Weibull distribution is a conspicuous distribution known for its accuracy and its usage for wind energy analysis. The two and three parameter Weibull distributions are adopted in this study to fit wind speed data. The daily mean wind speed data of Ennore, Tamil Nadu, India has been used to validate the procedure. The parameters are estimated using maximum likelihood method, least square method and moment method. Four statistical tests namely Root mean square error, R2 test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Anderson-Darling test are employed to inspect the fitness of Weibull probability density functions. The value of shape factor, scale factor, wind speed and wind power are determined at a height of 100m using extrapolation of numerical equations. Also, the value of capacity factor is calculated mathematically. This study provides a way to evaluate feasible locations for wind energy assessment, which can be used at any windy site throughout the world.

The integral equations used in electromagnetic fields theory can be used for scattering problems. We can obtain various characteristics of scatterer. Ie, power pattern, scattered field, by finding current distribution on the scatterer. In this paper, current distribution on polygonal cylinder is obtained using integral equations in 2 dimension. For numerical aualysis, the moment method is used with pulse function as a basis function and integral equation is used with extrapolation method, which saves cpu time.

In this paper, we propose a locally adaptive image restoration method based on nonlinear extrapolation in frequency domain. In general, the conventional method causes ringing artifacts on the object boundary. To solve this problem, we introduce an improved restoration method which considers textures of an image block. In the proposed method, a blurred image is divided into several blocks, and each block is classified into three groups; simple, one edge, and complex blocks according to the contained texture. Depending on the classification result, adaptive nonlinear extrapolation is applied to each block in a blurred image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve higher quality image in both subjective and objective views as compared with the conventional method.
Probabilistic ecological risk assessment (PERA) for deriving ecological protective concentration (EPC) was previously suggested in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Netherland. This study suggested the EPC of cadmium (Cd) based on the PERA to be suitable to Korean aquatic ecosystem. First, we collected reliable ecotoxicity data from reliable data without restriction and reliable data with restrictions. Next, we sorted the ecotoxicity data based on the site-specific locations, exposure duration, and water hardness. To correct toxicity by the water hardness, EU's hardness corrected algorithm was used with slope factor 0.89 and a benchmark of water hardness 100. EPC was calculated according to statistical extrapolation method (SEM), statistical extrapolation $method_{Acute\;to\;chronic\;ratio}$ ($SEM_{ACR}$), and assessment factor method (AFM). As a result, aquatic toxicity data of Cd were collected from 43 acute toxicity data (4 Actinopterygill, 29 Branchiopoda, 1 Polychaeta, 2 Bryozoa, 6 Chlorophyceae, 1 Chanophyceae) and 40 chronic toxicity data (2 Actinopterygill, 23 Branchiopoda, 9 Chlorophyceae, 6 Macrophytes). Because toxicity data of Cd belongs to 4 classes in taxonomical classification, acute and chronic EPC (11.07 ${\mu}g/l$ and 0.034 ${\mu}g/l$, respectively) was calculated according to SEM technique. These values were included in the range of international EPCs. This study would be useful to establish the ecological standard for the protection of aquatic ecosystem in Korea.

The temporal super resolution is a method for increasing the frame rate. Electro-optical sensors are used in various surveillance and reconnaissance weapons systems, and the spatial resolution and temporal resolution of the required electro-optical sensors vary according to the performance requirement of each weapon system. Because most image sensors capture images at 30~60 frames/second, it is necessary to increase the frame rate when the target moves and changes rapidly. This paper proposes a method to increase the frame rate using color channel extrapolation. Using a DMD, one frame of a general camera was adjusted to have different consecutive exposure times for each channel, and the captured image was converted to a single channel image with an increased frame rate. Using the optical flow method, a virtual channel image was generated for each channel, and a single channel image with an increased frame rate was converted to a color channel image. The performance of the proposed temporal super resolution method was confirmed by the simulation.
The completion ('initiation' de facto) of the KASI Orbit Propagator and Estimator (KASIOPEA) has been delayed for several reasons unfortunately. Due to the lack of working staffs and the Division priority rearrangement, the initial plan was dismantled and ignored for many years. However, fundamental researches regarding the essential parts of KASIOPEA has been done by author. The numerical integration module of the KASIOPEA is the most sensitive part in the precision of the final output in general. There is no silver bullet in the numerical integration in an orbit propagation as a non-stiff ODE case. Many numerical integration method like single-step methods, multi-step method, and extrapolation methods have been used in overly populated orbit propagator or estimator. In this study, several popular methods from single-step, multi-step, and extrapolation methods have been tested in numerical accuracy and stability.

The two dimensional problem of a layered tribological system(TiN/Steel) containing a vertical surface breaking crack and subject to rolling contact is considered in this study. Using finite elements and stress extrapolation method, a series of preliminary models are developed. Preliminary results indicate that the extrapolation technique is valid to determine Modes I and II stress intensity factors for cracks. In the case of TiN/Steel medium, KI and KII were determined for variations in crack length, layer thickness, and load location. The results show that KII reaches maximum values when the contact is adjacent to the crack where Mode I stresses are compressive. KII values decrease with decreased crack length and significantly decrease for reduced layer thickness.
By means of past data, taken from the annual catches of anchovy landings in Korea, from the year 1926 to 1967, as reported in the Annual Statistical deports of Fisheries, the future annual catches from the year 1968 to 1973 were predicted by statistical extrapolation. The trend C(t) in the 42 year period above was interpreted by the least square method. Also, the ratio of the actual annual catches Ct to this trend C(t) was regarded as a stationary variate and the serial correlation coefficients $r_k$ were calculated. The type of statistical variate model was therefore determined by the correlogram. A periodical analysis, using Whittaker's method, was performed and a harmonic analysis was also performed. According to these calculations the stationary variate at was fixed and the annual catches following the year 1967 were predicted by extrapolation.

An antenna gain measurement system using an extrapolation technique is described. The technique is similar to the usual two-antenna method for absolute gain measurement system, but involves the measurement of the received signal as a function of seperation in short distances, and the signal-versus-seperation data is processed in a way that allows an extrapolation of the signal to "infinite" seperation. In this technique it is possible to obtain the near field gain as function of distance by combining the far field gain and a proximity correction factor. The results of gain measurements of standard gain horn antennas and OEG (open ended waveguide) antennas are also presented.

Motion compensated extrapolation (MCE) techniques show inferior performance compared to motion compensated interpolation techniques, since only past frames are used in MCE. MCE techniques are used for the reconstruction of corrupted frames, the up-conversion of frame rates and the generation of side information in the distributed video coding system. In this paper, the performance of various MCE techniques are evaluated and an efficient MCE technique using the forward and backward motion estimation is proposed. In the proposed technique, the present frame is extrapolated by averaging two frames which are generated by forward and backward motion estimation respectively. It is shown that the proposed method produces better PSNR results and less blocking phenomena than conventional methods.
