Adventitial Cyst of the Radial Artery in the Wrist - A Case Report - (손목에서 발생한 요골 동맥의 외막 낭포 - 1예 보고 -)

  • Simple ganglions are most common benign tumor of the hand and wrist. However, cystic adventitial disease is an uncommon vascular anomaly first described in 1947 in the external iliac artery. It usually involves the popliteal artery, although other arteries and veins may also be involved. Radial artery adventitial cysts are found directly within the adventitia, whereas the more common wrist ganglions may extrinsically compress or adhere to the artery walls. The diagnosis is rarely made before surgery because of their similar appearance and location. The authors report a rare case of a 46-year old woman with mucoid adventitial cyst of the radial artery in the wrist.

  • This study analyzed sulfate resistance of strongly acid-resistant inorganic binder based on industrial byproducts. According to the study experiment, compared to OPC mixture, the mixture of high acid-resistant inorganic binder had excellent chemical resistance against 10% H2SO4 solution. In the case of ordinary portland cement, its sample with 28 days of immersion had severe corrosion on its mortar erosion part, and thus external appearance was damaged greatly, and compression strength decreased by around 57% and more.

  • Marvelous calligraphy-woodcarving artwork was made by using the mysterious beauty of anatomical structure of wood. The wooden artwork uses not only beautiful external appearance of wood, but it also uses the mysterious beauty of anatomical micro structure of wood which can only be observed through optical microscope or scanning electron microscope. The characteristics of anatomical structure of wood were presented through various carving techniques. The used wood species for the artwork include Quercus acutissima Carruth., Cinnamomum japonicum Sieb., Betula davurica PALL, Magnolia kobus A.P.DC, Populus maximowiczii HENRY, Betula schmidtii REGEL and Plerocaya stenoptera DC. These various types of woodcarving techniques are anticipated to be applied to the techart marketing for architecture as a field of environment art.

  • The purpose of this research is to compare high school mathematics textbooks published by India with those published by Korea so that we apply merits of India's high school mathematics education to our educational problems. We first study India's educational systems, and analyze the mathematics textbooks from both countries by considering their external appearance, units, contents. Finally we give meaningful results and propose what we can do for our mathematics education based on our analysis performed in this paper.

Potential of near infrared spectroscopy for non-destructive estimation of soluble solids in growing melons

  • Non-destructive determination of soluble solids(Brix) in harvested fruits using near infrared(hereafter, NIR) spectroscopy has been reported by many researchers. We have just reported on non-destructive estimation of Brix in harvested melons using a NIR Systems Model 6500 spectrophotometer(Ito et al., 2000). There is a melon cultivar that is difficult to judge the harvest time from the external appearance. If we can determine Brix in growing fruits non-destructively in the field, immature fruits will not be harvested. A portable m spectrophotometer for field use has been just developed by Kubota Corporation. The spectral data of growing melons were measured by the portable spectrophotometer. A commercial program was used for multiple linear regression analysis. Brix in growing melons could be estimated by a multiple regression equation calibrated with harvested melons. Absorbances of 906 and 874 nm were included as the independent variables in the multiple regression equation, and these wavelengths are key wavelengths for non-destructive Brix determination.

  • The present study attempts to explore the first appearance 8nd subsequent development of %cosine hvdroxvlase (TH)-containing neurons in the rat brain from embryonic day (E) 10.5 to the neonate. To increase the senti노ivity and resolution power, a double bridge peroxidase-anti-peroxidase technique was employed for cellular localization of TH. In situ hybridization histochemistw with synthetic TH oligomer (30-mer) codinB TH was also used to detect TH mRNA. TH-containing neurons were first detected at E11.5 in the intermediate zone of prosencepha1on and mesencephalon. At this stage, TH-immunoreactive neurons were small, ovoid bee and emitted their fibres into their immediate surroundings. From this stage, TH-immunoreactive neurons increased in their number and underwent migration and cell differentiation. At E15.5, the distribution pattern of the maior groups of TH neurons was similar to that of adult catecholaminergic groups, and at E19.5 the external laver of median eminence showed TH-immunoreactive processes.

  • Background: Owing to stress of external appearance and bad sleeping by itching, children with atopic dermatitis grow slowly. Object: The purpose of this study is estimation of growth degree on children with atopic dermatitis Method: During I year from 2001 till 2002, it became the object of studing that 45 children with atopic dermatitis and random sample 45 children without atopic dermatitis, without another disease related to growth from 2 years to 10 years in Dep. of Pediatrics, Dongguk university Bundang Oriental Hospital. Result: Height percent of children with atopic dermatitis is more lower than Height percent of children without atopic dermatitis out of considering for the distinction of sex and age. The more atopic dermatitis is severe, the more height percent of children with atopic dermatitis is lower Conclusion: Atopic dermatitis is related to the growth on children.

  • Mekuro-Kazoen BLDG. is a complex of office, hotel, and banquet halls, builted in 1991, Tokyo, Japan. This building suggest us various issues about the representation of traditionality in current architecture. We can find the possibility of representation of traditionality in large complex, in past, rarely applicated. Even in Japan, such trial in official building as New Office Building of Tokyo in Sinzuku shows a application only in the elevation plan. In Mekuro-Kazoen BLDG, the applications of traditionality are found not only in external appearance, but also in interior design. And the traditional Japanese gardens in front of building and in atrium enrich the traditionality And the modenity and traditionality in this building are represented simultaneously not deteriorating each other. The issue of representation of traditionality in architecture should be succeed not only in now but also in the future. The method of application need to be studied and improved. The fields of application also should be extended such as large complex buildings and future-oriented buildings.

  • The toner type paper-like display (PLD) has been developed with two polymer particles having opposite polarity which is composed of polymer, colorant and external additives (nano-sized silica). Nano-sized silica with triboelectric charge was used for the charge control agent (CCA) and influenced on the electrostatic properties of the silica-coated polymer particles. The PLD cell using silica-coated particles (200 seconds) had shown a good white appearance and low driving voltage. The result could be explained in terms of the surface morphology and the cohesiveness depending on the silica coating time.

  • This study investigated the propriety and the extension of the term of validity about the using watthour meters at present. The subject of study is 1Cent 2W 220V 30(10)A, 1Cent 3W 110V 30(10)A of model III watthour meters. They are the used metes(products in 1984) and the repaired meters(products in 1977) in the end of the period. The investigation is as follows. o Investigation of external appearance o Driving current test o Creeping test o Noise test o Error test o Durability test. Results of the study have been the number of 13.3% exceeded permitting error and the number of 31.3% failed in endurable test of 500 hours. So, the using meters are not suitable to extend the term of validity without the improvement of several characteristics.
