천연가스 폐압발전 활성화의 당위성에 대한 열역학적 분석 (Thermodynamic Analysis on the Feasibility of Turbo Expander Power Generation Using Natural Gas Waste Pressure)

  • 터보팽창기를 이용한 폐압발전에서 전력생산량과 온도의 산출식의 열역학적 유도과정을 제시하였고, 전력생산량은 압력차가 아니라 압력비가 주요변수임을 밝혔다. 천연가스 폐압발전 인입부의 고압가스는 전기에너지(비용) 투입이 거의 없이 무상으로 얻어지는 에너지라는 사실을 보임으로써, 폐압이 지금까지는 별로 주목받지 못하였지만 새로운 청정에너지원 중의 하나임을 밝혔다. 공급가스 온도 보상을 위한 방법으로 팽창 후의 heating 방식을 택한다면, 전력생산과 더불어 냉열을 이용할 수 있고, 냉열이용량 만큼 heating 에너지를 줄일 수 있으므로 경제성을 배가시킬 수 있다.

가스엔진용 유기랭킨사이클의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Construction of a Bottoming Organic Rankine Cycle System for an Natural Gas Engine)

  • 천연가스용으로 개조된 가스엔진에서 방출되는 폐열을 활용하기 위한 유기 랭킨사이클 (Organic Rankine Cycle: ORC) 발전시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 이 연구에서는 개조된 가스엔진의 폐열을 실험적으로 분석한 데이터를 바탕으로 구성한 ORC 시스템의 컴포넌트를 설계하고 제작하였다. ORC 시스템에는 2개의 판형 열교환기와 5kW급 팽창기, 다단 펌프가 사용되었으며, 전기 히터를 이용하여 ORC 시스템의 열역학적 성능을 분석하였다. 또한, 실제로 가스엔진과 연동하여 작동 특성을 파악하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. ORC 시스템에 열량을 공급해주는 2대의 가스엔진을 사용하였다. 열원모사실험 결과, 열원온도 $110^{\circ}C$에서 축동력 5.22kW가 발생, 압력비 7.41, 열효율 9.09%가 계산되어졌으며, 엔진연동실험에서는 고온수 온도 $86^{\circ}C$에서 축동력 2kW가 발생, 이 때의 압력비는 3.75, 열효율 6.45%가 계산되었다.

스크롤기구를 적용한 신형식 스털링 엔진 (New-Type Stirling Engine Employing the Scroll Mechanism)

  • Stirling engine is a heat engine with a high potential efficiency, multi-fuel capability, its low emission, quiet operation, very low maintenance requirement and long life. The Stirling cycle can ideally achieve optimum thermodynamic efficiency of the Carnot cycle. But the actual efficiency of practical reciprocating Stirling engine is much less than that of ideal Stirling cycle due to several mechanical limits. This paper presents a new-type Stirling engine employing the scroll mechanism superior to the reciprocating Stirling engine. The new-type Stirling engine is characterized as traits of continuous and wholly seperated compression and expansion, one-way flow, direct cooling and heating through the extensive surfaces of scroll wraps. By means of this traits, the new-type Stirling engine can achieve thermodynamic cycle closer to the ideal Stirling cycle and have many mechanical merits. Also, the new-type Stirling cycle can be applied as Stirling refrigerator and Duplex Stirling machine.

유기랭킨사이클과 암모니아-물 랭킨사이클의 열역학적 성능의 비교 해석 (Comparative Thermodynamic Analysis of Organic Rankine Cycle and Ammonia-Water Rankine Cycle)

  • In this paper a comparative thermodynamics analysis is carried out for organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and ammonia-water Rankine cycle (AWRC) utilizing low-grade heat sources. Effects of the working fluid, ammonia concentration, and turbine inlet pressure are systematically investigated on the system performance such as mass flow rate, pressure ratio, turbine-exit volume flow, and net power production as well as the thermal efficiency. Results show that ORC with a proper working fluid shows higher thermal efficiency than AWRC, however, AWRC shows lower mass flow rate of working fluid and lower pressure ratio of expander than ORC.

Real operation of 2 kW class reverse-Brayton refrigeration system with using scroll compressor package

  • This paper describes the real operation of 2 kW class reverse-Brayton refrigeration system with neon as a working fluid. The refrigeration cycle is designed with operating pressure of 0.5 and 1.0 MPa at low and high pressure side, respectively. Compressor package consists of several helium scroll compressors witch are originally used for driving GM cryocooler. Three segments of plate heat exchanger are adopted to cover the wide temperature range and the refrigeration power is produced by turbo expander. The developed refrigeration system is successfully operated at its target temperature of 77 K. In experiments, all parameters such as pressure, temperature, mass flow rate and valve opening are measured to investigate characteristics during cool-down process and normal state. The difference between design and real operation is discussed with measured experimental data. At normal state of 77 K operation, the developed reverse-Brayton refrigeration system shows 1.83 kW at 68.2 K of cold-end temperature.

터보 팽창기를 활용한 NGL 회수공정 최적화에 대한 연구 (An Optimization Study on the NGL Recovery Process Using Turbo-expander)

  • 본 연구에서는 전처리 공정을 거친 천연가스로부터 에탄 이상의 성분을 회수하기 위한 탈메탄탑에 대한 전산모사와 공정 최적화를 수행하였다. 전처리된 천연가스는 탈메탄탑 상부의 차가운 기상류와의 열교환 및 프로판 냉동 사이클이 포함된 예냉공정을 거친 후에 기상과 액상이 분리된다. 기상은 터보 팽창기를 거치면서 생산되는 동력을 residue gas의 압력을 높이기 위한 압축기에 전달한 후에 부분적으로 응축되어 탈메탄탑 상부로 주입된다. 액상류는 줄-톰슨 팽창 밸브를 거친 후 더욱 냉각되어 탈메탄탑의 중간부로 주입된다. 원료 대비 에탄의 회수율은 75% 이상으로 정하였으며, 탈메탄탑의 탑저에서 에탄에 대한 메탄의 몰비는 0.015로 정하였다. 한편 프로판 냉동 사이클의 heat duty를 최소화시키기 위해서 원료를 분리하여 side reboiler와 열교환시킴으로써 냉열의 일부 회수할 수 있었다.

미세 선가공을 위한 레이저 변수 제어 (Control of Laser Parameter for Precision Line Processing)

  • We presented the proper laser processing conditions for the capillary line marking, which could be applied for the fabrication of injection needles. With changing the parameters such as lamp current, duty cycle and beam amplification factor of beam expander, we evaluated the processing performance considering amount of dross, processing efficiency and processed linewidth in the sample. We could carry out the proper line marking at the condition of 70% lamp current, duty cycle of 7-10% and 6-times amplification of beam diameter. To perform efficient line processing, the utilization of duty cycle of 12% at 80% lamp current was also preferred.

  • The new concept for liquefaction of natural gas has been designed and simulated in this paper. Conventional liquefaction cycles are usually composed with Joule-Thomson valves at lower temperature refrigerant cycle. The new concept of natural gas liquefaction is discussed. The main difference with conventional liquefaction process is the presence of the turbine at low temperature of MR (mixed refrigerant) cycle. The turbine acts as expander but also as an energy generator. This generated energy is provided to the compressor which consumes energy to pressurize refrigerants. The composition of the mixed refrigerant is investigated in this study. Components of the refrigerant are methane, propane and nitrogen. Composition for new process is traced with Aspen HYSYS software. LNG heat exchangers are analyzed for the new process. Heating and cooling curves in heat exchangers were also analyzed.

Study on the Fundamental Technologies of ATREX Engine

  • This paper reviews the latest studies of the expander cycle Air Turbo Ramjet engine (ATREX) conducted in JAXA. First, a system analysis including the vehicle and trajectory was conducted to optimize the engine cycle and turbo-machine configuration. We selected the precooled turbo-jet cycle for a prototype engine using the near term technologies. Second, a system ground-firing test was conducted to verify a defrosting system for the precooler. Methanol injection with its particles atomization could compensate 80 % of pressure loss caused by the frost. Thirdly, a feasibility of carbon/carbon composites for the engine components was investigated by making complex shapes such as a heat exchanger and a plug nozzle. Basic technologies on the gas leakage, the junction and bonding were also studied. The end of the paper, some basic studies such as wind tunnel tests of a new type air inlet and a plug nozzle are described.
