  • Focusing on the role of the science museum as an institution to improve the scientific literacy of the public, this study investigated public perception and behavior about science museum to know how much science museums affect the public by using social media big data analysis. For this purpose, we extracted texts containing 'science museum' in Naver blogs and Twitter, analyzed them by using network, frequency, co-ocurrence, and semantics analysis and compared them with the results in English speaking countries. As a result, blogs were mainly concerned with science museum among parents who have young children, while in Twitter posts from many students who visited as a group appeared. Therefore, the Korean public used science museum mainly as a space for children's experience, and in this case, programs and exhibitions of science museums are perceived positively. On the other hand, students who visited as a group showed some negative emotions. The result of comparison with the cases of foreign countries in terms of the function of the third generation science museum such as communications with the science museum and the public and the participation of the public in science, the Korean public hardly mentioned the scientific contents, words related to communications such as 'argue', and curators or staff after visiting the science museum. In contrast to many verbs related to meaningful activities such as 'learn', 'participate', 'listen', 'read', 'ask', 'think' appeared in English, only a small number of verbs include 'ask' and 'thin' appeared in Korean. Therefore, science museum need to improve impression, communicating with public, and involving activity with impact and variety after visit.

  • This study proposes a third-person virtual reality content production pipeline to provide users with a new experience and presence in a new virtual reality environment. For this purpose, we first create third-person virtual reality content, which includes a story, fun factors, and game characteristic. It consists of a tutorial scene in which a user can pre-learn the proposed interface suitable for a third person different from existing virtual reality content and a content scene that achieves its purpose by using game factors based on the background story. Next, we design an interface suitable for the third-person virtual reality content. This study proposes an interface in which users can interact with a virtual environment or object by using their hand. The proposed interface consists of three steps: character movement, virtual object selection with multiple selection, and 3D menu control using virtual space. Finally, through the survey experiment, third-person virtual reality content produced based on the proposed interface was confirmed to be easily controlled while ensuring high satisfaction.

  • This study aimed to explore the direction of development of agricultural safety and health system in Korea based on experience on Farmers' Occupational Health Services (FOHS) of Finland. In Finland additional and specialized Occupational Health Services (OHS) for self-employed farmers were developed and have been conducted by municipal primary health care centers with cooperation of National Centre for Agricultural Health (NCAH) of Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, Social Insurance Institute (SII) and Farmers' Social Insurance Institution (FSII). Based on the study, in order to activate the FOHS in Korea, the analysis results could suggest the development of four prerequisites. Firstly, center for farmers' safety and health like NCAH, which conducts surveillance on health and safety status, standardization of intervention contents and epidemiological research is needed in national institution. Secondly, development of evaluation tools with lower cost and difficulty like walk-through survey for checking status of systems of safety in the farms is needed. Thirdly, farmers' occupational health insurance which will be initiated on near future should be connected to preventive intervention programs like FOHS. Lastly, training and qualification of more local occupational health experts and units is needed.

  • This study was done to identify the reality in doing the intradermal skin test of injectional antibiotics and to serve a basis to the clinical and educational situations. For the study, the survey was done to the staff nurses who are working at one of the selected 39 hospitals in the capital area, from January 6 to Feburary 8 in 1997. The data analysis was done by mean, standard deviation, Fisher's exact test, t-test, ANOVA through running SAS computer program. The results of the study were as follows : 1. The dilution ratio of the antibiotics was mostly 1 : 10 regardless of what kind of antibitics. Making the contrast was done only for the suspended to the antibiotics. Mostly the reaction was detected after 15 to 20 minutes from its diameter of redness and wheals. Most of the respondents answered they do the intradermal skin test only once for the same antibiotics. 2. In the education on the skin test the 66.7% from the respondents had exposed to the education mostly through the new nurses orientation. The 85,4% from them answered the need of the continuous education which had a significant difference in the number of beds(p=.046). The had experiences of detecting positive reactions(98.3%), and of anaphylaxis(49.5%) which had a significant difference in experience(p=.002) and in their age groups(p=.000). 3. The averge score of the confidence on the intradermal skin test was 3.32 form 4-point scale. Also it had a significant difference from the number of beds(p=.010), the year of experiences(p=.016), and their age groups(p=.046). 4. From the general characteristics of respondents, the injection methods had a significant difference in the amounts of injection, whether adopting the contrast pairing, and the repeatable skin tests for the same antibiotics. 5. Only 15 from 39 hospitals had their protocol about the intradermal skin test provided by nursing department which differs in its contents from that provided by the medical information center. From the results of the study, it is suggested that the continuous education on the intradermal skin test and its unified protocol should be provided. Also it is recomended that the drug manufacturer should notice about its anaphylactic cautions and pack its extra skin test use.

  • By analyzing and integrating established geological field study instances, this study offered a new geological field excursion teaching model with several steps: unifying question raising. excursion generalization. intensive field direction, searching, primary conclusion, re-searching, group discussion. adjustment, and excursion summarizing. Then by Qualitatively assaying the responses which students showed after applying this teaching model, a concrete teaching plan was sought for earth science teachers who were planning to begin geological field excursion classes. Students evaluated very highly on the unifying question and excursion generalization because these items provided a sense of direction and an overall theme for geological excursion in advance. Also. since the students had little to none geological knowledge and field excursion experience, the intensive field direction gave them a lot of help with their field excursion activities. Students thought that coming up with a primary conclusion based on the summary of what they had observed in their activities was original. and highly valued the process of sharing different opinions in group discussions and drawing out a final conclusion. Teachers should help students develop a friendly atmosphere, by organizing group activities and continuously feedlng them with uniting questions and excursion generalization within the groups. Also they should prepare enough contents for intensive field direction and ways to get their points across. In the process, they should arrange beforehand detailed instructions for every outcome, with the intention of solving the question. Furthermore. teachers should follow carefully how conclusions are drawn. instruct students not to reach conclusions based on mere assumptions, and be aware of misconceptions students have toward geological phenomenon in advance, so that the discussion can be lead in the right direction.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' perception about 'Science Field Trip(SFT) to Korean historical sites'. Ninety-seven teachers were asked to reply the questionnaire about SFT to Korean historical sites. This questionnaire was divided into three parts: educational value, teaching method, and difficulty of management. Firstly, teachers indicated that SFT to Korean historical sites had much educational value in that it could give students chances to understand Korean culture, to acquire investigative process skills, to experience divergent investigation and cooperative learning, to raise integrated thinking skill concerning science and other subjects, and to learn contents related with science curriculum. It also had advantages of caring for students out of school and giving the information for future occupation. Secondly, teachers suggested the desirable teaching method: teachers' explanation about SFT to Korean historical sites with worksheets before it, students' group work during it, and the presentation and discussion after it. Finally, the most frequent answer in the difficulty of management was the lack of teaching materialsfor SFT to Korean historical sites.
