  • Sensory integration started as a theory to provide a occupational therapist with a useful frame for explaining and intervening the problems which children have. Most researches on sensory processing disorder (SPD) have been found empirical evidence to support the sensory integration theory by measuring behavioral manifestations of SPD. Recently, researchers who are interested in the diagnosis of SPD have begun to use neurophysiological methods to establish objective evidence for sensory integration. These studies reported the neurophysiological indexes reflecting the maladaptive behaviors as well as the difference between children with SPD and typically developing children in using electrodermal activity, vagal tone, EEG. Future neurophysiological studies on SPD will be expected to prove the efficacy of sensory integration intervention.

  • Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) has been used as traditional herbal drug in Asian countries. Ginsenosides are major components having pharmacological and biological efficacy like anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and anti-tumor effects. To control the quality of the components in diverse ginseng products, we developed a new quantitative method using LC-MS/MS for 13 ginsenosides; Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, Re, Rf, 20(S)-Rh1, 20(S)-Rh2, Rg1, 20(S)-Rg3, F1, F2, and compound K. This method was successfully validated for linearity, precision, and accuracy. This quantification method applied in four representative ginseng products; fresh ginseng powder, white ginseng powder, red ginseng extract powder, and red ginseng extract. Here the amounts of the 13 ginsenosides in the various type of ginseng samples could be analyzed simultaneously and expected to be suitable for quality control of ginseng products.

  • Recently, the personal cloud computing service has been being spotlighted as an individual tool of productivity enhancement. However, compared to the rosy forecast, its diffusion rate in the domestic (Korean) market is much slower than expected. In order to find the reason for the slow growth of personal cloud computing service, we attempt to identify influencing factors on user's adoption resistance, while most prior research has focused on the factors affecting its adoption. Based on both the person-technology fit model and the privacy calculus model, we propose technostress and perceived value as key antecedents of adoption resistance. In addition, we identify (1) technical (pace of change and complexity) and personal (self-efficacy) influencing factors on technostress, and (2) beneficial (perceived mobility and perceived availability) and harmful (perceived vulnerability) influencing factors on perceived value. To validate our research model, 133 individual samples were gathered from undergraduate and graduate students who had actual experience of using at least one of personal cloud computing services. The results of the structural equation modeling confirm that both technostress and perceived value have significant effects on adoption resistance, but they have different influencing mechanisms to different types of adoption resistance (indifference, postponement, and rejection). Theoretical and practical contributions are discussed in the conclusion.

  • Purpose - Relationship between farm and county losses determines whether the county program provides too little, too much, or similar amount of assistance relative to the loss on an individual farm. A review of the literature finds limited analysis of the determinants of this relationship. This paper conducts such an analysis using farm-level yield data. Research design, data, and methodology - Farm-level yield data from Illinois and Kansas farm business management associations are used for to calculate the correlation between farm and county loss and the share of farm loss systemic with county loss, and also for the regression analysis. Results - Average share of farm loss systemic with the county loss lies between 42% and 68%. The correlation between farm and county yield/revenue deviation from expected value is statistically significant in all four models. The coefficient is positive, implying the higher the correlation, the larger the share of farm loss that is systemic with the county loss. Conclusions - The findings of this study are consistent with the existing literature which argues that county variability may not be closely associated with farm variability. The findings of this study thus raise questions about the efficacy of area yield and revenue insurance products in helping farmers manage their risk.

  • The electronic technology development have occurred in the face of existing legal barriers to legal efficacy of computer information goods, and the liberating promise of electronic transactions cannot fully realized unless there is predictability in the legal rules that govern such transactions. This study analyzes some theoretical fundamentals of the Act. First, it proposes that the Act clarify and set forth uniform legal principles applicable to computer information transactions. Secondly, it suggests that if the individual is risk averse, the acceptance set for electronic transactions will be a convex set, and that the application of the Act will make the acceptance set more expanded by lowering the probability of conflicts and by downsizing the risk averness. Thirdly, it also suggest that through the mothod of contingent commodities analysis, the application of the Act by means of its restricted regulations will give more expected utility than the absence of the Act. Fourthly, it derives some implications that the degree of legitimate restriction will be affected by the objective risk inherent to the electronic transactions, and the individual's subjective risk-averseness. Finally, it concludes that harmonization of restriction and protection of individual's rights in electronic transaction process will be a necessary condition for more efficient body of law from the law-economic perspectives.

  • Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIOs)-embedded chitosan microspheres were developed for magnetic resonance (MR)-traceable embolotherapy. SPIOs-loaded chitosan microspheres were prepared by emulsion and cross-linking technique and 100-200 ${\mu}m$ sized spherical microsparticles were obtained. Loading efficacy and loading amount of SPIOs in microspheres were about 40% and 0.26-0.32%, respectively, when measured by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. Within 30 days, about 60% of the incorporated SPIOs were released from low cross-linked microspheres, whereas only about 40% of SPIOs was released from highly cross-linked microspheres. Highly cross-linked microspheres were more efficient for lower degree of swelling leading to secure entrapment of SPIOs in matrix. Prepared novel embolic microspheres are expected to be practically applicable for traceable embolotherapy with high resolution and sensitivity through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to compare three therapies - auricular acupuncture, transdermal nicotine patch and therapy - in combination with auricular acupuncture and nicotine patch. Methods : The subjects of this study included 188 male smokers in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, who visited Wonmi Public Health Center. They were evaluated with the Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence, amounts of daily smoking and success rate of smoking cessation. The subjects decided on a therapy method strictly of their own choice. They were divided into three groups according to the therapy; auricular acupuncture group (62 persons), nicotine patch group (69 persons) and combination therapy group (57 persons). Results : All three groups resulted in statistically significant reducing effects of nicotine dependence and amounts of daily smoking. In the combination therapy group, nicotine dependence was significantly decreased by more than those of the other groups. There were no statistically significant differences in decrements of daily smoking and success rate of smoking cessation among the three groups. Conclusions : The above results suggest that auricular acupuncture and transdermal nicotine patch have significant effects of smoking cessation. If they are combined, it is expected that therapies for smoking cessation would be developed.

  • Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of Optimal humidification during Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (nCPAP) for Extremely Low Birth Weight Infant (ELBWI). Methods: The study design was a pre-test-post-test nonequivalent nonsynchronized quasi-experimental design. The participants were 218 ELBWI on nCPAP (experimental group: 102 and control group: 116). Data collection was conducted from January 2005 to April 2010. In order to measure and analyze the nCPAP duration, reintubation and nasal condition, Chi-square test and t-test were used. Results: Hypothesis 1, that the duration with nCPAP in the experimental group is longer than that of the control group and hypothesis 2-3, that the rate of reintubation and nasal problems in the experimental group are lower than the control group, were all supported as there were statistically significant differences between two groups. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the Optimal humidification in this study is an efficient intervention because it helps increase the last time of nCPAP with ELBWI and minimize complications. It is expected that Optimal humidification is beneficial and helpful in preventing and caring for respiratory problems in these infants.

  • The general path model (GPM) is one approach for performing degradation-based, or Type III, prognostics. The GPM fits a parametric function to the collected observations of a prognostic parameter and extrapolates the fit to a failure threshold. This approach has been successfully applied to a variety of systems when a sufficient number of prognostic parameter observations are available. However, the parametric fit can suffer significantly when few data are available or the data are very noisy. In these instances, it is beneficial to include additional information to influence the fit to conform to a prior belief about the evolution of system degradation. Bayesian statistical approaches have been proposed to include prior information in the form of distributions of expected model parameters. This requires a number of run-to-failure cases with tracked prognostic parameters; these data may not be readily available for many systems. Reliability information and stressor-based (Type I and Type II, respectively) prognostic estimates can provide the necessary prior belief for the GPM. This article presents the Bayesian updating framework to include prior information in the GPM and compares the efficacy of including different information sources on two data sets.
