The fiber reinforced composite material is widely used in the multi-industrial field where the weight reduction of the infrastructure is demanded because of their high specific modulus and specific strength. Pressure vessels using this composite material in comparison with conventional metal vessels can be applied in the field where lightweight and the high pressure are demanded from the defense and aerospace industry to rocket motor case due to the merits which are energy cutdown the weight reduction and decrease of explosive damage preceding to the sudden explosion which is generated by the pressure leakage condition). In this paper, for nonlinear finite element analysis of E-glass/epoxy filament winding composite pressure vessel receiving an internal pressure, the standard interpretation model is developed by using the ANSYS, general commercial software, which is verified as the accuracy and useful characteristic of the solution based on Auto LISP and ANSYS APDL. Both the preprocessor for doing exclusive analysis of filament winding composite pressure vessel and postprocessor that simplifies result of analysis have been developed to help the design engineers.

Coronal mass ejection (CME) released due to solar flare explosion cause geomagnetic disturbance. The induced current by massive geomagnetic disturbance can cause damage to the transformer. The calculated geoelectric field is a major parameter of the geomagnetically induced current (GIC). The method applying a Fourier transform has a high accuracy but it needs all data measured for 24 hours. And the other method applying a integral equation can calculate in real time but it requires to check an accuracy. To reduce the gap between the calculated results of two methods, it adjusts the integration section. As a result, the correlation between two calculated geoelectric fields is high, and the event time and direction of the calculated current is the same as that of the measured current, and it's accuracy rate is above 92 percent.

Recently, awareness of the public about the explosion damage has increased due to the increased risk of terrorism. The criteria for blast-resistance design is not sufficient in Korea, it is necessary to develop blast-resistance design for the stability and safety of building by static analysis of current blast-resistance design. In addition, as the increase of earthquake occurrence necessitates the seismic design, it is studied to judge the blast-resistance performance of members applying seismic design without blast-resistance design. Currently, the general analysis of blast load is to refer to UFC 3-340-02 manual. Blast-resistance performance was studied by applying characteristics of blast load through UFC 3-340-02 manual, beam converted into equivalent SDOF System. It is proved that blast-resistance performance is improved when seismic detail is applied considering the maximum deflection of normal, intermediate, and special moment frames.

Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is useful statistical technique for finding patterns in data, and expressing the data in such a way as to highlight their similarities and differences. In this paper, 1417 marine casualties occurred in Korean littoral sea in recent 5 years, were examined by the PCA. The main results obtained were as follows : 1. Most of marine casualties resulted from the human factors such as careless operation and insufficient engine maintenance. 2. Collision and standing mainly resulted from steering room-related human factors such as careless guard, inadequate ship-handling, however engine damage and fire explosion mainly resulted from engine room-related human factor such as bad handling of engine system. 3. No. 1 principal component represents accident frequency, No. 2 principal component represents the cause and No. 3 principal component represents the pattern of marine casualties, respectively.
In this paper, internal blast effect of reinforced concrete core structure were investigated using Ansys Autodyn, which is a specialized hydrocode for the analysis of explosion and impact. It is expected that internal blast case can give additional damage to the structure because it causes rebound of blast loads. Therefore, in this paper, the hazard of internal blast effect is demonstrated using UFC 3-340-02 criteria. In addition, analysis result of Autodyn, experimental result regarding rebound of blast load, and example of UFC 340-02 are compared to verify that Autodyn can analyze internal blast effect properly. Furthermore, progressive collapse mechanism of core structure which is one of the most important parts in high rise buildings is also analyzed using Autodyn. When internal blasts are loaded to core structure, the core structure is mostly damaged on its corner and front part of core wall from explosives. Therefore, if the damaged parts of core wall are demolished, progressive collapse of the core structure can be initiated.
In order to prevent secondary disaster such as gas explosion which comes after a devastating magnitude earthquake, the seismic monitoring and transmission system for natural gas governor station was developed. To measure ground motions precisely and operate the seismic monitoring system efficiently, the position and method of accelerometer installation were recommended by the analysis of ground noise patterns of governor station. For making a decision on prompt shut-off of gas supplies in the event of a great earthquake, the real-time calculation algorithm of PGA(Peak Ground Acceleration) and SI(Spectrum Intensity) were developed and it has been implemented in the seismic monitoring and transmission system.
As the quality of live gets better, the frequency of using air conditioner is along drastically increasing. On that matter, setting up measures of preventing increasing fire cases has been required. 43,413 fire cases occurred in last 2016, the cases occurred by electricity account for about 20%(8,655 cases). Among the electricity cases, the amount of cases occurred with air conditioner issues covers 1.5%; causes of the fire incidents vary, including incomplete contacts, short circuits, tracking, and such. In this study, we intend to investigate the case of ignition at the connection point where the power cord connected to the outdoor unit is arbitrarily connected during the air conditioner installation process, and to propose preventive measures against the cause in order to reduce the damage of life as well as the property from electric fire incidents.

The inelastic response of many structural steel and reinforced concrete structures subject to extreme loadings can be characterized by elastoplastic behaviors. Although excursion beyond the elastic range is usually not permitted under normal conditions of service, the extent of permanent damage a structure may sustain when subjected to extreme conditions, such as severe blast or earthquake loading, is frequently of interest to the engineer. A blast is usually the result of an explosion defined as a "sudden expansion". This paper discusses the basic concept that defines blast loadings on structures and corresponding elastoplastic structural response (displacement, velocity, and acceleration) and try to explain a crack propagation of concrete in sudden expansion. According to nonlinear finite element analysis, the crack forms of static and dynamic states displayed different in RC structural members. This paper also provides useful data for the dynamic fracture analysis of RC frame structures.
If gas is leaking out of gas pipelines, it could cause a huge explosion. Accordingly, it is important to ensure the integrity of gas pipelines. Traditionally, over the years, gas-operating companies have used the ILI system, which is based on axial magnetic flux leakage (MFL), to inspect the gas pipelines. Relatively, there is a low probability of detection (POD) for the axial defects with the axial MFL-based ILI. To prevent the buried pipeline from corrosion, it requires a protective coating. In addition to the potential damage to the coating by environmental factors and external forces, there could be defects on the damaged coating area. Thus, it is essential that nondestructive evaluation methods for detecting axial defects (axial cracks, axial groove) and damaged coating be developed. In this study, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) sensor was designed and fabricated for detecting axial defects and coating disbondment. In order to validate the performances of the developed EMAT sensor, experiments were performed with specimens from axial cracks, axial grooves, and coating disbondment. The experimental results showed that the developed EMAT sensor could detect not only the axial cracks (minimum 5% depth of wall thickness) and axial grooves (minimum 10% depth of wall thickness), but also the coating disbondment.
Gas is an energy source widely used in general households and industrial sites, and is also a process material widely used in petrochemical and semiconductor processes. However, while it is easy to use, it can cause large-scale human damage due to leakage, explosion, and human inhalation. Therefore, a gas facility safety management solution that can be safely used at home and industrial sites is essential. In particular, the need to develop advanced gas safety solutions is emerging as gas facilities are aging. In this paper, a technology was developed to measure the presence and concentration of gas leaks from a distance by irradiating photons, the minimum energy unit that can no longer be divided into gas facilities, and analyzing the number of reflected photons. This overcomes technical limitations such as short detection distance and inability to detect fine leaks, which are the limitations of conventional electric/chemical gas sensors or infrared-based gas leak detectors.
