This study was conducted to compare the contents of ginsenoside according the water extract conditions of red ginseng. In method A, red ginseng extract was prepared at $75^{\circ}C$ for 18 hours by 1 time extraction, and method B, the preparation was done at $85^{\circ}C$ for 18 hours by 1 time extraction. In method C, the primary extract prepared at $75^{\circ}C$ for 9 hours was blended with the secondary extract prepared by re-extracting the red ginseng residue obtained after the primary extraction, at $85^{\circ}C$ for 9 hours. Method D was the same procedure as method C but the extraction temperature for the primary extraction was $85^{\circ}C$ and that for the secondary extraction was $95^{\circ}C$. The contents of total and $Rb_1$, $Rg_1$ and $Rg_3$ ginsenoside were highest in Method C. The content of prosapogenin (ginsenoside $Rg_2$, $Rg_3$, $Rb_1$ and $Rb_2$) was highest in Method B. There was no consistent tendency in Brix, pH, Hue value and absorbance among extraction methods.
This study was conducted to elucidate extraction efficiency by microwave technique in comparison with sonication technique for extraction of insecticide residue in pear. In the analysis of the extraction efficiency of microwave for a pear spiked with imidacloprid, the extraction efficiency by microwave power of 300 W with extraction temperature of $80^{\circ}C$, heating time of 1 to 3 minute was shown to be similar with the extraction time 20 minutes by sonication. The optimal condition. in consideration of economical condition and treatment time, for microwave extraction of imidacloprid in the pear were 300 watts of power supply, $100^{\circ}C$ of extraction temperature, 1 minute of heating time and 10 mL of acetone volume. A new microwave vessel was developed to rapidly process the sample of the insecticide imidacloprid residues in the pear. This vessel was designed to include a reaction chamber and a filtration equipment, and a gathering chamber. The system could curtail a pretreatment time to 21 minutes than sonication and 7.9 minutes than the previous microwave vessel.
Extraction of valuable light hydrocarbon from atmospheric residue using pentane as a solvent has been carried out. The SIMDIS was used to calculate the true boiling point of atmospheric residue containing complex components before the modeling of the extraction process could by performed. In order to simplify the procedure, modeling was adopted and a lumping method was used, such that a large number of compounds were divided into similar component classes called pseudocomponents. The modeling of the extraction process of the atmospheric residue-pentane system was based on the isothermal flash calculation, and the Peng-Robinson equation of state was used to calculate the fugacity coefficient of vapor and liquid phase during calculation steps of modeling. The agreement between the experiments and the calculations was reasonable considering the uncertainties involved in modeling such complex processes.

This study was carried out to investigate the optimum conditions for extraction of ginsenoside active ingredients from red ginseng residue and mugwort bark extract produced by manufacturing alcoholic and water extract from red ginseng residue and mugwort bark extract. Extraction efficacy of ginsenoside active ingredients from extracted red ginseng residue and mugwort bark extract was higher than that before extracting. We suggests that red ginseng residue and mugwort bark extract produced by manufacturing alcholic and water extract of red ginseng and mugwort has higher potencies in the utilization of waste materials.
The optimum conditions for extracting alginic acid from the powdered Undaria pinnatifida and amino acid composition of its extraction residue were investigated. Extraction with 60 volumes of 1.0% sodium carbonate solution to the sample at $80^{\circ}C$ gave a maximum yield of alginic acid and the optimum extraction time was 3 hours when all the other extraction conditions had teen satisfied. In the process of precipitating alginic acid gel from algin solution, the highest yield was obtained at pH 2.0 and 1.0% $H_{2}SO_{4}$ was more suitable than 10% HC1 as a precipitating agent. Extraction residue remained by separating algin solution contained 51.5% (on the dry baiss) of crude protein, and its limiting amino acid and protein score were lysine and 41.5, respectively.
Background: In order to assess the high value-added use of the alginate-free residue of sea tangle, an animal study was performed to evaluate the functional activities and key compounds present. In the animal study, sea tangle and the alginate-free residue demonstrated good anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-arteriosclerotic abilities. Results: The functional compounds in the alginate-free residue of the sea tangle were effectively extracted by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). The optimum extraction temperature and pressure were 40 ℃ and 6500 psi (M1) in the SFE, a better method in comparison to the conditions of 70 ℃ and 4500 psi (M2), respectively. The anti-atherosclerotic effects of the alginate-free residue of sea tangle (M1, M2) were investigated in Sprague-Dawley rats treated with poloxamer 407, Triton WR 1339, corn oil, and a high-fat diet. The M1 fraction reduced the serum lipid levels with greater efficacy than the M2 fraction. In the hyperlipidemic rats, treatment with M1 decreased the serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) levels when compared to the levels in normal rats. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that the alginate-free residue of sea tangle reduces serum TC, TG, and LDL-C. These results suggest that the alginate-free residue of sea tangle contains physiologically active components, such as fucosterol, that may exert beneficial effects in the prevention of atherosclerosis.
To extract insoluble proteins of soymilk residue by microorganism, the soymilk residue was treated with crude enzyme solution from Aspergillus oryzae. Optimum conditions of pH, temperature and digestion time were determined, and amino acid composition of the extract was analyzed. The optimum pH for the extraction was 7.5, and the maximum extraction was obtained at $50^{\circ}C$. Under optimum conditions, the extractability with Koji reached to 70% in 12 hrs. The content of essential amino acids of extract was generally high and the composition of essential amino acid was good.
Polar pesticides like pymetrozine (log $P_{ow}$: -0.18) are known to be difficult to analyze. The analytical method of pymetrozine using hydromatrix included in the official method of KFDA was uncommon and provided ambiguous evidence to confirm both the identity and the quantity. Therefore, precise single residue analytical method was developed in representative crops for using liquid-liquid extraction (LLE). The pymetrozine residue was extracted with methanol from 11 representative crops which comprised apple, blueberry, broccoli, cabbage, cherry, crown daisy, hulled rice, Korean cabbage, potato, rice and watermelon. The extract was purified serially by liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and silica solid phase extraction (SPE). For rice and hulled rice samples, n-hexane partition was additionally adopted to remove nonpolar interferences, mainly lipids. The residue levels were analyzed by HPLC with DAD, using $C_8$ column. LOQ (limit of quantitation) of pymetroizinie was 1 ng (S/N > 10) and MQL (method quantitation limit) was 0.01 mg/kg. Mean recoveries from 11 crop samples fortified at three levels (MQL, 10 ${\times}$ MQL and 50 ${\times}$ MQL) in triplicate were in the range of 83.1~98.5% with coefficients of variation (CV) of less than 10%, regardless of sample type, which satisfies the criteria of KFDA. The method established in this study could be applied to most of crops as an official and general method for analysis of pymetrozine residue.
Due to the importance of isoflavone content in soybean extracts, the microwave-assisted process (MAP) was compared to the conventional extraction methods. For comparison of the three methods, all extraction parameters (solvent, sample to solvent ratio, temperature, etc.) were kept the same; the microwave extractor was operated at 187.5 W with an emission frequency of 2450 MHz under atmospheric pressure conditions and the extractions were carried out at 75 ${^{\circ}C}$ for 3 min while the conventional reflux was at 75 ${^{\circ}C}$ for 3 h. Total yield and crude isoflavone content were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometric and compared with the three methods. Results indicated that the MAP was comparable to the conventional method in its capability to extract target compounds without causing any degradation; in addition it dramatically reduced the extraction time from 3 h to a few minutes, suggesting that it can be an alternative technique to the time-consuming conventional reflux method.
In this study, the dietary fiber contents of Mozuku (Cladosiphon novae-caledoniae kylin) residue and the extraction condition (HCl, $H_2SO_4$, NaOH, $Na_2CO_3$, $Na_2EDTA$) of the dietary fiber was investigated. We examined that the contents of the total polyphenols and flavonoids in the dietary fiber from Mozuku residue, and the potent anti-cancer effect was also tested through the growth inhibition in human colon cancer cells (HT-29) in vitro. It was effective to extract soluble dietary fiber with 1.5% $Na_2EDTA$ and 0.05 N HCl in Mozuku residue. The extraction time and temperature affected the yields of soluble dietary fiber. The contents of the total polyphenols and flavonoids in the dietary fiber from Mozuku residue were the highest in 1% NaOH extract (Total polyphenols $34.4{\pm}0.055$ mg gallic acid/g dry basis, total flavonoids $34.7{\pm}0.023$ mg naringin/g extract dry basis). In DPPH radical scavenging activity, 1% NaOH extract showed the most potent antioxidant activity. In the result of viability in human colon cancer cells, growth inhibition was observed in D.W., 0.05 N HCl, and 0.5% $Na_2CO_3$ extracts in a dose-dependent manner. These results demonstrated that soluble dietary fiber from Mozuku residue significant antioxidant activity and anticancer in human colon cancer.
