건전지의 방전에 의한 폭발성 가스의 점화에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Ignition of Flammable Gas by Spark of Dry Battery)

  • Ignitabilility of explosive gas mixture by spark of dry cell in case of short circuit by accident was studied for the purpose of evaluation of intrinsically safe characteristics of dry cell that manufactured in Korea. IEC type spark test apparatus, $21{\pm}2$ Vol% of hydrogen - air mixture, and dry cell that produced in Korea was used for the experiment. The result of this research could be used for design, manufacturing, and using the intrinsically safe electrical apparatus.

  • KSTAR vacuum vessel has been boronized by carborane ($C_2B_{10}H_{12}$) to reduce various kinds of impurities including carbon and oxygen from the wall, since carborane is solid, non-toxic, non-explosive and is easily evaporated, while diborane ($B_2D_6$) is toxic and explosive. To find the best wall condition for the removal of contaminants before application to KSTAR, various amounts (0.3g, 0.5g, 1g) of carborane are tested in a test chamber, where filament discharge was generated in the mixture of helium and carborane with the same KSTAR target pressure (~ 5 mTorr) from base pressure (${\sim}10^-7\;Torr$). Discharge is performed by a pulse sequence mode with 3 second power on and 5 second power off. Deposited films of a-C/B:H are characterized by ellipsometery, AES and XPS, and are compared with those of KSTAR.

섬유혼입된 50 MPa 고강도 콘크리트의 내화성능 (Fire Resistance Performance of Fiber-Cocktail Reinforced 50 MPa High Strength Concrete)

  • 현재 많이 사용되고 있는 50MPa 고강도 콘크리트에 대해서 섬유혼입공법(폴리프로필렌섬유와 강섬유)을 적용하여 국토해양부 시행령에 따라 2가지 다른 섬유혼입량을 가진 총 4기의 시험체를 제작하여 ISO 834 표준내화곡선에 따라서 180분간 내화시험을 실시하여 폭렬발생여부, 철근과 콘크리트의 온도분포를 통해 내화성능을 평가하였다. 내화시험 후 모든 시험체에 폭렬은 발생하지 않았으며, 폭렬방지를 위해서 요구되는 최소 폴리프로필렌섬유량은 콘크리트 단위용적당 0.57 kg이상 이다. 섬유혼입량에 따른 콘크리트와 종방향철근의 온도분포를 비교한 결과, 섬유혼입량에 따른 차이는 없다고 판단된다.

연소열을 이용한 가연성 혼합물의 폭발한계 예측 (Prediction of Explosion Limit of Flammable Mixture by Using the Heat of Combustion)

  • 폭발한계는 가연성물질의 화재 및 폭발 위험성을 결정하기 위해 사용되는 중요한 연소 특성치 가운데 하나이다. 폭발한계는 상대 연소에 따라 가연성물질을 구분하는데 사용된다. 이런 구분은 가연성물질의 안전한 취급, 처리, 수송을 위해서 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 가연성혼합물의 구성하는 각 순수성분의 연소열과 기상 조성을 이용하여 폭발한계를 예측하였다. 제시된 방법론에 의한 계산값은 적은 오차범위에서 문헌값과 일치하였다. 따라서 제시된 결과로부터 가연성혼합물의 폭발특성치 예측 방법과 다른 가연성혼합물의 폭발한계 예측에 폭넓게 적용되기를 기대한다.

Performance of self-compacting concrete at room and after elevated temperature incorporating Silica fume

  • This paper evaluates the workability and hardened properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) containing silica fume as the partial replacement of cement. SCC mixtures with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10% silica fume were tested for fresh and hardened properties. Slump flow with $T_{500}$ time, L-box and V-funnel tests were performed for evaluating the workability properties of SCC mixtures. Compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of rupture were performed on hardened SCC mixtures. Experiments revealed that replacement of cement by silica fume equal to and more than 4% reduced the slump flow diameter and increased the $T_{500}$ and V-funnel time linearly. Compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of rupture increased with increasing the replacement level of cement by silica fume and were found to be maximum for SCC mixture with 10% silica fume. Further, residual hardened properties of SCC mixture yielding maximum strengths (i.e., SCC with 10% silica fume) were determined experimentally after heating the concrete samples up to 200, 400, 600 and $800^{\circ}C$. Reductions in hardened properties up to $200^{\circ}C$ were found to be very close to normal vibrated concrete (NVC). For 400 and $600^{\circ}C$ reductions in hardened properties of SCC were found to be more than NVC of the same strength. Explosive spalling occurred in concrete specimens before reaching $800^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents a new difference scheme for numerical solution of stiff system of ODE’s. The present study is mainly motivated to develop an absolutely stable numerical method with a high order of approximation. In this work a double implicit A-stable difference scheme with the sixth order of approximation is suggested. Another purpose of this study is to introduce automatic choice of the integration step size of the difference scheme which is derived from the proposed scheme and the one step scheme of the fourth order of approximation. The algorithm was tested by means of solving the Kreiss problem and a chemical kinetics problem. The behavior of the gas explosive mixture (H₂+ O₂) in a closed space with a mobile piston is considered in test problem 2. It is our conclusion that a hydrogen-operated engine will permit to decrease the emitted levels of hazardous atmospheric pollutants.

  • A series of steam explosion experiments using real core materials of $ZrO_2$ and corium(a mixture of $ZrO_{2}\;and\;UO_{2}$) has been performed to evaluate the risk of steam explosion load in nuclear power plants. Surprisingly, spontaneous steam explosions are observed far both materials, which have been thought to be inexplosive so far. The dynamic pressure and morphology of the debris clearly indicate the evidence of an explosion. The experimental results also indicate that $ZrO_2$ is more explosive than corium.

  • A Control variables of explosion pressure in enclosure are a type of explosive gas, concentration of mixture, open area in enclosure. In this study, be performed to test inner explosion pressure of Blast Proof Door by the control variables of explosion pressure. and this real explosion test of Blast Proof Door have a good point in test of the against pressure method that can be obtained dynamic pressure or not static pressure.

Elucidating the mechanical behavior of ultra-high-strength concrete under repeated impact loading

  • The response of concrete to transient dynamic loading has received extensive attention for both civil and military applications. Accordingly, thoroughly understanding the response and failure modes of concrete subjected to impact or explosive loading is vital to the protection provided by fortifications. Reactive powder concrete (RPC), as developed by Richard and Cheyrezy (1995) in recent years, is a unique mixture that is cured such that it has an ultra-high compressive strength. In this work, the concrete cylinders with different steel fiber volume fractions were subjected to repeated impact loading by a split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) device. Experimental results indicate that the ability of repeated impact resistance of ultra-high-strength concrete was markedly superior to that of other specimens. Additionally, the rate of damage was decelerated and the energy absorption of ultra-high-strength concrete improved as the steel fiber volume fraction increased.

저항을 이용한 프로판-공기 혼합가스의 점화한계 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improved Ignition Limit with Resistor for Propan-air Mixture Gas)

  • 본 논문은 IEC형 불꽃점화 시험장치를 이용하여 저압 유도회로의 최소 점화한계를 프로판-공기 5.25 Vol.%의 혼합 가스에 대하여 실험적으로 구하였으며, 또한 유도회로의 인덕턴스 L에 안전소자로서 저항을 병렬접속 하였을 경우 프로판-공기 5.25 Vol.%의 혼합 가스에 대한 점화한계 개선효과를 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 최소 점화한계는 전류의 크기에 따라 좌우되었다. 또한, 전원으로부터 공급되는 에너지는 인덕턴스에 우선 축적되고, 그 초과분의 에너지가 폭발성 가스의 점화원으로 작용하였다. 점화한계 개선효과는 인덕턴스가 300mH일 때, 최고 330%의 개선효과가 나타났으며 인덕턴스가 클수록 점화한계 개선효과가 크게 나타났다. 또한 병렬로 접속한 저항의 크기가 적을수록 점화한계 개선 효과가 크다. 본 연구결과는 본질안전 방폭형 전기기기의 연구개발을 위한 기본자료로 활용할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 이들 기기의 방폭 성능에 대한 시험자료로도 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.
