for Korean children's faces for the purpose of designing respiratory protective devices. The aim of this study was to develop masks against yellow dust and fine particulates, particularly for children in Korea. Methods: This study utilized a 3D scanning method to obtain 16 facial anthropometric data from children, ages of 5 to 13 years old. A total of 144 boys and girls were recruited from the kindergarten, elementary schools and middle schools in Seoul. With facial dimensions obtained, cluster analysis was performed to categorize them into similar facial groups. For each cluster, an optimal mask was designed and manufactured using a 3D printer. In addition, lung function data were obtained from 62 subjects and compared with those of normal adults. The pulmonary physiological results were subsequently used to suggest a test method for mask certification. Results: Facial shapes were classified into tree clusters: small, medium, and large. The face width and length for the first group were small with high nosal protrusion. The face width and length for the second group were the largest among the three clusters. The third group had the largest angle of nose root - gnathion(n-prn-gn). Age was the most significant variable in the facial dimensions. Children's pulmonary physiological capacity was about 60% of adults' capacity. The results of fit test using the prototype masks developed showed very good fits for children. Conclusions: For Korean children, three mask sizes will be sufficient and practical for providing protection against yellow dust and fine particulates. Anthropometric data obtained using digitalized 3D face analysis can be very effective for designing respiratory devices. 3D images can be accurate and easily measured for multiple dimensions, particularly for curved areas of the face. It is imperative to adopt different test methods for certifying respiratory protective devices for children, since their pulmonary physiological capacity is inferior compared with that of adults.

  • The aim of treatment of cleft lip and palate is to correct the cleft and associated problems surgically and thus hide the anomaly so that patients can lead normal lives. This correction involves surgically producing a face that does not attract attention, a vocal apparatus that permits intelligible speech, and a dentition that allows optimal function and esthetics. In neonatal periods, gross distortion of tissues surrounding the cleft requires considerable effort and time due to post operative functional defect and scarring and induces milk feeding problem, malocclusion of deciduous or permanent dentition, congenital missing teeth, skeletal dysplasia. The occurrence of a cleft deformity is a source of considerable shock to the parents of an afflicted baby, and the most appropriate approach is very important things. Thus we tried to analysis of dental arch, shape and size of deformity in cleft patients. The results were obtained as follows. 1. When the cast measurements of UCLP subjects at first visit it was found that the mean length was 9.29mm at the alveolar cleft width, also that was 11.7mm at the anterior width and 14mm at the posterior cleft width. 2. Comparison of UCLP group at first visit and just lip surgery, it was found that the older group showed a insignificant reduction in the width of the cleft in the alveolar, canine, and tuberosity regions. 3. The maxillary casts of the UCLP group at 6 months differ Significantly from those of the at 3 months in both length and width. but there was no statistical difference except anterior ridge length of nonclefted site. 4. Comparison at 6 months and 18 months, there was a greater change in length of the alveolar cleft width, intercanine width, and anterior cleft width. Maxillary arch became wider at both the canine region and intertuberosity region. also posterior anteroposterior length was increased but anterior AP length was decreased from 8.1mm to 7.7mm. There was meaningful increase at intertuberosity length; however, a significant reduction in width t-t'

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to determine the average facial proportions and mandibular movement capacity of 316 first-year dental students who carefully recorded them on each other. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This early exacting clinical experience was closely supervised by the authors in Columbus, Ohio during 1969-70. Five vertical and six horizontal distances were measured on each subject's face. An ala-tragus line and an occlusal line were drawn on the left side of the face to determine if these two lines were parallel. Measurements of mandibular movements involved maximum normal and hinge opening at the incisors and maximum amounts of right, left lateral and protrusive excursions of the mandible. RESULTS. The ala width and distance between the tips of upper right and left canine cusps averaged (35.2 mm and 34.8 mm) but with very large individual variations. The distance between ala to occlusal plane lines was 29.9 mm at the tragus and 31.3 mm near the ala. The angle between orbitale and ala-tragus averaged 13.6 degrees. CONCLUSION. The upper lip length was the most variable and the distance between the pupils was the most stable of the eleven facial measurements. The ala-tragus line and the occlusal plane lines were for all practical purposes parallel. Maximum jaw opening averaged 51.2 mm which was 3.0 times larger than maximal hinge opening of 17.2 mm. The maximum right plus left side jaw excursions (9.2 and 9.4 mm) totaled 18.6 mm, 2.3 times more than the 8.0 mm mean maximum forward protrusion.
