  • Previous studies on user training have largely focused on assessing models which describe the determinants of information technology usage or examined the effects of training on user satisfaction, productivity, performance, and so on. Scant research efforts have been made, however, to examine those effects of training by using theoretical models. This study presented a conceptual model to predict intention to use information technology and conducted an experiment to understand how training for computer skill acquisition affects primary variables of the model. The data were obtained from 32 student subjects of an experimental group and 31 students of a control group, and the information technology employed for this study was a university's electronic mail system. The study results revealed that attitude toward usage and perceived behavioral control helped to predict user intentions; outcome expectations were positively related to attitude toward usage; and self - efficacy and perceived behavioral control. The changes in those variables suggest more causal effects of user training than other survey studies.

  • The results showed that the male teachers' have higher expectations of the free learning semester compared to the female teachers'. Furthermore, the teachers who had experienced the free learning semester felt less job burdens than the teachers who did not. In addition, the subject teachers showed higher expectations of the free learning semester than the general teachers or the homeroom teachers. Therefore, in order to establish a stable system of free learning semester, it should be preceded by development of differentiated program of special education, free learning semester, strengthening of advance training, establishment of the system for participating in the whole school and the simplification of administration.

  • The purpose of this study was to construct the new premarital relationship enrichment program and to examine the effects of it. Based on the review of the previous research and program, this program was composed. It included the realistic expectations of marriage and sex, understanding of themselves and accepting differences, role expectations and intimacy in the relationship, communication and conflict resolution skills. To perform this program, six sessions of time-limited(100-150 minutes) were carried out. And the subjects were assigned to experimental group(N=4 couples) and control group(N=4 couples). Scales of PREPARE and SEI(Self-Esteem Inventory) were used as the pre-post-follow instruments of this study. Major findings were as follows: 1. Premarital Relationship Enrichment Program had meaningful consequences for the improvement of the participants self-esteem. 2. Premarital Relationship Enrichment Program had meaningful consequences for the improvement of the participants equal role, communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • The present research aimed to assess role expectations and job performance of childcare teaching assistants at daycare centers. In order to describe participants' experiences, qualitative data were analyzed using Van Manen's phenomenological approach. The findings showed that childcare teaching assistants suffered a gap between their role expectations and reality. They felt diverse emotions and doubt about their professionalism through interactions with teachers in charge, directors, parents, and children. The participants claimed that the Nuri curriculum teaching assistants system should be improved to achieve better quality childcare programs. The implications to support the Nuri curriculum teaching assistants system were discussed in depth.

  • This research addresses examining the service recovery process in Airline service. A service recovery framework is suggested and tested empirically. The framework includes several factors such as service recovery expectations, service recovery achievements, recovery performance, post-recovery satisfaction, and post-recovery behavioral intents. The relationships among these factors are hypothesized and proved empirically. Consequently the results suggest that recovery expectation impacts on recovery performance significantly. Also the higher the recovery performance, the higher post-recovery satisfaction, then it increases customers' purchase intent and words of mouth. Finally, this paper suggests the need for new service recovery strategies.

  • The purposes of the study were twofold: to investigate the stereotype of position and direction that the users expect when operating the handles of a water faucet in different directions, and to collect information about user’s preferred directions. Six hundred subjects, aged from teens to over sixties, participated in the experiment with the procedure of showing them actual water faucets of a lever-type handle and two round-shaped handles mounted on the sink(horizontal plane) and wall(vertical plane). The water faucets presented to the subjects were most widely used devices in our living environment. The results showed that when the handle of the lever-type water faucet was in the 'up' position, 63% of the subjects expected the device was 'open'. When the cold hot separated water faucets were mounted on the horizontal or vertical plane, over 50% of those who answered the 'open' direction of round type handles responded as 'counter clockwise' for a 'hot' water faucet and 'clockwise' for a 'cold' water faucet. In conclusion, this study suggests that water faucet devices be designed and installed in the way that the users expect them to operate.

  • In the advent of ubiquitous information technology (u-IT) as a new emerging horizon of information society, inflated expectations regarding u-IT are growing very fast and higher than those made in the past, which would perhaps result in serious bust after boom and incur tremendous amount of social costs. This paper thus investigates a dynamic mechanism underlying the coevolution between information technology and society by applying systems thinking, particularly, with a focus on the typical phenomenon, 'hype curve' which shows how new technologies initially grow too fast for their own good, crashing from a peak of inflated expectations into a trough of disillusionment before stabilizing on a plateau of productivity. Three basic questions are explored to answer by investigating the mechanisms underlying the 'boom-bust' phenomenon: First, why hype curve appears in the process of technology and society coevolution. Second, how to enhance the stabilization level. Third, when is the right time for the policy intervention.

  • The purpose of this research is to evaluate the service quality measure and service quality level between one sample library and the other. Most typically, service quality is defined in terms of reducing the gap between customer expectations and the actual service provided. This research also focuses on gap reduction. Service quality concept was originally discussed in a commercial environment and may require some adaptation to the non-commercial environment of the academic library. A revised service quality measure that developed by P. J. Calvert and P. Hernon(1996) was used for this research. Results showed that service quality measure of this research was reliable(99 service quality items scale's Cronbach Alpha coefficient was 0.983) and was validated by correlation and factor analysis. Therefore service quality measure of this research will be applied positively for academic libraries. And this research showed that the service quality level of sample academic library was inferior to that of the others. The service quality of sample academic library should be improved to meet the customer's needs and expectations immediately.

  • Using a simple formula for conditional expectations over an analogue of Wiener space, we calculate a generalized analytic conditional Fourier-Feynman transform and convolution product of generalized cylinder functions which play important roles in Feynman integration theories and quantum mechanics. We then investigate their relationships, that is, the conditional Fourier-Feynman transform of the convolution product can be expressed in terms of the product of the conditional FourierFeynman transforms of each function. Finally we establish change of scale formulas for the generalized analytic conditional Fourier-Feynman transform and the conditional convolution product. In this evaluation formulas and change of scale formulas we use multivariate normal distributions so that the orthonormalization process of projection vectors which are essential to establish the conditional expectations, can be removed in the existing conditional Fourier-Feynman transforms, conditional convolution products and change of scale formulas.
